So, I went into my local Best Buy today looking for a S-Video cable.
I walk in and I see a big HL2 display. I assume it\'s for pre-orders.
Then I notice the 54.99 price tag on it and pick a box up, shake it and hear cd\'s in there.
So at this point I\'m very confused, so I go and ask the manager in charge about it.
She tells me some kid came in and told her the game was supposed to be released last Tuesday. She then went in the back, saw the crate with the display, and put it at the front fo the store.
I explained to her that the game isn\'t supposed to be out yet and the kid lied to her.
She says "oh well, you want one before I put \'em back in the warehouse"?
SHIT YEAH I DO!
What a happy day.

I just realized I can\'t regester it to play it untill Tuesday:(
-
I wonder if the Best Buy ppl wondered if you were aware of that fact when they sold you that disc early
btw. is there any detailed description in there on how you can register and in how many ways ? I\'m just asking becuz I have an online pc but it\'s crap to play games. My other pc is able to play HL2 but it\'s a workstation which I keep OFFLINE for safety reasons. I heard it\'s possible to register with the online pc and then burn the whole install folder to cdrom. Then with that on the other pc, without that one having to connect to internet....

You just have to regester your cd key once. After that you never have to take the game online again if you don\'t want to. I\'ve been bored at work today and looking into this whole steam regestration thingy and I haven\'t read anything on regestering on one computer and playing on another. I assume its possible but I dunno.
Trust me, the manager was clueless... She thought it was an expansion pack for the original Half-Life.

I got HL2 as well!!!! It\'s on my HD though and I can\'t play before Tuesday either. :D
-
Yeah, It\'s looking like I\'m not as special as I originally thought.
Tons of places are selling the game already.
-
I\'m a lil bit special because I paid $49.99 with free overnight shipping from Gamestop months ago when they were running that package deal with Doom 3.
Though the Steam users get the best deal.

That\'s so stupid that it makes me nauseas  That\'s pretty bad...
-
... well, ... in a way.. it is an expansion to the original Half Life game
-
we have stocks of this game at work but cannot sell it as it is not yet on the computer system.

I did the same. I expected the box would contain the game and at least a manual. Imagine my surprise when I learned it\'s just a lame PDF on one (or all) of the CD\'s.
-
Aww, I hate that. It especially sucks when you want to read the manual right after you buy it.
Nope, sorry, gotta stick it in your CD-ROM drive first.

Dman....
And speaking as an Environmentalist, let me say that trees would have been more than proud than to give their lives for the production of HL2 manuals.
God i hate PDF manuals.... i like to read my game manuals on the BOG! (thats toilet).
