Isn’t this shield useless against terrorists anyway? I thought the terrorists most likely would bring in the bombs by land (like a briefcase bomb) before blowing it up?
"If it were not for the mammoth waste of taxpayers\' money, the latest failure in the Bush administration\'s obstinate deployment of a totally unproven missile defence system could be titled Star Wars: The Farce."
The test missile should have intercepted the dummy warhead 160 kilometers (100 miles) above the Earth and the failed flight cost 85 million dollars. The New York Times said it was the latest proof that the shield "remains firmly in the dream stage."
The first test of its kind in two years had already been put off four times due to bad weather at launch sites and, on Sunday, due to the failure of a radio transmitter.
Hmm, so it doesn’t haven work in all weathers? ;)

Eh, I know it seems like they are spending all this money on useless shit, who cares about this, really spend some more money somewhere else, like actually paying the armed forces more. I dunno though, we still have better shit then everyone else military wise, except why the hell can\'t we get shit to work like this.
-
Yeah, this was news when it came out, oh, 20 years ago. Bush reviving this plan is just dumb, and a waste.
Thanks Bush, now, how about another Tax Break? I mean, if you\'re just goona spend our taxes on shit you KNOW won\'t work, why not just give it back? Lord.
See Yuz.

Your tax dollars?

That was funny, lol. I pay my taxes then I get them all back at the end of the year, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i can\'t see how hard this is to implement...we used patriot missles in the gulf war to intercept those scud missles from iraq...this is basically the same thing except that it\'s on a higher ranged(distance) level...

Cruise missiles are like the V1 of WW2(?) Even the British antiaircraft defence could shoot those down given enough fire power and luck. Even my small country has a defence against that sort of weapon.
But this shield is against ballistic missiles (like V2, which the brits could not shoot down, and no other country has the ability to protect itself from right now), coming from high orbit at super high speeds, a whole different ball game.
Correct me if I am wrong.

I think this is why they call it a "test". It to work out the kinks. I mean - the anti-warhead missile didn\'t even take off.
The US Missile Defence Agency said Wednesday that the test flight over the Pacific Ocean had failed as the interceptor missile did not take off and was automatically shut down.
You know how many rockets failed before the Apollo mission finally launched? sheesh....you doomsdayers are so....gloomy. :p

Hey uh clips man, one problem with the Patriot missiles, most of the time they didn\'t work. In fact they plain out pretty much sucked, more of a propaganda thing. They were very hit and miss.

I propose we build a giant trampoline over every major city.....except Boston. They need to rebuild...all that traffic jam is just pathetic.

and the BoCox play there too

Yep, something like that.
Hell, I don\'t care...I live with Pa, have a yearly income of about 32 grand, so we don\'t get much back anyways. I want a tax break!
See Yuz.

Even if they were to get something like this to work the Russians apparantly have controllable ballistics that are specifically designed to beat defense systems like the missile shield.
M.A.D. is still M.A.D.

*Double Post*

Thank **** for that !
I say that bacuse Mr Blair gave the green light to base the enemy missile tracking stations here in the UK.
And if someone was wanting to blow away the US....then all they need to do would be to wipe us out first making your shield useless and then target you.
Call me picky
But having the Neocons in here *coff*giga*coff* saying ...don\'t worry we will avenge your death ooseven. Don’t quite cut it ;)

ooseven = canon fodder :D
