Three things...
(1) A week ago it wasn\'t doing this.
(2) It is running on an ATI Radeon 9600xt, and 1024 memory on mediocre settings.
(3) I haven\'t done a reinstall but I don\'t feel like wasting an hour reinstalling it unless I have to.
Any help?

Scratch #3, I did reinstall. And it still crashes. I already did the file verifier too, no problems.
-
try reinstall your display drivers and latest version of dx9. Is it a LEGIT version?
-
yes it is.
Ran all my anti-virus/spyware/adware, defrag, crapcleaner, disk check.
I\'ll try reinstalling the display drivers.

Hey, it worked...
for about 10 minutes before Half-Life 2 crashed yet again.
sigh... I don\'t know what the problem is.
I\'m only on the sandtraps chapter too.

try running a program called memtest86 on your memory.. maybe its a hardware issue. Can\'t see any reason for it to be crashing.

Maybe a fan died and something is overheating?
-
which release are you using?

I wasn\'t even able to finish the game because of all the audio stuttering/memory load error/crash to desktop problems.
Maybe someday they will release a patch and I\'ll be able to play the game I paid for.
