Title: what to do with $2,400
Post by: unknown on December 07, 2004, 05:58:46 PM
I got into a car accident a while ago and my car got totaled, I have been waiting over 3 months for this claim to settle to I can get another car, about a month after the accident I couldn\'t wait any longer and bought myself a car with my own money. So now they finally settled and since I bought another car already I have 2,400 to play with...

The choices..What do you guys think?

What do you like?

Standard manly toy is to update the home theater.  The Panasonic AE-700 is an HD projector with the latest LCD tech for just under $2gs.

Also: brand spankin new computer, new car stereo, or ask Viddy what to invest in. :)

For 2400 bucks you can get a nice Samsung DLP widescreen HDTV set or a serious PC upgrade.

Or you can buy Christmas gifts for everyone... yah, as if you\'re altruistic...

Or you can always just go with the booze hookers and blow thing...

Buy some hookers and booze. That\'s the way to go. And since it is 2400 and not 1000, you can get a really good hooker for the money :)

Save (compund intrest) or gamble it to get more money so that you can have a go on this :D.

You can call yourself Maverickski  (http://www.buyagift.co.uk/products/1039.htm)

If you put all that on a nice 250 to 1 bet then you can call yourself a Spaceman afterwords because you have breached the minimum threshold for that title.

Failing that...why not buy all the mod\'s a  Gameboy DS each :D

I\'m getting an Alpine head unit. They are supposed to be the best.

Alpine head unit + iPod interface = never have to change a CD again.  You also can control the iPod from the receiver and everything is digital for better sound.

http://www.alpine-usa.com/products/leading_technology/leading_tech_kca-420i.htm
http://www.alpine-usa.com/driveyouripod/ipod_demo.htm

I\'d wait until February when the 2005 models come out.  They are supposed have firmware that will fully support the iPod.  Right now the support is sketchy.

Of course if you\'re not interested in an iPod at all :) yo can go ahead and get the CDA-9833 (http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/item_info?p_item_name=CDA-9833&p_category=10&p_subcategory=20&p_main=10) or 9835 (http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/item_info?p_item_name=CDA-9835&p_category=10&p_subcategory=20&p_main=10) now.

For up front look at Focal or CDT components and matching coaxials for the back.  Phoenix Gold always make quality amps.  Soundstream amps look sexy and have great sound but they\'re pricey.

why get a car stereo, why not do the cool thing and customise your car and make it really really fast. Then drive it on urban roads at lame ass speeds.. Its a really cool thing to do.

I do race at the local track, but they jacked up prices from 10 to 20 bucks to race, thats a steep increase so I won\'t be making many trips ot the track anymore.

And to say I dont streetrace is a flat out lie, but it\'s only against Z06 Vettes or LS1 Camaro\'s/TA\'s. they\'re the only challenge. So in other words its very rare for me to race onthe street. dickhead I am :)

well, I can usually take most every car on the road, but I refuse to street race, I just think it\'s stupid to risk other peoples lives for my own enjoyment.  Even if I\'m a good driver, who\'s to say the guy I\'m racing won\'t do something stupid.

I drive a 1991 camaro as my daily and a 1985 Trans Am for the hot rod, the whole drive train has been replaced from motor to rearend. it runs high 11\'s on the motor and low 10\'s on the bottle :D. Whats great about it is it\'s primered black because I havent had the chance to put paint on it so everyone thinks its a pile HAHA

Here is a pic of the motor. Might not look like much but looks can be decieving..I\'ll just say it\'s a 4bolt 350 with a few peppy mods and a 150hp shot.

Anyways UPDATE, So I got the money yesterday and went to my local electronics store. I bought a DEH-7600 Pioneer because my fav. company is pioneer. I also got some Pioneer TS-A6960R 3 way speakers, I am still contemplating on what amp and sub to get. anyone have any recommendations?

Pioneer Premier would be a wonderful set up, I have it in my car.

I have the older version of this head unit http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13802

Also, the speakers up front in my car are Pioneer Premier, I couldn\'t find a picture of them. I think they\'re just 3-ways.. they came with two tweeters though that are also up front.

In the back I just have regular Pioneer 4-ways which rock either way. I\'ve never had any kind of problem with sound quality. I\'ve always said that the stereo in my car is 100x better than any  stereo in my house.. go Pioneer, you won\'t regret it..

I am a pioneer whore when it some to audio, I will get nothing less.

I am really loving the MP3 capability of the deck, kicks ass :D.

I found a pioneer 750 watt amp for a good price, but I dont know if thats aoogd because I\'ve never had a sub and amp setup in my car. A capacitor is a must because theres now way my ligths are gonna be dimming.

Can anyone recommend a good mid cost amp/capacitor/sub woofer?
