That is more than all other countries combined. World bank is giving 250 million, but al others combined are only 250 million
France is givine 113,000 bucks? Nice.

Although Debt relief is where France could take it up the chocolate starfish.

"Taking a longer view, there was a growing call among European nations, led by Germany and France, for the Paris Club group of 19 creditor nations to consider granting a debt moratorium for countries hit by the tsunami, to bolster economic recovery and rebuilding.
On Thursday, Canada announced it had taken such a move unilaterally and that it would urge other creditor nations about offering relief to the stricken nations.
Indonesia, which suffered the worst devastation, would likely be the greatest beneficiary of debt relief. It owes the Paris Club around $40 billion and is the largest debtor in the disaster zone, according to the World Bank.
A moratorium would mean little to countries such as Somalia and Myanmar, which stopped paying their debts to the Paris Club years ago. "

i thought it stated france gave around 20 mil? in any case bush thought these countries didn\'t contribute troops to iraq then stated "yee haw" these varmits actually did send troops to iraq! let me send some mo money down there i reckon!.....j/k
-
Great!
35 million was quite small for such a wealthy nation, but you cant blame them, that figure surfaced pretty early during the disaster, when no one knew of the huge scale.
-
And yeah, France has probably given more now, but when everyone was bitching about our measily 35 million (After the 15) France had barely pledged 100 grand.
That\'s what the hookers cost a week for the aid workers.

1. United States: $350 million
2. World Bank $250 million
3. Great Britain: $96 million
4. Sweden: $80 million
5. Spain: $68 million
6. China: $60.4 million
7. France: $56.2 million
8. Denmark: $54.9 million
9. Australia: $46.5 million
10. European Union: $40.8 million
Thats how it looks at the moment.

Good. SO then it doesn\'t look like we are way out as front as I had thought.
Still way more than anyone else, but we rule. What sucks is these people will still hate americans even ten years from now.
-
yea, well look at that we have more than anyone on the board, sheesh, and we\'re sending troops over there to help also.
-
I think I\'d rather go to Iraq.
Could you imagine the stench in Indonesia? Have you guys seen any of the pictures of all the bodies? IT\'s real bad.
-
Not to mention the diseases that are bound to emerge.

"mines bigger then yours"

What are you smoking Soulgrind?
My point was that we AREN\'T giving WAY more than everyone else to excess like I had thought. We are always going to give more because we are a caring country that has a fat wallet.
Oh, and "mine is bigger than yours"
-
no you give more because you can recieve something in return.. Give it time, you\'ll be wanting something in return... its just about time...
-
right. we usually receive a lot more than we give. right.......
Well Japan has jacked up to 500 million.
Good for them.
I wonder how much money is really donated when you count personal donations.
Looking at some of those satellite pictures I just don\'t see what you can do but light the whole country on fire and start over. unbelievable.
-
I over heard as to how they were ungreatful for our 350 mil. I would take it all back if I was Bush if they are ungreatful for it.
-
Yea, Soulgrind ease up. His whole attitude on this was based off of countries bitching about our donations.
-
Why don\'t we just put all of these people on planes and take them to other parts of the world? At least then they won\'t be shitting in the streets.

My company is donating $1 Million dollars to relief efforts. In addition, they are sponsoring an employee fundraising drive, and the US portion of our firm will match all individual contributions made by our employees.
We have offices in all the affected countries, and we\'ve already verified that none of our people were killed.

Good news, just 3 people from my county (county, not country :p) are missing (2 from my city), I hope I dont know them.

Germany gives 660 MILLION dollars. :D
-
Michael Schumacher, the F1 driver gives $10 million. :)
Kofi Annan on the huge response from the world.
The governmental response has been matched by unprecedented generosity from the general public. Consider the six-year-old boy in Shenyang, China, who donated his life savings of $22. Or the citizens of Sweden, a country of nine million inhabitants, who have raised more than $70 million for the relief effort in Asia, while struggling to cope with the fact that almost 2,000 of their compatriots are still missing in the tragedy.

U.S. Pledges $350 Million and Magical Unicorns for Tsunami Relief (http://www.bbspot.com/News/2005/01/tsunami_relief.html)

pffft. Howard promises $1 billion in aid (http://www.smh.com.au/news/Asia-Tsunami/Australia-takes-charge-in-Indonesia/2005/01/05/1104832180468.html)
We better get back our 500 million "shakes fist"
-
So that\'s $500M in cash and $500M in "concessional loans." What does that mean?
-
Pretty sure it means Australia has control on where the cash is spent and that we want it back...
