Who else is getting it?
-
I hate this game...it\'s too addicting.
And yes, I\'m getting it ;)
-
I\'ll be playing on the Central Realm Whisperwind as an undead Warrior. I have yet to decide on a name or a final character build though. Was too busy doing work today to even install my new CE of WoW. I did manage to rip and listen to the soundtrack, however. :)
-
i got on easthern realm bloodhoof.
i am level 9 gnome warlock named sobert
kick ass game, silk smooth launch. From account creation, caracter creation, to level 1 to 9 everything was flawless. (took 4 hours with the dinner AFK)
tips#1: if you want to avoid 75% of the Bnet kiddies, play on a PvE server :)
-
I\'ll be getting this one FO SHURE!
-
Be sure to all post your usernames here... I\'ll be picking up the game in the next couple days.
-
I should mention that I am on a PVE server as well. I guess we\'re all going to spread ourselves thin across this game though it seems. No server discussion = everyone scattered. I only decided on a central server simply because it\'s a nice middile ground between myself on the west coast and so many friends I have on the East coast. It was just a logical choice. SCREW YOU FOREIGNERS! ;)
-
May pick it up in a few weeks. My first MMORPG was CoH and while it is fun, I have yet to get a character past level 16, due to the fact there are no items to gain or anything. Just fight, repeat, wash and rinse. How is the character creation in WoW? Main problem I have read with EQ2 is the fact that they say most the characters look the same early on.
-
caracter creation in WoW is.... DoH, suck.. if you compare it to CoH.
The good thing about WoW is how easy it is to learn.. and how easy it is to get hooked ;)
1 to 10 will take anyone about 6 hours. By then you get lots of new ability, lots of equiment. if you do every quest that is offred to you, you\'ll have 30 completed at least.
Quest are nice as they make you discover the land. after a few quest here and there they make you travel to other city, easy progression.
Lastly, most server are actually unplayble ATM. the LAG is scary. but they just added new server, and the situation seem fixed. tomorow should be better...
-
Got my character -- name is Marrow, an undead warrior.
-
What\'s the monthly fee?
-
It\'s 14.99 after the first free month. They have multiple packages though for three months and six months I believe.
Anyways, for those looking to play, I\'m a level 4 undead warrior on the Central PVE server, Whisperwind. My character\'s name is Marrow.

monthly fees:
1 month: 14.99
3 month: 13.99
6 month: 12.99
the Central PVE server, Whisperwind. My character\'s name is Marrow.
they had 42 server at launch, adding 34 more in the next 2 days.
I have 3 character now spread through 3 realms, because "emergency maintenance" was done on the server i had caracter on hehe.
-
I\'ll be on the central server "Hellscream"
Characters name is Banana Hammock.
-
Simple question, does it have a Single Player element to it, or is just MP only?
-
it just MP. all MMO are MP only
-
well...
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/worldofwarcraft/review.html
9.5/10 off gamespot. translate well the addiction.
-
Now that I\'m quite a few hours into the game I can fairly say it is freakin\' awesome.
If anybody here plays on the Azgalor server look me up, my character name is "Luke" how original eh?
-
I\'m thinking about getting this but don\'t really know since the monthly fee is so high. is this game really that good? to the point where you can spend 13, 14 bucks on it every month? I\'m so busy with other stuff that I\'m lucky if I have a day to play it each week. I don\'t know...and with all the server slow down I\'ve been hearing I don\'t think I should get on it that fast just yet...
-
the uk sub should be about £8.99 a month.
Not to bad thats like ONE pint of beer or Ale-a-week less down my local pub ...
Ah bugger it...Beer is the devils drink anyway ;)
/me add\'s WoW to list
-
I don\'t know...and with all the server slow down I\'ve been hearing I don\'t think I should get on it that fast just yet...
their aint no server problem anymore. Most of the problem, like 95% came from the fact that few uber guilds all coordinate to join on the same server. Many people that werent in these guilds decided to play on the same server (PVP) to join the fun.
Wich resulted in "queues" and server outage.
Personally, i went with a low population, PvE east server. never had once a queue, had 1 server crash and 1 emergency maintenance (2nd day).
The server problem arent as bad as WoWboard leads to belive.
-
Yeah, I play on a real high pop server (Hellscream) and I\'ve never had any problems.
And yes, it is worth the $13 a month, It\'s frickin awesome.
-
Playing on the Silver Moon PVE server. This game is a blast - much better than my experience with EQ.
Name: Urzahil - undead warrior
-
Damn.... Ill wait to see what mm says, he played EQ also.
-
I\'ve been loving this game. I pulled my warrior to level 13 when the game first came out over a day or so of play during thanksgiving break. After that, I had to stop playing for 3 weeks because of finals and what not. Now though, I\'ve been playing a ton. I\'m a level 32 Undead Warrior on the Whisperwind server named Marrow. Long live the Horde!
-
WoW is targeted directly as casual players, thats a big negative for me right off the bat.
the biggest thing i hated about WoW? the bnet community.
yeah, Diablo 2 all over again.
don\'t get me wrong, EQ2 has it\'s own faults
-
the biggest thing i hated about WoW? the bnet community.
yeah, Diablo 2 all over again.
You couldn\'t be more wrong about this. I\'ve only run into one moron, but that had nothing to do with bnet and everything to do with the fact that he was just cocky and over zealous and got himself killed too much. Everyone else has been nothing but great players. A lot of the bnet community didn\'t filter into WoW because a lot of that community doesn\'t want to pay a monthly charge. It\'s a fact of life that the majority of the spawn Blizzard has in their forum goers are those playing the games for free. WoW kind of made them stay away from it.
WoW is targeted directly as casual players, thats a big negative for me right off the bat.
I don\'t get this. Can you elaborate?
-
not really, i dont care enough to get into a WoW vs EQ2 debate
i tried both, and played the one i like more
besides, if i wanted to play WoW again, the client was already cracked and no reason to pay a monthly fee when there\'s dozens of servers out there.
another reason?
http://www.blizzhackers.com/
pathetic
-
Sounds like a lot of excuses to me. It\'s cool though. You don\'t like it, that\'s your prerogative. I just didn\'t understand what made WoW more casual than any other MMO.
-
Ryu - where can an undead warrior go and get the 2h axe skill and the bow skill?
-
The bow skill can be found in Orgrimmar in the Valley of Honor in one of the blacksmith shops towards the back. You can pretty much learn all distance weapons there except for guns which is taught in Thunderbluff. Two handed axes can be learned in the Sen\'Jinn Village in Durotar deep south of Orgrimmar. I also heard you can learn in Orgrimmar but I have not seen him.
If you have not been to Durotar, take the zepplin just north of Undercity across the sea and it drops you right next to Orgrimmar.
-
What is Orgrimmar? Troll city? Orc city? I am assuming it is Horde friendly.
-
I got it for Christmas and don\'t really know my way around...
Don\'t even know what server I\'m on...
Any help?
-
Ogrimmar is Orc city. its a major city with an Auction House, and also an instance dungeon (16+) rage fire chasm.
a good tip when you are in a city, over your cursor a guard, if your cursor change to a talking bubble, right click it and it will give you a list of stuff you can ask.. like where is the weapon master.. where is the priest trainer.. it will then mark it on your map (press "M")
Ashford.. i strongly suggest you to restart if you arent too far, and take the time to choose your server. you really want a server with medium/high population )easier for grouping, already working economy, etc..) then choose either PvP / PvE or role-play
-
What is Orgrimmar? Troll city? Orc city? I am assuming it is Horde friendly.
It\'s the orc capital city in Durotar. It\'s Horde friendly. The three main cities for the Horde are Thunderbluff (Taurens), Undercity (Undead), and Orgrimarr (Orcs).
If you have any more questions about WoW, feel free to ask. I\'ve been around quite a bit and can help you with pretty much anything. My character name is Marrow and I\'m an Undead Warrior on the Whisperwind server. I\'m currently level 35.
-
Me and a good buddy of mine are starting a guild on the Hellscream server.
If anybody wants to start a character on there and get it on it with us send me a message... Character name is Luc.
-
I would love to join you guys, but I dont\' want to start over - my character is finally looking somewhat decent. Any offers to twink if I come over?
-
How do I know what server I\'m on?
-
Once you log in and it shows your character - look up to the top right it should say a name. ie. Silvermoon in my case. There is also a change server button up there too.
-
We should all play on the same server:(
anybody up for starting new characters on the same server?
-
I will if more people join in. Gotta be the horde though ;)
-
Ah dammit. I\'m the horde now and I wanted to be a night elf:(
What server do you play on Giga?
-
Silvermoon and its population is relatively low. I think it is a newer server. I am only 12th level right now. Haven\'t played in a couple of days.
-
shit, youre barely a pup.
I got a level 24 hunter and I\'m starting to get bored of him... We should work something out.
On Hellscrem the population is always high... I could never play on a low population server.
-
Let me know - I am heading home in about 10 minutes will be on WoW later.
-
Yes. If I create a new character, it\'s going to be on a high pop server. I prefer PVE as PVP servers can get REAL nasty with its population. There\'s plenty of time for the PVP stuff on the PVE servers with raids and what not. I have a Horde warrior already and I\'ve played a night elf so if I createa new character, it\'s going to be a human Paladin.
-
Well, lets figure this out then. Us three can maybe get something going.
Ryu, if you want to make a Paladin that works out cause I want to make a Night Elf Rogue.
Giga, you sure you wont consider anything but Horde?
I\'ll look over the PvE servers tonight and make a few suggestions.
-
Hrrm I hate casters - so if I can go with a Paladin that would be cool. Lets determine a server and a night/time to all meet up. The person should choose and create a character and leave the characters name here so we can find one another.
-
Well, I nominate Hellscream. It\'s PvE, It\'s got a real nice pop. and my good buddy is starting a guild on the Horde side, so we have an instant arch-enemy:)
-
Well, I made a player on hellscream named "Lucasbiggins".
-
What race are you?
-
night elf.
I was gonna tell you Gig if you want to be Horde just start a character on Hellscream as Horde and you can be in our guild... when we eventually start it.
I\'m still going to play my Tauren Hunter on Hellscream quite a bit. I just really want to try something else out.
-
I wanted to try a rogue, but since you are one, I will create a Paladin. Actually I did create one and the server just crashed.
-
Dude, make a Horde Rogue... Trolls rule. I\'ll help you level him up.
Yeah server is down... dammit.
-
Ok making troll and name will be Snottigrubb
-
Right on.
My name on Hellscream is Luc.
-
Still freaking down.
-
I have a feeling it\'ll be down for awhile.
I\'m goin to bed, I\'ll see you in game.
Next time I get on I\'ll send some silver your way to get you going on gear and whatnot.
-
I\'m a Level 5 Human Mage...
-
Make a new Horde character on Hellscream.
-
Ok I am all set - I made the character this morning.
Name: Snottigrubb
Server: Hellscream
When I get home this evening I will log on.
-
so, I\'m thinking of picking this up. Are you homo\'s still digging the game, is it worth me spending my hard earned money on?
-
I am. I think it\'s great. Then again, good luck finding a copy not on Ebay.
-
how far along is it, are the majority of people already uber powerful? Is it where a noob is going to be constantly killed, and raped?
-
im on Stormreaver PVP server atm - only at 25 druid tho on alliance pretty fun stuff but i also play final fantasy xi still so not as much time as i would like to play
-
got a lvl 26 gnome warlock that i put in the fridge a while ago.
got a lvl 29 troll priest that i really like.
how far along is it, are the majority of people already uber powerful? Is it where a noob is going to be constantly killed, and raped?
it all depends. i strongly suggest you play on a PvE (normal) server. PvP is still there, its just that you can choose when to PvP or not.
With the comming of battleground soon (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/battlegrounds.html) there will be loads of PvP fun on PvE server.
The majority of the population are between 25 to 35. A Lot of people are all playing alts or restarting a new character so you can always find group and stuff to do anytime.
-
I still play it at least an hour a day.
Giga and I are in a clan on Hellscream called Kobra Kai.
I ditched my level 24 Hunter and I am now a rogue.
I\'m a frickin\' ninja.
GIGA! GET BACK ON MAN!
-
Kobra Kai? hahahaha.
Sweep the leg. You have a problem with that?
-
Been so busy bro. I am still only level 10 on there. I will try and get on soon.
-
It\'s cool Giga, I\'ll see you in game.
And Ryu... STRIKE FIRST STRIKE HARD NO MERCY SIR!!!!!!!
-
WoW sucks like wow.
...
Still got it.
-
Warriors need some serious overhauling by Blizzard. I miss more than I hit and can\'t keep aggro when in a group.
I have great equipment and skills are where they should be, but I can\'t do the damage of any other class - ie. rogue, shaman, mage and especially warlock. I know warriors aren\'t meant to dish out the most punishment, but between miss, block, parry and dodge I am hitting 4 to 5 times out of ten and with rage the way it is - it is just impossible to use any abilities when in a miss streak. When I am attacking mob\'s 2 levels higher I hit maybe 2 or 3 out of ten on average. Some warrior abilities are a joke - thunderclap for instance. Taunt = worthless and you can\'t taunt when in battle stance - wtf??? Forget about going up against a caster as our "great" armor is nulled as well.
I love this game, but Blizzard needs to fix this along with their server problems.
-
Warriors blow.
-
Just reroll an Undead Priest and pwn shit. I don\'t get why some people play bad classes. :p
-
I picked it up, and having difficulty enjoying it. I am not a fan of its interface, and its gameplay. Maybe I spent too long on COH and not giving it a chance. Highest toon is 6 I think.
-
6 is not high enough. You need to give the game till at least 20 before calling it quits. If by then you still hate it, even after trying 2 or 3 different classes, then quit.
-
I have a 33 Warrior and am enjoying it. I figured out it all depends on what equipment you get and how you actually use your skills in combat. When dueling an 33 level orc warrior last night I crushed him - he didn\'t even take a quarter of my health away and I was hitting at 350 crit with an avg of 175 per hit.
Also download Cosmos - great add on interface that makes things a lot easier and has some nice features.
-
Wish character creation could have been a it more. Does it ever lose that feeling of hey.... there I go.
-
My roommate plays this game for 10 hours a day. He wakes up at like 1 in the afternoon and starts.. the only time he breaks is for the bathroom and for food. Other than that he\'s basically on it until 3am.
He somehow found a way to suck 4 other guys on my floor into it\'s wrath by encouraging them to buy it.. which they all did today. Now everyone is going to sit in their rooms all day playing this damn game..
-
With the heaps of equipment options, I think it\'s hard to find yourself once you surpass level 20 or so.
-
Does it ever lose that feeling of hey.... there I go.
Yeah somehow.. when you go over 25 you usually have several spot to quest.
Like if you are horse, you get barrens, stonetalion, elwyn forest, areas around undercity, tousand needles...
it\'s always pretty stright foward thou, you just get more options where to quest.
-
I play with people all day sometime that bought WOW in MXO and most say when it goes live they prolly wont even play WOW anymore.
-
I am level 35 now and am doing quite well - half my equipment is blue and I can own every other warrior of equal level I duel. I dumped a ton of skill points in fury and arms and use a 2 handed sword with a +5 enchantment.
Finding things to solo is no problem at all I can handle 2 mobs of equal level at once with only losing half of my health and can handle 3 losing 3/4 of my health. Most quests I can complete myself with the exception of instances.
I play on a PvE server, but when someone is attacking the Horde guards in my location I usually run over to check it out. Caught a 38 Night Elf Hunter by surprise (though he did have full health and his pet) and easily killed him. Charge and hamstring and he couldn\'t do a thing. I was hunting some NE guards a while back and was jumped by a NE rogue 2 levels higher and didn\'t lose that battle by much.
I really am enjoying this game, hopefully I will be up to the task level wise then battlegrounds is added. I can pretty much gain a level with 4 hours of play now.
-
its pretty sick giga :)
i played about 2-3 hours yesterday. competed 7 gromgol quests wich gave me 11000 exp. almost completed a whole level.
rarely i can compete that many quest in such a short laps thou =X
I am not wearing much blue pieces.. guess i am not lucky and havent complete many instance :(
level 37 now.
-
Yeah instances are tough are you horde or alliance? Last one I tried was Gnomeregan with a 55 level shaman a 34 level warrior, a 33 level warrior and a 36 level shamn. Nice reward if you can finish it. We got to the main hall and were mob\'d by 20 gnomes and thier gadgets. I was the only one to make it back to the elevator when we all decided to run for it. Got up the elevator and knew they were still aggro\'d on me, but figured they couldn\'t reach me - little did I know they came running around a corner 2 minutes later and finished me off lol.
I am saving for my mount right now - can\'t wait until I hit 40 and don\'t have run everywhere.
-
Ithmail, 36 Dwarf Paladin on Frostwolf server.
WoW > me + you. Great game, always something to do and you\'re rewarded for almost all of it.
/dance
-
I am Horde side.
Some 53 rogue ran me and a 39 shm through SM yesterday.. great instance 8)
-
I have a 42 rogue, and the feeling of blah is still there. Have numerous alts around the 14-20 levels. I lost all interest in the game after grinding forever for enough gold for mount. The game seems to be fairly unbalanced. Rogues can grind the quickest marginally for no real end game. Thought many times to dump my rogue fo a shaman I have. Then it dawned on me that shamans are in for a big stick of nerf very soon. After latest patch seen alot of 40ish hunters re-roll shamans or warlocks. Warlocks seem fairly balanced, but shamans got buffs last patch that was just not needed. So on my server now see tons of lower level shamans.
Would love to stay with my priest alt. Set in stone they are needed in high level instances. But healing classes always get dumped on. So very skeptical about leveling a toon for high level instances that from I understand do not benefit the priest a great deal. End up being everyones crack so they can play stupid.
I had a druid that I enjoyed. Then kept reading that cat form was useless after 40. So shelved it for a promised fix by blizzard. Fix came and went. It is still shelved.
Have not played a mage. The thoughts of two of my powers is to make food and water just seems downright boring. Sure sheep is cool, but still..........
Warrior seemed like an ok class until watched a 51 try to take a level 45 elite. My leather wearing ass lasted longer then him and did more damage that is not saying much. Perhaps it was his gear, but it looked ok to me. Maybe just a bad player???
Prob will still re-roll for somthing with AOE. Was doing Ulderman instance the sheer volume of baddies that would come out neglected the use of any melee toons. It was like pissing in the wind. AOE is where it is. That is what kept the party alive.
Last thing would like to say about WoW. Why did they even start selling the game again? The servers were in no way stable before they decided to start selling again. Now that it is Friday. I would bet 100 gold that servers will more likely be down again tonight. Very difficult to stay interested in a game that is down as much as it is.
-
Starting a character now. Finally got broadband.
Nightelf - Druid
Username: Cheroth
Realm: Hellscream
Lvl 4 right now.
-
I\'m still playing... sometimes I take a break for days, even weeks.
My pala dwarf is now level 28. Lately I\'ve had fun mining, skinning and grinding for stuff to sell. And I\'m using AH a lot to buy low and sell high... basically I\'ve become a merchant. :D
I also started a lvl 8 Night Elf priest.
-
I\'m level 16. I just can\'t play as much as you guys obviously can.
Still in the same realm as Luke.
I wish you could jump between realms. Sucks that in order to play with someone I have to start completely over.
-
Got an Undead Warlock - LVL 6. On Argent Dawn now tho\', due to Capcom being there and us teaming up.
-
Am I the only one with a 60? :p
-
well as long as it\'s taken me to get to 18, I\'d have to say that at 60 you really need to get outside.
-
Lvl 30 now...
-
54 here and not it doesn\'t take long at all. Especially with the 200 percent xp bonus for not being on.
-
I was 60 within the first month. Pretty boring from start to finish, then there is the terrible end game thing.
Daoc>WoW. As bad as it is lol.
-
Servers are down. Go figure.
I take a nap, wake up and can\'t play. May as well go back to sleep.
-
I dinged 59 tonight. 60 will be this week pretty easily I think.
-
How do you get up to 200%? Occasionally I see it and sometimes I just see 100%.
Do I just need to sit in a chair to get it or something?
-
I am at 52 priest, 36 warrior and 26 warlock with few 1 to 5 on some random servers.
I am taking my time to reach 60 since i like doing instance with my guildies and helping them out.. so usually i am stuck not gaining exp for a few hours :)
-

Every time you\'re logged out, while at an Inn or a major city, you\'ll \'feel rested\' aka you\'ll get 200% exp for a while. The length of you\'re feeling rested depends on how long you\'ve been logged out.

Exactly, when I was on vacation I had a level and a half of "blue" aka 200 percent XP. Just log out in the inn that your are hearthstoned to and you build up rest XP. Usually I have 3 bubs a day if I play daily - which at my level takes about an hour to fill if soloing.

the circle of your player icon will flash and instaed of displaying your level, you\'ll see "zzz"

If any of you are interested me and Vid have a guild on Ner\'Zhul.
If you feel like playing an ALT on a PvP server make one there and join up with us.
-
Won\'t be able to play for the next three days due to work, so I am glad WoW has some kind of XP incentive for the casual player who can\'t log in every single day. That was one reason I lost interest in CoH, it demanded me to play all day on my day\'s off and then get nothing while I worked. As it is, I can\'t afford to play every single day due to work and social life, so the XP rest incentive is a great thing.
-
Have to say, at lvl 12 I am already losing interest in the game. It seems to spread out and sometimes simply too disconnected. I will stick with it for a few more levels, but if it does not improve, I will cancel my account and go back to CoH which at least had the superhero angle, even if the community did suck.

WOW doesn\'t get \'good\' before lvl 20. So if I were you I\'d stick with it, or go back to sucking off homeless people.
-
Why should someone invest so much time to get to lvl 20 if the game sucks before then? Games should catch your attention right from the start.
And I didn\'t know you was homeless, Sammy.
;)
-
He\'s right though.
Levels 1-20 are kinda like a extended tutorial.
OK, so that\'s an exaggeration but you know what I mean.
-
Yeah, and now luke has me trolling in another realm. I finally get my guy to 23 and doing fun shit.
You cats should come to our realm. I\'m only at level 8 and Luke is like 14 or something.
-
^^^he used the word "cats"...sounds kinda weird comin from you Vid,...you got some black folk in your family tree don\'t you? ;)
-
Vid is black. You didn\'t know that?
On the reals if any of you wana get in on our new guild.... Roll a new guy on Boulderfist.
Were gonna raid Alliance like nobodys buisiness.

I\'m a Level 89 Warrior.

Update,
Sorry i haven\'t been round for a while but i have set up a new undead rogue on Shadowmoon and i have been busy trying to hit level 40 before the new honuor system kickes in.
I have been with the Penny-arcade official Horde guild for sometime now.
so if anyone wants an invite to the Obsidian Spur on Shadowmoon then give me a shout.
I hit level 38 last night.
Trying to save for a mount is killing me too :(.

Stay with WoW. The feelings you have now is because of the zone. It is walk 5 miles to get a quest then repeat. This stays moderatly true throughout the game. Yet later on it tends to be more go through dangerous turf to new town. Then the missions seem to go from the nearest part of the town to begin with further out. It lets you get familiar with the place much quicker and easier.
Please bear in mind that quite a few undead cant stand the newbie area. I would imagine just because of what you are feeling. I played as a tauren and it felt much more streamlined. Same with orcs and trolls. No clue on the alliance side. Never rolled human trash before. :p
You can very easily moves to crossroads at what 12???? I think that is about right, but I avoid crossroads as much as possible. So stick with it until you can move out of the newb zones. It is torture that have done numerous times.
So far as Coh goes. Have one toon 50 and another 44 or 45. I wish had stopped with one fifty toon and moved on. Possibly even before one toon got to 50. It is an ok game, and the costumes are great, but if you look at the forums it seems to be going downhill. Maybe all of this will change when COV comes out.

I got to level 12 in 2 and a half hours with my orc rogue. I still enjoy my main and he is almost ready to go on the uber instances - I should hit 58 tonight. Then it will be Arcanite Reaver with Crusader Enchant FTW ;)
-
I finally learned how to do professions. I really need to learn the manual. You guys should roll on our server. It sucks that we\'re all on different servers. Luke and I are still less than 20 so it wouldn\'t take long to catch up. I think I\'m at like 12, almost 13 and Luke is at 17.
-
The only problem with that is time. My main takes most of my time and the orc rogue is on a pvp with some of my main\'s guildmates. If I wasn\'t married, didn\'t have a child or a job I could do it all! ;)
But yeah it does suck we are all on different servers.
-

Did you mean Arcanite Reaper? The REALLY expensive crafted axe that takes 20 days (if you only have one philosopher\'s stone) to create the amount of arcanite necessary? If so, good luck with that. If you already have it, kudos to you. Personally though, I prefer this puppy right here (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=20827). It\'s not only super powerful, but with a warrior and rend on some of the level 55 or 56 enemies near hope\'s chapel in Eastern Plaguelands, you can train up polearms in no time at all.
Rend is particularly important as missing doesn\'t waste much of any rage at all and you\'ll miss about everytime until about level 160 in your training at about 1 point per miss. So just charge, rend rend rend rend rend, (overpower as well as the enemy will dodge your attacks plenty of times) bloodrage, rend rend rend rend rend, berzerker stance, berzerker rage, let the rage build back up and switch back to battle stance rend rend rend rend rend wash rinse, repeat. If you kill the enemies near hopes chapel, and possibly die in the process unless you switch back to your normal weapons at about 20% health, the graveyard is about 5-10 yards away, hehe. This of course works for any weapon, but is particularly potent on REALLY slow 2h weapons.
Oh and I\'m a level 60 warrior. Did four runs on Rend in UBRS and still no spauldors of valor drop and no other valor drop (that i\'ve won) either. REALLY dissapointing.
-
I am trying to stick it out as a rogue and it seems alittle better, but not a lot. Think my biggest problem is finding time to play it and now that I do have time, being sick with the flu.
Blah.
-
Yep the Reaper it is. I have the crystals and two guildies can transmute so I get one bar a day. I have 6 finished already. Yeah it takes a while but its worth it. I have only the valor bracers - no big deal. The stuff is surprisingly hard to find.
-
Anyone else have a priest?
They make me lol in their godlyness.
-
i am 55 troll priest as my main, holy specced.
Priest with the right tool is very fun to play, specially when you hit instance with group lower then the instance\'s design.
-
Ryu what talent tree did you take for your warrior?
-
You know, I read this thread on a regular basis, and most of the time I have no idea what you people are talking about.
-
Give in Core... go buy the game - we know you are interested.
-
Still playing it and still not very impressed. It\'s simply to damn slow.
I prefer the community as opposed to CoH - but I wish the action was faster like CoH.
Damnit.

Those who are still playing, give up and stop. There is no decent endgame to it.

I\'m thinking about it. Not because it\'s a bad game, but because it eats up a lot of time. And basically the idea of MMORPG\'s are flawed by design - the basic mechanics get repetitive and there\'s no final goal, other than bragging rights to your geeky friends.
-
I do tend to agree with that. The whole MMORPG becomes one level grind after another and while WoW struggles to find you things to do so you don\'t realize you are grinding, it still does eventually settle in, that no matter what, you are just grinding to the next level and for what? To be the uber-powerful guy and what happens then? There is no real endgame or challenges to it.
I have a love / hate relationship with MMORPGS. I love starting a character and leveling him but at the same time, I hate the time that is required to actually make it to a semi-impressive level. I lack the dedication and paitence, like some people (*cough Capcom cough*).
-
I could get you to the max level in Daoc in no time LIC!
Powerleveling ftw.
-
DAoC sux compared to WoW. WoW is not a grind and with the rest bonus grinding takes a minimal amount of time if you choose to do it.
As for you saying the end game sucks? Can\'t really argue that at this point, but they do have plans to add new content along with Battlegrounds. Basically, there is so much to do at endgame to keep one\'s interest whether it be doing instances for your class specific armor, working on trade skills, helping guildies or friends or playing pvp. There is quite enough to do at endgame to tide one over until more content is released. If you don\'t think so, roll another toon.
-
Ryu what talent tree did you take for your warrior?
I\'ve respecced a number of times (10G last time I did it so at least 3-4 times now). I tried the pure arms warrior at first up to about level 40 or so and found that to be very inadequate for the purposes of tanking, but as time progressed and I respecced, I went more defensive and even went pure defensive spec until level 60 where I took on a 31-3-17 build. Enough points in Arms to give me MS and enough points in defensive to give me all that I need to tank any instance effectively with a dash in fury for some extra critical percentage. It\'s not a perfect build as I stupidly invested 3 points into heroic strike and thunderclap a piece instead of taking 5 of them and putting them into deflection and an additional point into improved charge. Otherwise, it\'s a nearly perfect build for what I need. I have power, but I also can tank very well with a shield.
-
I am 31 18 Arms Fury at the moment and I think I am going to stay this way. Protection just has a lot of worthless skills and when tanking in UBRS I can easily equip a shield and be just as good of a tank. In MC, those extra points in protection will really mean nothing from what I hear as every mob hits for an ungodly amount of damage regardless. Not to mention everything is immune to stuns etc...
The reason I also remain arms fury is that PvP is much more fun where as the protection skills in PvP are pretty much useless as well. Piercing Howl in Fury is excellent for snaring an Alliance player that is trying to flee. Also you are correct in that you put some of your talents in the wrong place ie. heroic strike and thunderclap. 5/5 in Cruelty is a must - 5 percent better chance of getting a crit.
BTW have you enchanted any of your weapons with the crusader enchant? That thing procs like mad I it usually goes off 3 times per fight when I solo - heals me for about 300-400 worth of hp. Makes chaining mobs a breeze.
-
Damn I had a huge response written and internet died when I hit reply so I\'ll just say this.
"DAoC sux compared to WoW. WoW is not a grind and with the rest bonus grinding takes a minimal amount of time if you choose to do it."
Do you have a max level in each of these games? I\'m going to assume no anyway.
Even with rest, all WoW is one gigantic grind. The PvP is ridiculously inferior to what Daoc has in place. It\'s been out 4 years, it should be miles ahead and it is. I\'ve already posted a topic about how Blizzard bombed their endgame.
PvP>PVE, therefore Daoc>WoW. WoW appeals to the masses who have never played a MMORPG before.
It\'s ok to think WoW is better, you\'ve never experienced anything else but uh EQ and maybe PSO lol.
-
You are right I don\'t buy up every MMORPG that comes out, but yes I have played others and this is just right for the amount of time I have and the amount of fun it generates.
I guess if it appeals to the masses it must suck.

I HIGHLY disagree with you on the talents in protection. Improved taunt is incredibly important in maintaining aggro, particularly with high DPS hunters, mages, and warlocks who crit for 1000 every hit or more. Even if the enemies turn around for a second, particularly in MC, and hit that mage just once, he\'s gone. That can\'t happen. 2 seconds off the taunt timer helps out a ton. Other then that, there\'s shield specialization which helps out plenty when paired with deflection, toughness which boosts your AC count by 10% per item, and improved bloodrage which helps throw in an extra sunder armor or two in a clinch when you\'re lacking in the mocking blow, regular taunt, or AoE taunt category. That\'s already 14 points worth of talents that are incredibly useful for tanking.
Though I respect warriors who want to dish it with DPS, it\'s just not our job. We\'re meat shields. It\'s what we do. If you\'re going to play a ton of pvp, great, arms fury is the build to have. If you\'re tanking at all though, simply throwing a shield on you doesn\'t mean you can hold aggro and maintain holding it when high DPS classes start critting like mad. Believe me, I know.
As for crusader, not yet. The only weapon I\'d enchant for crusader, since I chose sword specialization in arms, is a nice one handed sword. I\'m still using my gimped thrash blade and although it has the potential to stack 4 times with sword specialization and it\'s normal proc, it\'s just not the blade I want. When I get a really nice high level 1-hander, I\'ll be happy to slap a crusader enchant on it, but until then, It\'ll just have to wait. Currently I have a couple of nice polearms, Monstrous Glaive (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=35842) - Blackhand Doomsaw (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=20827) and a nice mace Unyeliding Maul (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=36117). I have fiery on the Doomsaw and +7 damage on the other two (no one could give me +9 damage unfortunately).
For 1h swords, I\'d like whatever I can get ranging from the Cho\'Rush Blade (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=35873) to the Skullforce Reaver (http://i7.thottbot.com/Interface/Icons/INV_Sword_12.jpg). I\'m not too picky really. Just need a better blade -- a reasonable one of course, not hoping for some epic drop. :)

I am on a carebear server. Not really by choice, but because someone I played coh with went to the carebear. With that said. Had the oppurtunity to find a same level hunter flagged in the mountains today. I thereby corpse camped him with my rogue for a total of 4 kills. At which point a hunter 3 levels above showed up to gank me. I hid in some shrubs and slowly stealthed away.I may end up going to one of the newer pvp servers and start a new toon. That may be the excitement you are looking for also.
The only reason did not fight to go to a pvp server is the fear of a level 60 constantly ganking me. I prefer horde so it is a fact of life. Lic if you want to go pvp let me know.
So far as being this all powerful guy. I dunno if that ever really happens. Unless you have the skills and the best set of armor for your toon, and how many level 60\'s own an entire suit?
Lic so far as COH goes. You have never seen a true grind. 40-50 is pure hell imho unless you have someone pl you which they are putting a stop to it now from what I read.

Did I say I didn\'t play DAoC... blow me.
Anway Ryu, in the many discussions on the Warrior forum at the WoW site, a lot have come the conclusion that a Arms/Fury Warrior is just as effective at tanking as a protection warrior. Only difference is the Arms/Fury warrior might need another heal or two during the fight.
I had a full group to go fight Shy Rotam in Winterspring. She is a 60 elite and also spawns other 60 elites throughout the battle. I managed to hold Shy Rotam\'s aggro the entire time - no shield, just my 2h sword Doombringer.
I disagree with the requirement of going protection spec, why gimp myself for soloing and pvp when I can do almost the same thing a protection spec warrior does by just equiping my shield. Oh yeah I still have my thrash blade as well... occasionally use it with the hanzo sword when I do an alliance raid.

I need a pet and I don\'t know where the cat lady is.
How else can I get a pet? My warrior needs a friend.

Anyone still playing?
I renewed my account. Playing as a 17 ORC Warrior and a 10 Night Elf Druid.
-
Still playing 57 priest.
-
restarted 3 weeks ago on a PvP server. My old main is a 59 troll priest, now my new main is a 23 gnome rogue :)
i figured it would be nice to try out BG\'s and the PvP honor system.

Yup. Still play. I have a 60 warrior as my main and a few alts -- highest is a level 12 mage. Here\'s a cut and paste from the GAF boards.

/ wishes Bear form wasn\'t "broken". It really isn\'t that much fun to play as. I tend to stay in caster mode.
One complaint I have is, it seems the Horde got shafted on starting worlds. I always played as someone from the Horde and the starting worlds are simply bland and boring. Roll an Alliance character like a Night Elf and the enviroments are rich and interesting.
Still, I enjoy switching bewteen my characters. If I get "stuck" on one, I just move to the next. I don\'t level up fairly quick like that, but it keeps me from grinding.
-
@ Ryu: Dude...that guy looks like the Soul Reaver mofo. Cool. :D
-
Dont go the cities then. Ironforge makes anything horde has look like crap.

Have you guys played since the update? My framerate seems to be much much better. My graphics seem crisper too.
Coincidence or did they do something? I had my first flight last night in a ong time where I had very little frame loss and it looked fantastic.
-
anyone want my 60 priestSorry! The administrator has specified that users can only post one message every 60 seconds.

This last patch that introduced BG\'s saved the game. Most fun I have had since the pvp/honor system was introduced. Warriors are actually very good in pvp now - no matter who the opponent is. Warsong Gulch capture the flag is great!
Nice gear Ryu. I am at work so I can\'t post any pics. I have so much stuff its pathetic, though I am lacking on Valor pieces - but there are many other pieces better than Valor imo.
I basically carry 2 sets - one for tanking one for PVP. My crit rate in PVP mode is 28 percent in Battle Stance.
Quick list of what I have:
Head:
Enchanted Thorium Helm - did they forget to color this helm? It is pure white.
Grand Crusader\'s Helm
Shoulders:
Bulky Iron Spaulders
Slamshot Spaulders
Chest:
Breastplate of Valor
Legionnaire\'s Plate Armor
Legs:
Enchanted Thorium Leggings
Legionnaire\'s Plate Leggings
Wrist:
Bracers of Valor
Hands:
Force Imbued Gauntlets
Gordok\'s Handgaurds
Waste:
Brigam Girdle
Omokk\'s Girth Restrainer
Feet:
Master Cannoneer Boots
Bloodguard Plate Boots
Back:
Cloak of Warding
First Sergeants Cloak
Fingers:
Band of Flesh
Band of the Ogre King (2)
Trinkets:
Blackhand\'s Breadth
Barov Peasant Caller
Vigilance Charm
Neck:
Imperial Jewel
Medallion of Grand Marshall Morris
Shield:
Draconian Deflector
Weapons - I have too many:
Treant\'s Bane +9 Damage
Acranite Reaver Crusader Enchant
Annihilator Icy Chill Enchant
Bonecrusher
Unyeilding Maul
Barbarous Blade
Relentless Scythe
Bow:
Eaglehorn Longbow +7 damage Scope
As you can see I am more geared toward PvP -ie. crit gear. I have a ton of other stuff in the bank that I don\'t use - numerous helms and boots especially and some other 1h weapons.
Great pics Ryu!

Can you explain what BG is and when should I care about it? What level?

Battle Grounds! It was in the patch that came out yesterday. Two new zones to pvp in and they are instances. One is located in the North Barrens right near Ashenvale and the other is the Alterac Mountains just north of Tarren Mill.
The one in the Barrens - Warsong Gulch is a 10v10 capture the flag map and the other is more of a larger conquest type map. The best thing is it should eliminate zergs in regular towns and keep the pvp in those instances and secondly you are put into the instance with people around your own level - meaning if you are level 25 you will be in an instance with level 20-29 people so it can be done at almost every level.
Also in a couple of hours of pvp in Warsong Gulch I got more contribution points than I did a week in either Crossroads or Hillsbrad.

i don\'t come into these threads, just mainly lurk in them, but one question....do these types of games have an ending? or does it go on forever?
-
Well that\'s a question for the level 60\'s. I\'ve never sniffed 40 so I dunno. They add quests all the time, but don\'t know if they add stuff for that level.
Battle Grounds looks to be great for longevity.
Although Luke has me playing on a normal server now so I guess I\'ll never know. :hat:
-
do these types of games have an ending? or does it go on forever?
they end the day you retire. In MMO you pay monthly fees for ever-ending development.
Of corse that money serves also for other things (like bandwith and server infrastructure).
Everquest is at is 7th (?) expansion since 1999. I am pretty sure WoW will last this long with many many expansion to come..

Sweet. I have no clue how to get there though. I\'ll have to figure this whole thing out.
