Found this on Penny Arcade. I didn\'t know the gaming industry is like this. I know not all companies are but this is rediculous.

Yea, there\'s a discussion going on at a forum for cg industry professionals, some of whom make videogames. Some of them agreed with the article and voiced their own concerns while others simply nodded and said "that\'s the job, deal with it" and "if you don\'t like it then you can easily be replaced by joe gamer fresh out of college dying to get the job".

mate, all gaming industries are like this. PC and Console alike.
Theres just to many people spewin out of tafes, unis etc that they really couldn\'t give a F@#K about the people they hire anymore.

Welcome to the wonderful wide world known as...The work industry.
Honestly, most jobs will work you to death if they can get away with it. Where I work, we work twelve hour shifts and sometimes six days a week. Then, when you factor in that if you get a promotion you have to start attending meetings and what not, a day can total in over 13 hours.

Disney is the same, my friend\'s been working there for 5 years and he ****\'n hates it!

Every passing day I\'m missing college more and more. :crying: The "real world" definitely sucks.

I work in industry, too. Five 11 hour days a week and sometimes 5 more hours on Saturdays.
Inventory week is coming up and I\'ll likely put in hours of 6:30 a.m. to 7-9 p.m. for about a week and a half. I don\'t mind it for such a short period of time. Pay check should be monstrous.
Unlike with EA, I have a good employer who pays overtime.

I get paid overtime.
I still hate work.
I got promoted.
I still hate work.
Guess what?
No matter what.
I still hate work.

^^^^^
But at least you get paid overtime ;) Sounds like how Akklaim was treating their employees (not quite as bad)...but EA is still a huge super-giant in the gaming industry.

One word my friend; suicide.

I didn\'t like EA already as a gamer/customer. Now I am not surprised at the fact they don\'t pay such overhours and thus I dislike EA even more.
My own job has me doing overhours as well and it even invades my weekends at times ; yet I get paid for those hours I make.
EA = milking out franchises, buncha greedy publishing suits, subpar to horrible F1 games and not paying employee overhours.
EA doesn\'t \'Challenge Everything\' , they \'Ruin Everything\' :o

IMHO this should be grouped together in the computer field in general. I started my work day at 8 am. I will get to go home after noon sometime tommorrow. All with 0 overtime, but I get comp time that I am never able to use.

I bet people complaining are the nerds that get pushed around and punked at EA.
It\'s a job, jobs demand certain expectaions of thier employees, if you geta ll butt hurt go elsewhere.
