I\'m now up to 1024 MB of RAM.
It feels good, and I\'m one step closer to fully enjoying half-life 2.

And I\'m as far away as you can possibly get :(

Except maybe 2.  SP2 loads MUCH quicker after getting another gig.

sp2 = crap.  Theres really no reason to install it.  2 gig is overkill atm. Soon enough you\'ll need 2 gig, but by then they will be new mem standards.  I could only see 2 gig of ram usefull in Video Editing.

If nothing else 1.5 gigs is a good medium.
:Shrugs:
Then again, I remember the day\'s before those 128meg chips.
:D

I remember when Johnny Mnemonic was out (what, 9 years ago?) and it had a computer with 2 gb RAM - it was totally futuristic and exotic. Nowadays it\'s nothing special, now that\'s scary.
:grab:

Same here, even WITH my 2 gb of Corsair DDR500 twinx (which runs underclocked btw on my 875P mobo @ spd settings)...

I have a gig of ram and it seems like that isn\'t enough for me.

What are you doing that requires more then 1 gig?

			-
^ 3D modeling in Cinema4D or Maya. Usually, the models themselves, even if high poly, don\'t require more than 1 gb.
But if alot of image file textures are used 2 Gb is nice to have
if you want quick responsiveness while working in 4 viewports.
Some insanely high particle FX renders also like to eat up memory.

Well nothing  but when your doing multiples things that require a lot of memory.  And I guess it\'s the idea of the more the better.

Since where on johnny the I thought the whole dolphin thing was kind of stupid.
All in all still a decent flix

Things like Windows Media Encoder can be a drag with 1gb of even high performance ram.  Throw in 2gigs and for some reason or another it runs like butter when switching menus and settings.

works fine for me on 1 gig.

Try opening a 3+ gig HuffYUV file with uncompressed audio and get back to me on that. ;)

Or editing a 60MB image in Photoshop with all the advanced filters...

like i said, vid editing and as knot said, 3d editing are the ONLY reasons needed for anything over 1 gig..
