Title: I\'m excited!!! I GOT MY BRACES OFF!
Post by: DeAnna on December 20, 2004, 10:37:11 PM
I\'m so excited...I found out at my last orthodontist visit that I get my braces off Jan. 5.  The day after we go back from Christmas holidays.  YAY!  I can\'t wait.  These metal things do nothing for my appearance...

I had braces for 6 years, I think. They sucked, and they are going to feel VERY WEIRD when you get them off, like there\'s slime covering your teeth. And it\'ll be weird adjusting to not eating like an idiot for a few weeks [feels like you\'re missing your teeth, and chewing food is a bey@tch].

Make sure they get ALL THE GLUE scraped off your teeth. I went to a dentist a few months ago, and they said I still had glue on my teeth from like...5 years ago. I thought it was plaque. They scraped it off to reveal the rest of my pearly whites ;)

I needed braces but never got them, my teeth are fine. I sometimes wonder what it would have been like...

Well now I have this tooth from nowhere growing in on the bottom that\'s pushing my teeth out of the way, defeating the whole purpose of me getting freakin braces.

The fun part is, I have to get it removed, and there\'s these nerves that connect from the tooth to the bottom part of the right side of my tongue. And when I get the surgery, there\'s a small chance I could lose the feeling on that side of my tongue,  meaning, half my taste would be gone :rpissed:

I was gifted with absolutely perfect upper teeth, so as a child, the dentist said I didn\'t need them. My bottom teeth are a bit wonkey, but he said they didn\'t really need the aid of braces.

It just goes to prove that god has a sense of humour by putting good teeth in a fugly face.

my teeth started out kinda wonkey, but the detist said they\'d end up getting completely straight by themselves. Sure enough they did. :)

Never had braces, I never knew anyone at school with them either. It seems to be more common now than it was a few years ago.

At first I thought you were gonna announce our highly illegal relationship.......

But good for you on the braces. Never had them but I heard they are terrible for felatio?

Evi i feel your pain. 6 years here as well. I just got mine of a little while ago and i have a retainer - I got so used to the braces that i almost would rather have those back than a damn retainer (or at least thats how i felt at first). You just cant talk with a retainer.

Meh. estimated time till i get rid of this thing: 1.5 years :(

Great...I won\'t be able to talk.  Not so excited anymore.  I guess I will get used to it...

But I had a thing that I had to wear in my mouth for a year called an Oclusal appliance, for my overbite that didn\'t work.  Last resort = braces... end of story.

I had braces on for 2 years. I was glad to get them off. I don\'t think they got every bit of glue off but I can\'t tell so it doesn\'t matter to me.

I was in class in high school, and I guess I smiled or something...and this chic was like "OMG...You\'re Cute!"...in the middle of class, saying it in a way as though she must have thought I looked like an idiot before :( She was a hottie though.

Life moved on uphill after the friggin things came off. Braces suck!! *memories*

When I get ceilants put on, they always ask me for novicane. I laugh and say no. They then try to convince me to take it. I tell them the gas will do just fine. I showed them  Did the whole procedure without any pain....well there was pain but wasn\'t bad. Kind of uncomfortable when they put that big plastic thing in my mouth. I had to get drilled a couple times (I think. They use really cold water now for some reason). They did the same thing. I took it. Didn\'t even hurt.

There\'s a problem with posting attachments. Just ignore the error page and wait 5 minutes, then it should show up (so don\'t try to attach the same picture again and again thinking it isn\'t working, because then you\'ll soon have 5 identical posts in a row :)).

I still wear my retainer. I got my braces off May 2003. Its a night time retainer though so that\'s good and I won\'t have to wear it anymore in a few months.

I have a clear one now, but in Feb. I\'m getting a metal one.

Oh yeah, and I\'m gonna have to wear it for "forever"...my hygenist said...yeah right.  She said that teeth tend to move during birthing years.    whatever...

I don\'t plan on not wearin\' mine...I have been through too much crap with these teeth, btw...braces were our last resort. (Obviously, if I made it to the last resort, I have been through some crap)...and it was expensive crap too.
Title: I\'m excited!!!
Post by: Evi on January 11, 2005, 08:04:47 PM
Right...your year and a half of braces [or whatever the number was]. I had em for 6 years [as well as many other horrid crap as well]. I feel no pity for you. If you don\'t like wearing it during the day, then it would be a good idea to wear it at night while you sleep. That should be sufficient enough ;)

Yea, I was kicked in the face when playing football my senior year.  The plastic cleat went thru my cheek and hit my gums.  My gums swelled up so that I couldn\'t wear my retainer at night and by the time the swelling was down my retainer didn\'t fit right anymore cause of how my teeth moved.  It blows but wear it.
