Title: big problem
Post by: severehedtrauma on November 20, 2004, 10:02:07 AM
I don\'t know how the hell this happened, but I\'ve got two tiny scratches on my copy of SA. Now it\'s all fecked and nothing wants to load. Any products available to fix scratches for PS2 games?

Returning it doesn\'t look to be an option as I can\'t find the receipt and paid in cash.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

silicon cloth maybe, could try to put it in the freezer. That solves a lot of problems.

There is a device you can buy from many games shops called a Game Doctor. It repairs scratched disks so they can be read once again.

Bring it back to the store. Tell them it has a scratch on it, and while you don\'t have the receipt, you just want to even exchange for the same game.

That worked for me at WalMart.

Then, be careful with it. DVDs and PS2s don\'t necessarily get along. Don\'t pound the top of your PS2 while it\'s playing the game, either. ;]

The freezer method fixes everything, that\'s a fact.

My old freezer packed up, so I bought a new one to put the old one in to fix it. Now I have 2 working freezers.

Does anyone want to buy a freezer?

Game Dr. is 50/50.  It made my Tekken disc even WORSE than before the treatement.  Took it to a used CD shop which has a professional resurfacing machine and it played and looked like new.

Call EB or Gamestop and ask if they have a machine or service like this, they deal in used games.  If not search for Used cd shops in your area.

I\'m always willing to make extra space for someones WANG.

By hook or by crook, if I can get a WANG in, I\'m a happy bunny.

FWIW, I\'ve heard that regular toothpaste will work on minor scratches but I\'ve never tried it.

My SA disk got scratched also and wouldn\'t play.  I was able to exchange it at BestBuy though because it was within the 30 day period.

Yea, I thought that toothpaste thing was a joke, but someone here made a pretty convincing argument for it. I\'ll be damned if I ever do it....

Though if I have a cd that\'s f\'ed up, what the hell not, right?

It does work. I tried it on a PC CD-ROM once (back when home burned CD\'s were starting to show).
