The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed that Namco’s Tekken 5 will be released across all platforms. This will mark the debut of the Tekken franchise on both Xbox and Nintendo Gamecube.
No further details about the different editions of the game or release dates were mentioned on the article but we\'ll bring you more information on Tekken 5 as soon as it becomes available.

Bah! I\'m no fanboy but it doesn\'t seem right for Tekken to be on anything other than PS2. I hope they don\'t make any compromises.

Tekken 5 Still PS2 Exclusive

Earlier today, several sites reported that Japanese publication Famitsu featured an article claiming Tekken 5 was headed to the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube in 2005. Namco\'s number one fighting game has been in development for some time, and Namco Japan has confirmed in the past that it would only be arriving on the PlayStation 2.
We checked with Namco Hometek and have discovered that Namco currently has no plans to release Tekken 5 on multiple platforms. While this could change at some point in the future, it\'s safe to say that the recent reports of Famitsu indicating the Xbox and GCN versions are in the works are false.
Tekken 5 is already available in Japanese and Korean arcades, with a scheduled US arcade release later this month. The latest installment in the popular arcade fighting game series includes PS2 controller ports and fully customizable characters. We\'ll have more information on Tekken 5 for PlayStation 2 on Friday.

Another Tekken Tag game would be nice. That was definitely their best game to date. Tekken 4 Was VERY disappointing. I don\'t mind the one-on-one thing, but they just sucked with the last game.

yea that tag option should just be the norm now in any fighting game especially tekken...i still like tekken, even tho the gameplay used is dated, but i really don\'t think this series can evolve anymore without upsetting the balance of the gameplay..

I enjoyed Tekken 4, and I\'d like to try out 5. I just miss the Tag Team gameplay. Tekken 4 is way too short. I can beat it in the arcade in about 2.5 minutes. The hardest setting is stupid (console version)...as they do nothing but block...but the second to last they actually try pulling off combos.

Yep, i own and actively play all the tekkens to date. Tekken 5 should be good, hopefully they put in a create character feature... but thats high hopes.

Tekken 4 was good, but Tag was the pinnacle of the series. I\'ve recently just been getting into Tag at the arcades. Nothing better than a group of strangers all waiting around the machine for their turn.

Hey cocksucker, ever tried playing multiplayer? You\'ll find the game much more fun. Fighting games aren\'t made for the arcade mode.

I wasn\'t talking about Arcade mode in the game itself. I was referring to the ACTUAL arcade machine =) I never play arcade mode with the console version...and I usually only play it with friends. Even though I bought Tekken 4, I found myself still playing Tekken Tag a lot more. I guess I just can\'t let it go :( Soul Calibur is a pretty awesome party/friend game as well. I\'ve always enjoyed it since its debut on Dreamcast...

I personally found TTT to slow, stupid pal versions... Atleast they gave a 60hz option for us pal gamers in T4.

i think we can all agree that as far as the tekken series is concerned..the ps2\'s graphic capabilities is maxed out..not a bad thing tho..tekken still looks good..

i\'ve always felt that the tekken characters were alot cooler than virtua\'s..add also the progressing storyline of each character and it slightly has the edge over virtua fighter...oh and this chic here looks better than that storm wanna-be from virtua fighter...this is the last pic..so don\'t worry..i\'m not in "hot babe thread mode" :p

From those screens i wouldnt say tekken 4 has MAXED the Ps2. True, it has come a long way but i think that it could still be pushed a little bit. Of course the exploratory phase of deciphering the ps2 is about over. Now people just make games with the knowlege they have.

I hate this with a passion. I hear Street Fighter Anniversary collection is going to the xbox with online play. If you ask me, all the fans loyal to capcom 2d fighters and games of the like would most likely have ps2\'s if nothing else. I HATE compromising when doing the multi platform thing.
And as for Tekken 5 - 4 was ok but nothing spectacular. Tekken Tag was indeed a better game IMO (at first i hated the damn thing). I also didnt like the semi limited player roster for 4. I dont know about 5 but the last 3D fighter that i enjoyed was SC2 and even that experience wasnt spectacular.
Long live 2D fighting :p

Guilty Gear for me :D And I will always love Street Fighter...that\'s one of the first gamesI actually played in the arcades when I was a youngin\'...but when they went 3D on us...I thought they needed to die.

The console version of TTT in PAL territories didn\'t offer a 60hz version, and wasn\'t converted very thoroughly, so it was verrryyyyy slllooowwww..
And considering Tekken Tag looked better, I\'d hardly say Tekken 4 maxed out the PS2. ;) Although that jungle stage. :O

Third Strike doesn\'t run any better online than the other 2D fighters released so far, so who cares. Canceled my preorder after I played the region-free JPN version. Played against a friend who wasn\'t even 2 miles away from me and there were some big delays, can\'t parry worth nothin\'.
You may stick with the PS2 version.
Seriously, can somebody tell me why Itagaki was able to get Dead or Alive: Ultimate, a 3D fighter, to run almost flawlessly online, yet Capcom and Sammy\'s efforts have failed miserably?

Alex Valle told me on IRC it\'s because 2D fighters are all about timing, 3D are less strict.
Not sure how difference the online experiences are.

I think tekken three was one of their better ones, especially with the introduction of brian fury. However, the characters Devil and Angel were good too, not forgetting Ogre of course.

And Nu - Still. Ive never tried the other 2d\'s online. I dont care if they suck really. Its just the fact that all the online ones have been for xbox which is dumb as f***.
Anyway
I went to play tekken 5 and it was pretty good. Not the visual showcase that i thought it might be but theres no doubt that its gorgeous. Better than tekken 4 i suppose. No huge leap though.
Of course the action on the Guilty Gear XX machine was much hotter :p

And Brian/Ogre sucks, Wilksta. And the only reason to use Devil/Angel is for a health advantage in Tag if you\'re other partner is like, Wang or Xiuouaouisoiasoua or anyone with low health.
I\'ve spent so much time/energy/money over the last couple of months getting good at Tag, I don\'t want them to come out with any more Tekkens!! :(

I know what you mean, but no matter how hard I practice, my friend always kicks my ass, pulling off moves I didn\'t even think were possible in the game (he\'s Asian of course...damn Asians!!) :p

Btw what nationality are the guys from TekkenZaibatsu from?They perfom some pretty superb complex combos!!I still cant understand for an example how they link some of Law\'s moves after some combo hits.For example they perfom right, left kick then they link the move that is performed by pressing {down (left/right punch)+ left punch} flawlessly withtout a pause between the two previous hits and the final command!

Even with those skills, my Asian friend still mops the floor with me. He visits Tekken Zaibatsu more frequently than I, but again...he\'s Asian...so it doesn\'t really matter how hard I practice, I\'ll never win!! :(

I sometimes wonder how these Asians have such fast reflexes, and skills.I rarely visit Zaibatsu.But I ve got some old zaibatsu combo movies and some old Korean fight movies from Tekkencentral!
They just cant be human!
And its not just in videogames they have such skills!

But its not my fault.In my counry you dont get to find good players in fighting games.Especially on 2D games.
The only good opponents I found where Tekken players and they mostly pick cheap players like Paul, and if they ever pick up another character they usually only perform the predefined combo combinations from the command list.
I ve never seen a player in Cyprus who uses complex jaggling.

No player is "cheap" only people that can\'t beat them bitch about lame crap like that.
If you can\'t beat Paul, don\'t bitch when the guy next to you chooses him, if you can.. What’s the problem???
I personally play all characters, mainly Jin, Paul, Kazuya, heihachi, King, Law and Bryan. If anyone calls me cheap for a character i choose, and I’ve pretty much heard every person i play say a certain character is "cheap" and its pretty much all of them lol, but mainly eddy / christie.
Then they can kiss my ass and learn to fight against the "cheap" characters, because i just can\'t see ANY reason to call a character cheap unless you have problems fighting against them.
If you want a good challenge, i\'m sure booby and me would give you one. :)

Man it\'d be great to challenge all you guys. I can pretty much go 50-50 with all the best players at my local arcade (located upstairs in the shopping centre where I work) except for one guy who I just can not beat no matter how many times I try. I\'ve seen him get beaten by players I can beat, but.. ugh!
It\'s hard work catching up with players who have played non-stop for years and know ALL of the most powerful combos/juggles with every damn character. Getting your ass handed to you by Testujin is always embarrassing. But always fun. :D:D

p.s. I\'d hardly call Paul a cheap character. Sure you can basically kill someone with a well times Death Fist followed up with a charge, once you get more advanced with him, he\'s almost impossible to hit. I use his sway motion to great effect to dodge almost every high attack/grab attempt thrown at me. And of couse swaying back, hitting LP on a counter hit smashing them into the air and then deathfisting them before they hit the ground is still the coolest looking move in Tekken. Besides perhaps Paul/Laws custom tag combo which always brings out a "holy shit" whenever you hit someone with it. :D Along with Jin\'s WGF - uf,n,4 - 14 - df44
I mostly use Kazuya, Jin, Paul, Law, Tetsujin, Heihachi, Jun, Bruce, Bryan, Devil, Wang, Lee oh hell, most everyone except for the girls who I haven\'t gotten around to learning, and the King\'s.

heh yea ive been fiending for some good tekken lately myself
but as of late ive been on Guilty Gear XX Reload at the arcade here
been learning Zappa since so few people use him i want to make him my best - amazing the shit one can do with Zappa if you know how
but in tekken gotta say lei, devil, julia, christie/eddy non mash style lol, and mushima family - play with everyone well just rather play with some more then other oh and favorite combo in tag was armor king and king - ungoddly dmg with those grapples - heh rolling chicken :P

Never had any respect for someone who spent all their time trying to get you into one of King\'s chains.. ;)
Luckily you can just duck most of the time (which will leave you open to his crouching grapple if your opponent is smart) so you can destroy them with juggles after that.

Bobo - about the one guy you cant beat - Its probably just a mental thing. That or technique style. It happens all the time with me or at least it used to. There are certain things that you dont do that a lesser or w/e player may do that the other is weak against mentaly or technique wise.
I guess its kinda hard to explain w/o going into some long drawn out thing.
Nice to see there are more XX players Sublime. Zappa is indeed crazy if you know how to use him - i never was able to. There arent too many characters that are completely imbalanced in that game. Though i must say that i hate testament and i used to hate anji. Im sure there are more characters i dont like but i just cant get into testament (using him that is).
A couple of days ago i saw some intense battles between a baiken player and a may player - it was my first time seeing a GG arcade. If only we could all play. Im dying for some control stick compettition.

Bah I can beat an opponent in Tekken4 without much of a problem although I find Paul more challenging in TTT.The thing is I am bored of players choosing Paul and performing the same moves.And if he gets lucky once and hits you with Paul\'s trade mark punch in TTT then almost half of your life bar goes down, sends you a distance and then runs at you to get you.
They all do the same shit.They use no tactics.Paul\'s standard chain combos are easily avoidable every time they perform it though.
I rarely find good tekken players that stand out as much as you guys.
Almost every Tekken player in cyprus chooses king or Paul.
I used to find some challenging TTT players years ago but now I hardly find anyone even playing fighting games at the arcades.(they tend to fill every arcade with modified XBOX\'s now and everyone is playing FIFA on it or some other non-challenging XBOX games.HOW BORING)
They also stopped spending time with since Tekken4 appeared because their previous tactics are less effective
I remember beating someones ass all the time in Tekken4,then tried to challenge me in TTT using Paul(just like most people in my country).All he did where the basic ground chain combos with Bake and Paul\'s trade mark punch in TTT.So far I ve never seen anyone performing cool jaggling combos.I beat the shit out of him just with less ease than in T4
I am so dissapointed I cant get better because I rarely find the chance to play against somene and its been a long time since I had a good fight so I suck badly now.I simply cant get better just playing againts the stupid CPU
I just hope some day I ll be able to get online with Tekken and play against good players like you guys and have my ass kicked :)

Im by no means a tekken master and for the longest time i hated tekken tag - Then for some odd reason i started to like it. *shrugs*
In the other tekkens i usually play as hworang but in tag i love Jun and then the other character varies.

I like the combination of Jin and Heihachi in Tag.
Btw:Years ago I downloaded a video from Zaibatsu with Jin appearing as Devil Jin in the arcade version but I ve never seen this in real life.
He looks just like normal Jin except that he emitsan elctrifying efect and his health bar is continuously reduced but his hits are more powerful.
Anyone managed to play as Devil Jin?

Yep, simply choose Heihachi as your tag partner then press Back + L/R punch together as jin does his defensive technique quickly press Right punch, Right Punch, Left kick. You will now be devil Jin.. He only has a few moves and if you block or do any attack that isn\'t one of them he will no longer be Djin. I can\'t remember the moves because its been a long time since i\'ve played TTT.
If this isn\'t what you\'re talking about then i have no idea.

I think that must be it.The video hinted that you must have heihachi with you although it didnt explain how you become Devil Jin.In the video whoever was controlling Jin was doing lots of superb combos while remaining in Devil Jin state.He must be one hell of a master if he performed all the right moves so fluently while remaining in that state.

My PS2 currently doesnt play Tekken Tag to try it since it has problems reading CD format disks.
Popped in Tekken4 though after a long time due to studying and no friend to play against...Boy how I suck now!!! :mad:

I\'ve been trying to get the people I work with to get into Tekken Tag, but despite the fact that I teach them moves and juggles, they refuse to listen and continue to button bash. BAH!
I really think there is NOTHING better in gaming than when a group of really great Tekken players get around a machine for an hour or two and just try to beat eachother. :D

You\'re talking about Jin\'s Omen Stance(aka Devil Jin Possesion). It\'s been a while since I\'ve popped in TTT, but I believe you have to have Heihachi as your partner to use this.- First use the Lightning Field: b+1+2
- Then quickly press 2,2,3 in the middle of the Lightning Field\'s animation. And then you\'ll be in Jin\'s Omen Stance.
From here, you can use an upgraded EWGF and TGF that both electify and damage the opponent a tad when guarded, a more powerful Stonehead, Hellsweep, and Corpse Thrust(my favorite)and a new chain combo that does about 7 hits if I remember correctly.
His TGF, and Hellsweep are basically just like Heihachi\'s. In fact, he takes Heihachi\'s fighting pose when he goes into Omen. All of his Omen-exclusive moves take a bit of your vitality every time you use them.
