I\'m not trying to bash PS2 or anything, but a lot of people at my school who want a PS2 don\'t know jack about it. It might only be my school, but when I ask them why they want PS2 they say,"Cuz it plays DVD\'s." Then I say,"It is only an average DVD player; not really good, but not really bad." After I say that, they have no other reasons to want it. Does this happen to you at your school, home, and/or job?

Actually, my friend has a ps2, and I\'ve played it for many hours. I like ps2, but its not something I want to have right now because the games don\'t really impress me that much. And, I don\'t even have a dreamcast(don\'t know where you got that idea). Oh, and thanks a lot for telling me about your school; I\'m sure its very advanced. :rolleyes:
I was just giving an explanation as to why people would want to buy a ps2 when they know nothing about it. Next time, try not to insult people when you know nothing about them.

People are buying it because of the original PS and because its the "cool" thing. I\'m about postive your school friends don\'t sit down and give you a huge lecture on the technological advancements or first party developers for the PS2. Well at my school we don\'t get per presure to get a console, not one costing 300 pounds.
I have DC and PS2 and love them both, although PS2 hasn\'t much to offer apart from SSX, TS and TTT, it has potential and power, you have to own one or use for a bit to see for yourself. Most people also know what there getting one for,
PS1, PS2, DVD, CD, and eventually Internet, amazing games starting next year to many to list and even minidisc recording. I love Shenmue and MSR, but all people who only like DC and keep putting PS2 down should sod off both consoles are brilliant.
At present PS2 has the power and DC has the games, AT THE MOMENT

A minority of gamers (like those that visit boards like these) research at least a little bit before they make an investment in a gaming console. Most people just buy which ever has the best brand name or get\'s the most commercials with the prettiest pre-rendered movies on them.

Lane isn\'t the best school around Chicago. St. Ignatius is probably the best in the Chicagoland area, but even Ignatius can\'t beat the school I go to, Benet academy, which has the 2nd best ACT scores in IL.

SMS murdered NES in Europe and South America. it was untouchable there.
Genesis outsold SNES in every area except for Japan.
Dreamcast is already on a better pace than PSX was when it came out, a much better pace.

actually, yes, you are right, I develop games on Jaguar. I am trying to perhaps get Songbird to publish them for me. But of course, you dont know what the hell I am talking about, because you only play systems that suck your ****.

Lets not arque with TLUV about "caps". Now he/she (?) knows our opinion about him/her (?) typing in "caps". And, may I disagree with one phrase of your message? Ok, good.
Reading a text all in caps isn\'t easier and faster than with normal letters. It makes eyes hurt and separating words from each other can be hard. Maybe I have a bad sight, or is it a popular problem?
Oh and you should know, AlteredBeast, that Sega has never beaten Nintendo in here ( Finland ). I know this is just a tiny tiny era of marketing; and quite un-important to those big companies like Sony, Sega and Nintendo; but Nintendo\'s 8-bit console was in every third house here. And I\'m not kidding.
Super Nintendo was even more popular.
So you can count the difference. Of course sega sold units until Saturn came out. But... Maybe Finland is a land of "reputation" ( by this statement I mean that finnish people rely lots on reputation.. so Sony sells like hot bread but Nintendo and Sega doesn\'t.. ).
Oh and I quess everyone knows something about PS2 before buys...

I mean, people who buy a certain console has to have opinions about the console; and if you have opinions, you gotta have facts. So, everyone has reasons to buy PS2. These reasons mean acknowledgement towards the console.

Once again, may I point out I own a PS2 , so if it has good games I think I would notice and care. We only rag on your typing because you mis-spell everything and you look like a moron. TLUV kept using caps and its annoying. Even Ddaryl in another forum pointed this out and he is a MOD. By the way, if you think its a 100% guranteed, your even dumber then I suspected.

I\'m quite neutral of hating/loving a certain large console-company.
So I don\'t hate Sega, Nintendo or MS but I don\'t love Sony either. I like all of them, but happens that Sony\'s PS2 suits my taste best.

You obviously have some type of obsession for SONY if you buy PS2 off of name brand. When did I ever say I was going to buy GameCube? I\'ll buy it if it has good games just like any other system I get. This isn\'t a PS2 forum; it is a CONSOLE DEBATING forum.

The way you said that first part makes it seem like one of the reasons why you bought PS2 was because of PS1, but I\'m not 100% sure because I don\'t understand everything you say. GameRiader, whether he says it is the only reason he bought it or one of the reasons he bought it, that doesn\'t change the fact that that is a weak reason to buy PS2. Yep, I had no reason to get a Dreamcast :rolleyes:. Well I have some reasons why someone would want a Dreamcast, which doesn\'t include "because the Saturn was cool".

Cheap
Immediate Online Play
Great games that are already out that I have actually played, BEFORE making my judgement whether it was great or bad. (A.K.A., not automatically saying a game is great because "so and so" made it, and because it looks interesting. Although, if a game were to look interesting I would be interested in renting it to see whether I should get it or not.)
The Great Games and/or Games You Should At Least Be Interested In That Are Already Out, Includes: Soul Caliber, Shenmue, Sonic Adventure, Virtua Tennis, Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II, Quake III: Arena, Samba De Amigo, Jet Grind Radio, NFL2K1, NBA2K1, Starlancer, Resident Evil 4: Code Veronica, Seaman, Tony Hawk\'s Pro Skater 2, Half-Life, Crazy Taxi, Test Drive Le Mans, and many others (depending on what type of games you like)

How can you be so pissed off of someones opinions! Don\'t listen. Ignore. There\'s this thing called self-control. Learn to use it. Count to ten if it takes that. Or do boxing. It\'s REALLY good way to let off pressure and stress, plus it\'s a great excersize.
When I bought PS2 I listened to my personal opinions. I didn\'t give a sh!t what others said.
I couldn\'t care less if you\'re a DC, Nintendo or MS -fan. The only thing that annoys me is this fighting. So stupid, so childish.

You should look back at when GameRaider first came into the forums. He started insulting everyone who disagreed with him and such. I just returned the favor.:)
