hotmail just announced on Nov. 17 that they have upgraded our emails from 2 MB to 250 MB. I noticed it few days ago.
So, anybody here happy. Beause i am. I don\'t have to worry about deleting some emails when it runs out of space.
I remember Yahoo upgraded from 4 MB to 100 MB several months ago, now hotmail up to 250 MB.

I don\'t see the reasons for early adopters of GMail since 100 - 250 MBs have a big enough storage for us already.

Well I still only have 2mb, doesn\'t really matter though I only use it for msn messenger

No Paully...actually, they\'ve only upgraded people\'s accounts who have had their e-mails with MSN for a LOOOONG time. They announced that they upgraded YOURS...not EVERONE\'s...just to clarify :) I still like Yahoo! better...their layout is just so much easier to use...
I have 2 accounts they upgraded to 250MB :p

I still only have 2 mb. I guess having a Hotmail since 1996 doesn\'t qualify (in fact I remember back when it wasn\'t even MS who owned it).

Wow...that sucks Sammy. I hope they\'ll give you recognition soon ;) They told me they were going to upgrade my account to 250MB months ago and have only recently given me the upgrade. SO just wait a little while. I\'ve only had mine since \'99. Maybe you had yours for TOO long *doesn\'t make sense*

I use my Hotmail account multiple times a day and got 250mb about 2 months ago. Maybe it depends on how much you use it.

It\'s easy to have a gmail account. I have 2 with 5 and 6 invites. I gave one invite to myself ;)

are you sure if you have to that hotmail for a long time or short time to have the upgraded?
Because I have one that i upgraded to 250 MB and I subscribed that one back in 2001, and my other email account was subscribed recently in 2004, say around 6 months...
and both emailed account were upgraded to 250 MB.
My guess would be hotmail probably couldn\'t keep up upgrading to everyone else account, they are trying to do it. But it takes time to upgrade all the email accounts. That\'s why some people have it sooner, some have later, and some still haven\'t got their upgraded yet.

What is so special abot gmail (apart from the 1gig space)?
Anyone got one to chuck in my direction?

Nothing special, mostly hope and exclusivity. Just stick with Hotmail. :)

to open an email with Gmail, is as fast as opening one with Outlook with your regular PoP3 server. there aint no loading like any other web based mail server.
the promise behind gmail is simple. You dont erase your email. you just sort them with labels. Makes it easy to searh through your stuff. even better, all your emails are fuly indexed. if you need something, you use google style search, just type one key word like "games" and a web page googled style will display all your email that as the word "games" in it.
full text serach is the win~

Yeah, and you can read all your mail as one conversation, you don\'t have to open and read individual mails.

The reason is that you can have and use one email adress while changing ISP, country or whatever. Or you can set one up just for spam if you like. And some free email providers give you more space than your ISP.

I have 4 email addresses through my ISP and I d/l email off the server anyway. Although I do have videoholic@hotmail.com I wonder how long it\'s been since I\'ve checked it.

It\'s all about security and spam.
i only give out my ISP email to familly & friend.
When i registrer to websites, surveys, blablabla it all goes to my Gmail account.
Gmail as auto spam feature, that classy spam email into a quarantine zone. you can still view/open those email, and unspammed them. (and you can "add spam" email that you receive)
so you keep your ISP email clean. less chance of virus and such.
You read all your other "stuff" on gmail (or others..) at work, outside the house :D
