Title: Acquiring fighting skills
Post by: Sara on October 27, 2004, 08:33:26 AM
So I\'ve bulked up at the gym.  But when I go to fight the boxer, I get wasted.  I\'m targeting him and using the block button as well as punching of course.

Anyone have success beating the guy or is it just really hard?  I\'m lucky to land one punch.  I\'m at 100% muscle right now and haven\'t tried since 40% or so since I hate reloading the game.

I just went into the gym and punched all the guys to death because they said I wasn\'t muscular enough. Then I decided to lift some weights :D

Yeah i got wasted once but i reloaded and whooped his ass. Ive only learned the first 3 moves. Have only been able to do 2. The running one i dont get. Do you have to sprint or just run? Meh. Either way - Im the deadliest man without a weapon ;)

I thought he was a push over, I wasted him.  But if your having probs, try wearing brass nucks in the ring.  their are some over by sweets house if I remember correctly, if they aren\'t their just check out around the hood, theirs knucks, armour and some other stuff.

I guess I just needed to work out more.  Wasn\'t even a challenge with 100% muscle.

You have to complete some missions first, then they will appear on the map.

Beating the f*aggot boxer just involves R1 targeting and mashing Triangle + O.  Dumb fighting system really, it\'s all just random.  Blocking doesn\'t work here.

The running clothesline move works best when you\'re chasing down a person that\'s also running.  R1 target him and Triangle when you get close enough.  It\'ll knock him on the ground.

Blocking sometimes works for me.

If you wanted deep fighting then you should know not to look here. O for jabs and stuff, triangle for strong punches? I forgot, but the simple addition of such a fighting system is fine with me. Better than the last games.

Can you actually get into the Karate dojo that\'s advertised in San Fierro?

Yep. Generic training, but you can get a different set of fighting moves in there.

It\'s in southwest San Fierro.

well, i can kick the guys butt all the way to Vice City, all i do is target him and mash triangle. So easy i almost feel sorry for the bloke... almost :)

Do you have to do a mission to open a gym on the second island? i can\'t wait to learn karate.
