Title: Lost
Post by: Black Samurai on September 27, 2004, 05:29:00 PM
Has anyone else seen part one of the series premiere? This is looking like a great new show. It is VERY rare for a show to pass the VCR test in its first episode.

I was already digging the concept of a show about these different people lost after a plane crash. When they introduced the element of [sp]The strange monster and the idea that the island may be more mysterious than previously thought[/sp] I was hooked. There were a lot of things that were glanced over in the episode that look like the beginnings of some great storylines.

This show looks like a winner.

Eh, the script seemed very iffy.

I watched the first 30 minutes and went to play madden.

But it wasn\'t horrible, id probley watch it again.

I watched it and now I\'m curious.

The first 15 minutes or so bothered me quite a bit, the doctor seemed to be the only one with common sense and the camera was shaking way too much.

I\'m probably going to watch it tonight.  I saw the first minute or so to look at it.  I tell you, if you ever want to see incredible HD, that is it.  THe island shots were stunning.

I didn\'t notice the camera but I agree about the doctor. I mean seriously, he is a surgeon that is never afraid and used to take pilot classes. How convenient.

BTW, Am I the only one that is intrigued about the guy who was running to the front of the plane right before the crazy turbulence hit? Also am I crazy or is Charlie the guy who was running? Something is seriously up with him.

There was a show on UK TV called "lost" where 3 teams were dumped somewhere in the world and had to find there way back to London with no money etc, balgging their way through things etc. It was quite good although there was only on series for some stupid reason.

Yeah.. and episode 2 has some really neat twists

[sp]The main girl turns out to be a fugitive... the guy with a bar in his chest was a marshal.  Guns start.. and a polarbear? is killed in the jungle[/sp]

I liked the first two episodes, which I saw early this summer (they were testing pilots in my area).

Wow, that was pretty good. Was that one British/Australian guy one of the hobbits (Pippin or Merry) from LoTR?

Yah, that is him.

I\'m still curious about the show however the acting seems a bit spotty, especially that chick with the brother, then that tall blonde guy who shot the...polar bear?

I don\'t know, I\'ll keep watching it just to make some sense out of it.

I was confused throughout it. I didn\'t see the first episode so I don\'t know the whole story line. Its on Saturday at 8. I\'m not gonna be home so I\'ll tape it.

The guy who played Merry/Pippin (don\'t know which one) is taller than the movie showed him. Pretty good camera angles during the movie I guess.

For the first few minutes. Then I actually thought about it and realized no :)

The first episode was fairly entertaining, with great HD footage to boot. But sweet merciful crap, must prime time T.V. be riddled with so many commercials? I counted six breaks within a twenty minute frame around the peak of the first hour. And, when they became less frequent they just became longer, usually totalling five minutes. Has everyone acclimatized to this overwhelming barrage of noxious bollocks, or have I just been toiling in the fields too much lately?

Get a TiVo.  Watched both episodes back to back in about an hour and 15 minutes.

And yes, the HD is very sweet.

Kind of slow, and some made for TV acting, but I\'ll keep giving it a shot.

Actually, I have one but was watching it in realtime. I just ended up pressing pause too many times for my liking.

Lost has Terry O\'Quinn, and as the old saying goes.. "Any show that has Terry O\'Quinn is a good show."

Mostly everything that I watch is tivo\'d so I hardly ever see commercials. Maybe that is why I like the show so much. The flow is never really broken up by the tampon ads.

Agreed, and I shall take that route from now on.

ANy show I always give commercial pad and then watch it.  So I would wait until 20 after and then start watching it.  That gives you enough time for commercials.  A half hour show needs about 8 minutes.

I know I\'m not the only one here that is still watching this.

Any ideas on what the hell is going on?

I\'m hating the fact that next week is going to be two old episodes. I\'m curious as hell about what is going on.

I\'ve been watching this show and a slew of others lately.  I\'m usually not one for TV, but with bittorrent, it\'s just too easy to watch good shows and barely lose any time from it.  Got hooked on plenty of REALLY great ones and Lost is but one of them.  I\'m getting the latest episode now via bt so I\'ll chime in with thoughts later.

I\'m still trying to figuer out who the guy is that kidnapped the pregnant girl. They said he wasn\'t on the plane\'s manifest but he looked in too good of shape to have been on the island for any great length of time a.k.a. the french woman.

Maybe he looks good because he got some clothes from the extra suitcases.

I am sorry for that. I should have used spoilers. Forgive me.
I would watch it anyway. There are a lot more details I thankfully left out.
