Title: eMotive
Post by: (e) on November 17, 2004, 04:55:40 PM
A Perfect Circles new cover album.

Ive been listening to it since the day it came out- awesome renditions.

I was dissapointed at the serious lack of origional songs though.

Thoughts?

Emotive = An album of cover songs. No original songs. Even the so-called original track , \'Passive\', is actually a reworked song called \'Vacant\' from the project Tapeworm. There is also a remix on it. Through out it all tho\', it\'s a decent album, but nothing special.

aMotion = An album of nothing but remixes.. Really quite pathetic. Also the DVD has all the video\'s (some edited) and one live performance of \'Noose\'.

You got no clue. Actually this was Billy Howerdel\'s idea and the general idea is they wanted out of their contract with Virgin Records. So, to get out of it they released eMotive and aMOtion. Maynard is back with Tool, thank God.

I liked a lot of A Perfect Circle\'s music...but Tool is infinitely better. I\'m never seeing him in concert though (Maynard is a sick bastard), as last time he hung naked upside while pleasuring himself...that was disturbing. Plus the moshpits kind of f*cked me up a bit :( Paying to have people kick my ass with no sympathy isn\'t a fun experience. Thankfully the concert crew broke it up.

HAHAHA, thats funny.

I have been to 2 Tool concerts and both were out of this world, first one had peope walking around on all fours bobbin thier heads about, and people swinging fromt h ceilings, it was awesome! Second was the Lateralus concert and they had monster big screens all around and they were playing music videos, when they played parabola it was insane. The mosh pits did a job on me but thats what it\'s all about.

And CHIZZY wtf do you mean boring? Would Lynard Skynard wet your noodle?

not at all too happy with emotive (screw those capital letters).

Found the songs boring, and I was looking forward to seeing what they could do with Imagine and even that sucked, Maynard kinda mumbled through the song while this was a great song for him to test his vocal range.

Yet the remake of Imagine was about as uncommercial as a song can get.

Imagine was one of the soor points on the albumn. It was good to have Billy singing on a couple of tracks. People are People was nifty.

The high points on the album are When the Levee Breaks, Passive and What\'s Going On.. IMO. The latter sounding almost INXS-like in execution.

But I\'m soorly waiting for the next Tool album. I wouldn\'t go as far as saying that Tool are much better than APC, but it\'s just been so damn long, again. After Lateralus they assured us that we would definately not have to wait 5 years for their next album. Although, thinking about it, I believe they actually said it definately won\'t be 5 years unless they undertake something huge, along the lines of Pink Floyd The Wall. So, perhaps a double album? I know they do still have a lot of songs left over from the Lateralus recording sessions, so something as massive as that shouldn\'t take too long.. should it?
