Aside from GTA, the only other one I\'d maybe go for is NFSU. Maybe Tennis, but that\'s a distant third.
I\'m still sick of FPS games (post-Goldeneye syndrome). After some time with MGS: Twin Snakes, I\'ve decided the MGS series isn\'t really my cup of tea, either, though I haven\'t given that game a fair amount of playtime with the other games I bought gobbling up my spare time.

I can\'t wait for MGS3...this one just looks damn good. And MGS3 is nothing like the previous games. And I hate tea. But whatever floats your boat...

Two 9\'s and a 10 for MP2. Not bad, but short of the 10/10/10 MP1 got.
Still, not bad all things considered. It certainly got less hype than Halo 2, and wasn\'t expected to exceed the original game as much as Halo 2.
Everybody knew that Halo 2 had to be better than Halo 1 because there was a lot of room for improvement with Halo. Metroid Prime... ehhh... no. Frankly, I\'d be surprised if MP2 topped MP1 and EGM apparently thinks it hasn\'t.

I thought Prime\'s A.I. was far too predictable (you met one pirate then you met them all) The challenge became switching your cannon quickly enough. I also thought the game could have used more variety in enemy types.
There is ALWAYS room for improvement.

Ahem, never said there wasn\'t. Halo had more headroom, that was my point.
I wasn\'t so enamored by the enemy types/AI in MP as I was the brilliant game design in most every other area. In the department of quality A.I., Halo on Legendary blows MP out of the water and into the seafood section.

I think they\'re both exemplary games in their respective approach to the genre, I just don\'t see how Metroid Prime was better in that regard.

Same with MGS and GTA.
So, I think all the big games \'cept HL2 and Vampire (PC) are all going to suck.

Ginko: Halo wasn\'t a bad game. It just wasn\'t the high-9\'s/10 score it received.
My beef with the game was the single-player mode. While it sustained me, when compared to MP\'s quest it pales in comparison. Greatly, IMO.
Now.. that said.. when you toss in the multiplayer (including ironically.. co-op) Halo makes great gains IMHO. It still has shitty level design, though. LD = very, very integral to a solid SP experience.
I also didn\'t think the story wasn\'t as great as people made it out to be. I really liked how MP subtlely introduced its background story but like you said.. they\'re different games and they do different things well.

If MGS3 still has that whore who rings your videophone every 2 minutes I\'ll DEFINITELY skip this one. I can\'t believe Konami didn\'t notice how cheezy and obnoxious those phone conversations were. I still like the first better.
But it still looks like a great holiday season for us nerds. :nerd:

I suppose I\'ll just have to agree to disagree because even after three years, and countless times through, I still rate it a 10. (the multiplayer aspect is good, but I base my score on the single player experience)

I\'m not quite sure how you\'re comparing the two when it comes to level design since they both had vastly different approaches in gameplay. Halo had huge enviroments with full on assault in mind, Prime had small connected rooms based more on exploration and small bursts of enemies. Halo you could go through any level you wanted on different difficulty levels and it was fun to go through numerous times, I didn\'t have any inclination to go through MP\'s quest again.

It was cooler in the first one, cuz I\'ve never seen anything like that. But Otacon is a damn homo, if you ask me. Did you see the ending with Otacon and Snake in the first one? The homo-ness is just radiating from that whole ending. You can tell he wants a ride on the Snake mobile...:mad:
The 2nd one was ok...but they had some seriosuly cheesy crap in there...things that made me lower my head in self-pity, wondering why I\'m making myself endure this game. But there was funny sh*t too. I think overall it was a pretty good game, with a mediocre ending.
As for MGS3, I don\'t think Otacon will be in this...as it\'s set back in the 60\'s....and the whole premise of the game is survival...and it would really hamper the gaming experience if you\'re hiding in the bushes, and some douche-bag is calling you up and telling you how he had sex with his mother (play MGS2) :rolleyes: But um...I still have high hopes for this one. It just looks so damn cool :D

Going by all teh MGS3 info, including snippets from the EGM review, I think this game will rock !
The only friggin\' problem is we PAL region gamers will have
to wait until March 05 just becuz of the damn German, French
and Italian translations.
Konami, quit that bullcrap ! Everybody in Europe (ought to) knows English ! :mad:
Tech excuses are null & void ; there\'s PAL 60 for some years now.
Now I will have to watch out on the internet to NOT get the game spoilt for me.
NTSC release is 16th nov. Now I would accept a PAL release a month later....but March 05 just becuz of the damn multi-language subtitles ? :o

You guys - Its the 60s. Im not so sure Foxhound (or whoever) invented the Codec by then. Im sure we wont be hearing anything from some annoying bastard. Though i do miss Mei Ling and the doctor from MGS1 :p.
Its too bad Meryl had to be MIA in the last MGS.

I don\'t know, I\'m a big sucker for driving around new GTA cities runing around from cops, doing new missions...it\'s all highly entertaining and enjoyable. Too bad it\'s one of the only PS2 series I enjoy. :p Errrm...only one actually. Die Final Fantasy.
Halo2 will be amazing I\'m sure. Another loner I wouldn\'t put up the money to buy an Xbox for. PC gaming>Xbox Live.
MP2 will be more of the same with some new twists and weapons. I don\'t mind Nintendo coming out with sequals like Metroid, Mario, Zelda, simply beause I can\'t get enough of them. New Mario Tennis looks lame though. =/

I am sorry, but I think MGS (THE ORIGINAL EVEN) series is complete crap. Yes, pretty graphics, but the rest is boring story and annoying stealth.
Kojima\'s finest hour was \'Snatcher\', anything else is simply filler for the mass public.

I like the first the most. The second had the lamest plot in the entire world. The first one was cool and fresh when it came out on PSOne in 1998. I\'m hoping the third will be new and innovative, otherwise...Kojima better watch his back...as he may receive a wet tomato projectile in the back of his dome.

After Splinter Cell, it was really hard going back to MGS:TS although I enjoyed it.
Also, Solid Snake is cooler than Sam Fisher but that\'s about it..

All i can say is this month is one hell of a month for games.It\'s a good reason why my X box will be sold Plus games to get....
Metroid prime 2 (gc)
Jak 3 (ps2)
Half life 2 (pc)
Paper Mario 2 (gc)
Zelda MC (GBA)
Already traded fable to get a second Gamecube as the wife has mine on Animal crossing 24/7)
As going to hold off till the launch of the GB SD but this month is just too good for games.

I finally got the EGM and understand why MP2 failed to get all 10\'s. (Shane actually said in his review "why this isn\'t getting a 10".. heh)
Apparently MP2 isn\'t as varied as the first game because of the light/dark world gimmick.. and the multiplayer is last-gen. Meanwhile, Halo 2 and GTA:SA got all 10\'s but somehow Halo 2 still has draggingly repetitive levels at times? The gameplay was sweet enough, Bungie; you fixed the wrong thing!
