my grand theft auto vice city, and dark cloud are badly scratched and some mentioned in a thread there was some tooth paste method to fix it
-
Toothpaste? Try Game Dr.
-
I\'m gonna cry.
Seriously, if something is severely scratched, then you\'re beat. Just like with cds. If you put a canyon across the laser\'s path, there\'s just no way to fill it in, especially considering there used to be data in the chasm.

spray it with furniture polish, and then wipe it off. It has worked on many of my DVD\'s that wouldn\'t allow me to use DVD shrink on them. Hell, I had one so bad that I couldn\'t even get it to analyze, and after the polish it was like brand new.
-
Try putting the Cds in the freezer.
-
^^^^^
Yeah...a few days should do the trick.

Err, wrong dood, so so wrong. The data isn\'t burned into the plastic, it\'s burned into the dye behind the plastic. (under the label) The plastic is simply there to protect the dye. If you scratch a cd/dvd. There is a chance you can fix it. If you scratch the LABEL side of the cd, forget it.

You basically take some toothpaste(the plain white kind usually really cheap) and squeeze a little bit on the disk. You use something that won\'t ruin the disk more and rub the toothpaste evenly all over the surface of the disk. You then just let it sit for about 15-20 minutes so it can dry and then you wipe the excess toothpaste off.
Its worked for a bunch of old music CD\'s.

There is no dye in pressed discs, only in CD-Rs. That\'s why you burn CD-Rs. Discs you buy aren\'t burned at all but are pressed onto a thin aluminum layer.

either way it doesn\'t matter.. the info is under the label and between the plastic....

it also comes in handy for spot/zit removal
And if you smear it on your upper cheek (just under each eye), you can limit the effects from tear gas.

I still find the freezer method the best. You put the CDs in their cases, pour a little water to fill the circular void in the case, let it sit for a few days, and there you go. :)

Agreed ;)

I have a jeweler\'s buffing wheel at work, and it will repair almost anything on the underside... I had a CD that rolled around in the door compartment of my truck for a year, and was trashed. one minute later... wheee!

I take it that it was a porn VCD if it made you go "wheee"?

I\'m telling you, the freezer is the best method for anything.
-
your skinky freezer method will destroy the cd, but thanks any ways
-
^^^^^^
It doesn\'t destroy the disc, it enhances it to the next level.
-
It adds a protective layer of frost that solidifies on and adds a protective layer. It also fills in the scratches with water crystals, so you see, its not that skinky :)
-
yeah. Then put it in your PS2, the water crystals will melt, then your PS2 will suffer an ellectrocution. Then you should put your PS2 in the freezer to get it fixed :p
-
No, you see, the crystals fuse to the cd and it makes this huge chemical reaction, causing the crystals to turn into Cobalt, which is a hard carbon based compound that is much better than the plastic that is on the cd. This compound is ironically clear, and since it is carbon based, you can even shove it up theomens ass, which is as tight as a 9 year old boys, and it still won\'t break. Yup, the freezer is the method of choice :)

You should be hired as a great mind manipulator. You can convince others the impossible
