There are HD movies available for home video now through:
1) D-VHS (http://www.dvhsmovie.com/)
2) Microsoft\'s poopy selection of 1080p WMV-HD discs (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/content_provider/film/ContentShowcase.aspx)
But for the mainstream we\'re waiting on the format war between Toshiba/NEC vs Sony/Philips/Panasonic (HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray respectively). Now that the Blu-ray camp is supporting Microsoft\'s VC-1 codec it looks like Sony\'s more fully-featured format has the upper-hand.
Competition is usually good, but not in format wars. :( Expect to see them late 2005, early 2006.

THere are quite a few players out now that play windows media 9 stuff, but like THX said, I\'m not going to go out and buy a 250 dollar dvd player when blue laser is only about a year away.
