Title: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Post by: unknown on November 29, 2004, 12:26:52 AM
I do not know if this is a repost, but I found this a couple weeks ago and decided to post it, all I have to say is thank jebus, I have been praying for some sort of sequel and if it\'s in the form of a movie then so be it.

Will be released in the U.S. "maybe in theaters" some time begining of next year.

So the original was first budgeted at $80M, it went over budget at $140M and only made $31M total in the US.  Good idea?  Sure why not!

I prefer the rather cartoonish CG in FFVII videogame, and the storyline of it.

If advent children is a sequel, hopefully its a good sequel.  Because we don\'t want another FFVII: The Spirits Within which flunk badly.

Let them go bankrupt, I just want my sqeuel ;).

I thought the spirits within was a big disapointment, they should have just stuck more to the actual games stories.

If you guys didn\'t notice, there are trailers you can download and watch, but there not the best quality. There is also an official website but it\'s in Japanese & it has best quality flash trailers.

Sephiroth in full CG glory looks tasty :D.

This one definitely won\'t go bankrupt. Too many people are talking about it and want to get it. I didn\'t hear ANYONE mention The Spirits Within around it\'s release. Nobody I asked when it was out for a month had even seen it, or heard of it :( I think it was in part for the fact that it almost had NOTHING to do with the FF series of games. And the complete lack of interesting story left me angry the whole time.

But anyway...I\'ll definitely be getting this one upon release :p

So I just finished watching advent children.  It was pretty sweet.  Vincent is definitely a bigger badass than cloud.

(Not Final Fantasy Fan)

Was the movie based on one of the games? Which?

The first movie (The Spirits Within) was not based on any of the games and sucked ass. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children...well if you can\'t figure out what it\'s based on, you\'re an idiot.

a DVD rip hit the net last weekend, and english (and french, spanish, german, etc). subs hit the net on tuesday.   I must say it\'s a very cool movie.  The fights are amazing, and even though they throw the camera, characters, and effects around a huge area for each battle, you can still follow all the action.  In a few places they do a slow \'bullet time\' type effect, in others they just use clever zooms and such to keep it all in frame, or move the camera to an \'over the shoulder\' view...

I really liked Vincent\'s reapearance in the forest....  The way his cape took the bullets and he moved... kinda reminded me of spawn.  Also really enjoyed Tifa... for an obvious reason... reasons.

PS - I can\'t wait for this to hit North America on DVD, or perhaps high-def blue ray with the PS3??? :p  ;)

its not in DVD for America yet?  Hmmm...

that would be a cool idea to release it on blu Ray the same time for PS3/blu ray launch...

Nah, just a japanese release, and no subs other than japanese on the DVD... which is why the subs took a couple of days to hit the net :)

I think that *most* playstation fans are probably fans of Final Fantasy in one iteration or another, so if they bundled it in high-def with the console, it could be a good selling feature... I know I would consider it a sweet bonus (especially if it were say, a launch limited bonus).

I watched it with english subs 3 days ago. Very good movie, though it has a simplistic plot.

Entertaining, nonetheless.

Well I just watched it and as an avid FF7 fan. I was not let down. do whatever you need to do to watch this movie.

Absolutly amazing fight scenes and lots of little things for fans to smile at.

Sephy was amazing and proves again why he\'s my favourite villian of all time. Insane. Don\'t even know what else to say.

Necropost!

The gist:
Final Fantasy Advent Children is coming to North America sometime in 2006.  They\'re working on the special features and such now.

I am totally smelling a blu-ray high def version released with the PS3... it just.... makes sense.

It\'s actually hitting us in North America March 25 (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/02/16/advent-children-stateside-on-april-25th/) so there goes the idea of exclusive release on blu-ray with the PS3.  It will come ONLY in a 2 disk \'special edition\' (yeah, no regular edition).  It will feature deleted scenes, making of, and footage from the Venice film festival.

Despite earlier suggestion, Jessica Alba is not voicing a character in the US release. Instead, Rachel Leigh Cook will provide the voice of Tifa. Other notable voice actors include Steve Burton as Cloud (he also voices Cloud in both Kingdom Hearts games) and Mena Suvari as Aerith.

And you won\'t.  You will just have to hear her.  I can hear it.  Depends on how she plays it though, to match up to the \'Tifa\' persona in my head.

it was mediocre, bordering on interesting.

the story was okay at best.  weak actually.
the voice acting was passable.
the facial expressions were mostly good, some not so good.
the action was great at first, but quickly wore thin after seeing the same characters defy gravity and pull off impossible stunts over and over and over again.

I\'m glad I only rented it...wish I could get that four dollars back though.

From the reviews I\'ve read today, I\'m not the only one who didn\'t love the movie.  The story getting ripped on by everyone.

I love all kinds of things...I\'m just very critical. My friends do say I\'m picky though...maybe that\'s something to work on.  I\'m going to give it another shot when I get home today and watch the special features.

also understand that I think Final Fantasy VII is highly overrated in every way.

The voices are pretty spot on in the Japanese version. The voices go with their mouth movements. Maybe I\'ll watch the American version so I can throw my TV out the window from being annoyed by the overdubbing.

Could have been better though. I expected something deeper. The voice acting, animation, fights. and effects they were all great for me.

The story was the only thing that ruined my excitement. It wasn bad but it was weak for a movie that was based on FF7

I just seen Last Order.

The animation is well done.

Story is near the last moments of what happened at Nibelheim when Sephiroth went all berserk and started slaughtering the villagers.

A few spoilers:
a)Differences from the game\'s story is that Cloud reveals himself to Tifa after she is wounded. A possbile explanation is that because Tifa was severely wounded she didnt remember him when she recovered.
b)Another difference is that it has a few other small parts that werent told in the game since Cloud and Zack were unconscious to notice. Unfortunately I couldnt get anything from the dialoques since it was in Japanese with french subtitles
c)Lastly Sephiroth is wounded by Cloud, but Sephiroth stabs him twice. Cloud doesnt die and manages to hit him, leaving Sephiroth surprised. Then he jumps to the lifestream with Jenovc instead of Cloud throwing him in it. It expands a few minutes more from here and it ends

I wouldnt reckommend it a must have unless you are a FF7 fanatic. Its very short and ends very suddenly.
