Great setup , but may I suggest a few things.
(1) If you are not worried about a budget and want to be future proof than the 939 Socket is great, however you are not going to gain that much performance out of it yet. Infact, you can save a lot of money and go with the Socker 754 format and get an Athlon 64 3400, which is a great cpu..
(2) Remember if you go with 939 , you have to buy more expensive registered RAM.
(3) Why spend all that money and get last generation\'s videocard? At least get a standard 6800. You are already spending a ton of money on future based hardware, may as well on the videocard..
(4) For abit more you can get the Soundblaster Audigy ZS Plantium. I have one and must say it\'s a great soundcard.
(5) Why bother with two optical drives, if one of them isn\'t going to be a DVD-R? You can get a good DVD-R just as cheap as one of those CD-RW\'s. May as well get one.
Still - great system. I just built my new one and must say I love it .

This looks like a package to me, i hate packages.. if it is, build it yourself. It looks pretty expensive for something that really shouldn\'t be. Even in AUD thats overpriced.
I agree with LIC on soundcard and Display card. Also, you might want to find out what brands most of the other crap is, Cdroms, LCD display etc..
Also, you shouldn\'t bother getting the standard cdrom. If you\'re got have 2 roms. Get a DVD burner and a normal CD burner.. Liteon or Plextor are the way to go.

If only i had the money to throw into a fullscale project like this.
Its times like these where you wish a bag of money just flew into your arms.
:(
Not a bad set-up at all.

first things come to my mind is that i don\'t like motherboard with built in sound card that support multichannels like this 7.1 channels listed above.
Why?
Because usually built in sound card don\'t sound good, which can mean average to poor frequency response, average to poor signal to noise ratio which could mean noticable noises and less dynamic...
so, it may sound like a good deal for a motherboard with 7.1 sound channels costing only like $40 more something...
but the reason for cheap cost have to do with what i mention above...
if you are serious, go buy a PCI soundcard like Soundblaster Audigy new version and perhap the platinum have enough have the use the 5.25 bay drive for extra connection.

FX-53 :worship:
As for the sound card, the one you listed would work but as stated above, an Audigy would be better for gaming. Paul gave good advice on the onboard sound, from my expierence it sounds horrible, on top of interference I got. Just disable it in the BIOS on boot.
Personally I wouldn\'t buy another Creative product because of all the bloatware and the fact that they use hardware resampling to output everything at 48kHz, which isn\'t good for music. But for gaming i\'ts a nice card.
Motherboard choice is good, Asus has all these overclocking options it\'s not even funny. I\'d also get a better graphics card since you said this is a gaming PC. 6800GT comes to mind too. Did they make mention of a power supply?
And that price seems like a ripoff to me, but I\'ll have to do some searching to make sure.

Ugh, don\'t blow the money on an FX-53..
Go with PCI Express, too. It\'s just about here, and is more future-proof.

Thanks for the input guys. It\'s really appreciated. The only reason I didn\'t do a dvd burner is the fact that my laptop has one. As this being a package deal, it is and isn\'t. The company lets one config.in a variety of ways. Here is a link http://www.ibuypower.com/mall/lobby.htm

I knew it.. Package Deal.. arghhhhh!!

wow, those are really ugly cases (most of them anyway), I like my computer cases clean and neat.

Some of us are not as computer savvy at building our own machines. I don\'t mind installing cards and such, but I don\'t know that I would want to screw around with the board or processor.
Anyone have any recomendations on a decent computer for games? I knew I would get reamed for haveing someone else put it together, it was to be expected

If you\'re gonna get a package. I heard AlienWare machines are top notch. but probably cost a S@#t load for something that could be built for half the cost.

Building yourself ain\'t hard. I\'m not really computer savvy myself.

they come with directions
im assuming you can read

If nothing else, build it yourself so you have an emotional connection..
*pets his new baby*

If you can program a VCR you can build a computer imo. Either get a nerd friend to help you or look at Blue Falcon (http://www.falcon-nw.com/index.asp) for pure performance. Since you mentioned an FX processor I\'m assuming you have cash to spare. ;)
edit- just checked out BF, they suck. Just build it yourself.

Workstations by Boxxtechnologies.com are real popular amongst 3D modelers/animators. They are expensive though. They have some good gaming rigs too I believe, which are cheaper.

mm, funny as usual. I needed a grin this morning. Oh yeah, I do read somewhat.

i\'m looking to build a new pc as well, but gaming won\'t be the primary use (although it\'s a consideration).
I think i\'m going with an Athlon 64 and the 6600 GT. It\'s a pretty impressive video card for 200 bones if you ask me. Is it still worth going with the Athlon 64 if gaming isn\'t the main function of the system? Would a p4 do better all around in apps and such? And what about PCIe? Should I get my system with it?
I\'ve got a few months to make up my mind.
