Title: Where\'s That Frigging Picture?
Post by: Evi on December 15, 2004, 01:36:17 AM
The one showing the chart that Sony displayed saying that it\'d take 1000 times the power of PS2 to create real-time CGI graphics? It\'d be much appreciated if someone had the article and the picture...but just the pic would be fine. Wasn\'t it posted somewhere in this Forum? I can\'t find the thing!!

I need it for a certain reason. Thanks...

Actually, the CG part isn\'t hype, it\'s an algorithmic conjecture made by Okamoto. As for the PS3, it obviously won\'t have that much power. And this was a statement that\'s VERY outdated...although his theory remains the same. And when he said 1000x in the article, he\'s referring to the Floating Point Operations. So...Sony has already surpassed 1000x in this regard, with their 16 Teraflop workstations. 16TFLOPS > 6.2 TFLOPS. We will undoubtedly NOT be seeing those numbers in the PS3.

I just think his theory is interesting to think about. Doesn\'t mean it\'s actually going to happen with the PS3.
