Title: Def Jam Fight for NY
Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on October 21, 2004, 08:00:51 AM
This is not a bad game, i recommend you guys go hire/rent it.  Its a fighter crossed between well all fighters really. Its got a lot of UFC elements to it. Very cool game. The story mode is very well done. Very cool for a fighter.  Create your own character in pretty much every way you can.

google it.

Don\'t confuse it with Vandetta.  Anyway, i finished it on normal in under 4 hours. For a fighting game thats one long ass story mode..  Very good game.

Fight for New York is fantastic. It\'s the best existing remnant of AKI\'s fantastic N64 wrestling engine (that was actually born on PSone).

The create-a-player is great unless you want to make stables of guys. You only create a guy to take him through story mode. Using him in multiplayer is a bonus.

For difficulty, I lost quite a bit in the beginning when I came to grips with the control scheme. Once I levelled up some, I became pretty unstoppable.

There\'s tons of characters and a great story mode. As long as it is, it\'s still over too quickly. I wanted the experience to keep going, and to me, that\'s the mark of a great game.

I had trouble with Ice-T at the start. Lots, but once i learnt the controls properly and that there was a reverse move (read the instructions, it does amazing stuff)   i just cained through it..

All I havel eft to his get some reward points and open a few more characters that way. I upped the difficulty from medium to hard for that task and I lose a little more often. Carmen Electra is rough! ;]

I might take one more trip through story mode before I put this one to bed. Would like to beat the couple one-off matches that I lost the first time.

I got it on xbox. I enjoyed this one much better than the first.

I don\'t think it was too difficult. It\'s starts of slow and boy was I getting my ass kick in the early rounds. But once I build up my player I was good to go. I hated the elephant man he kicked my ass so many times. Then there was fat joe who would not let you get a hand on him once you get your blaze.  I had problems with Ice-t.  And It took me a while to be sticky fingers. The guy kept on pushing me into the fire.

And if snoop dog gets on a roll he can be a bitch. I liked it and can\'t wait for part 3.

I played on Medium. I got the trophy for not touching the fire the first time I played against Sticky Fingaz. I didn\'t think anything of it until I read your post. ;]

Just wanted to add some sanity to this thread this is the lamest concept for a game EVAR. Pick my rap star to fight another one seriously most of those dudes are pussies I\'ll bet in life Method Man I could kick his ass and I\'m a fat old fart.

To bad to the fighting is actually ok but if I have to choose a new fighting game I guess I\'m going with Fight Club....

Well, i looked past the image factor on the game, Infact i didn\'t even notice many that were rappers. Thats a whiteboy for ya. But if you look pass all the image then its quite fun, but sadly there are people that can\'t look past the image factor.

really so if in the game you could pic lets say Michael Jackson but you buffed him all out and made him to be bigger than he really is and he was gonna fight I dunno The Lead from Limp Bizkit. You would still find this game fun I mean its still the same game just a different "image"

Yea, there\'s nothing wrong with bustin it up with celebs. I don\'t know how many wrestling games I\'ve created myself in, and I\'m not a wrestler, either. It\'s still a damn good fighting game whether the characters are rappers, unknowns, WWE wrestlers or martians.

That\'d all be besides the point if the characters weren\'t worked into the really cool story mode like they are. It\'s a good game, even if the premise sounds silly.

I got it today.

Is it me or are the controls stiff/rugid?
I mean I\'m used to fighters like Soul Calibur and Tekken and this game is obviously slower.

I\'ve never played a wrestling game so that\'s probably it

For example:when I get pummeled by a guy my first instinct is to run away(with the circle button) and to smack him. However because the controls are so stiff I can barely run away.If you run over the battlefield the flow is also slow/rugid/stiff.

I\'ve played it for about 2 hours and my hands were numb from all that hard-pressing on the buttons.

It\'s probably my noobishness as far as wrestling games go.

I\'ve heard this was a great game, I plan on getting it as soon as I save up the cashola for it.  I watched the review on G4 Tech TV, and the physics look great.  Graphics are an okey dokey, as far as any fighting games I think I would enjoy go.  So, it\'s not to tough, eh?  Good, I usually suck at those type of games.

2 days?  i beat it in 4 hours.. Your brother needs practice.

Don\'t forget, its a fighter. 2 days to beat a fighter is a good thing imo..  Takes me 3 - 5 minutes to beat tekken4 on ultra hard with 2 rounds.
