Title: Production Logo
Post by: videoholic on January 07, 2005, 01:41:13 PM
As you all may know I quit and am starting my own company.  Well, a company of me.  I thought of a name last night of PRE2POST PRODUCTIONS.

I kind of like it so far because it encapsulates what I do.  I take a project from the very early stages and I take it through to delivery.  Hence my ability to Produce, Direct, Camera, Audio and Edit.

But I\'m not a graphics guy.  By all means.

So I need some critique.  What catches your eye?  What do you like about some and not about others?

I just need a very simple logo.  For the web I can add color and go nuts, but this would be for letterheads and INVOICES!!!

If anyone wants to take a shot at doing one that would be killer as well.

I did these in about a half an hour just to see what I would like and what others would like.  They are all low rez, but I do have one vector based as well that I haven\'t posted.  Not sure I really like it.

I\'m not wanting to do car shows.  This has nothing to do with my old job.  This is just for me.

Those like liek the list we made a year or so ago.  heh.

The only one I really don\'t like is #1.  I just didn\'t spend enough time on it I guess.

What about the top part of 4 with the bottom of 5?  I don\'t like productions in that odd font.  BUt I do like how in the top part I made the color step from 75-50-25-black.  Kind of subliminal.

Seriously though, I might take a crack at it tomorrow.

Of your own I like 3 and 5.

Yeah, that would be perfect here in Tampa.  Porn industry is huge here.

I like five, hands down.

One is right out. On faxes it might bleed together and be kind of unintelligible.

And the top part of 5 blows away the top part of 4, imo.

Go with 3, but make the "Pre Post" a bit lighter or white.  I think it needs just a tiny bit more contrast between the top and bottom.

3 looks the most professional to me.

4 and 5 are good, and I think 2 has some potential

i think you should have like a fuzzy out of focus "Pre" then a large 2 Then then a sharp in focus "Post"
just a thought

Here\'s something I\'ve been working on... Tell me if it works or not, or if there are certain changes I can make to make it better. I think its pretty sharp.

2, looks more stylized

1. Cut. Out of the running.

2. Has a lot of potential. Would look a lot better if the \'2\' was smaller and the \'PRODUCTIONS\' was bigger.

3. The "safest" logo. My only critique would be to see how it looks with a dark \'PRE\'/\'POST\' and a light \'2\'

4. I don\'t like the fonts in this one.

5. The smaller this one gets the harder it is to read which isn\'t good for business cards and letterheads.

I might post up a new mockup later on today.

Ugh, I wish I had time today.  I will try.  I have to go dig ditches with my dad.  Ugh.

Here is one I did in vectors combining elements of 3 and 4.

Another square one.

I think it\'s again hard to read.

I\'m leaning towards the long ones.

#6 looks good.

funny because of course 5 was the first one I made.

I do agree though that it looks ok that size, but the font becomes hard to read when you make it tiny.  Not enough gaps in the letters.

Maybe its just me, but 2 caught my eyes the first time.  When you posted the first 5, I tried to eliminated them and i eliminate 5 first, then 1, then 4.

Then I look at 2 and 3.  And I thought 2 looks a bit more catchier than 3...

thanks, I liked 2 as well.  just thought a banner style may be better.  But not really.  I mean if I was to market myself and print mugs to give to people, I\'d rather have a square.  Then you can see the whole logo at one time without turning the mug.

If I was to make a hat a square logo would be better.

A t-shirt, a square logo is better.

I dunno.

I suck at this.  I just need to go and get a full time job and say screw working for myself.  heh.

yup.

But I like 3 the best. stands out on white from a distance the best.

you could come here and work for my company. We just bought two more apartment complexes in Niagara Falls. We need toilet cleaners and snow shovellers. I could get you a break on rent.

My mom likes 7.

To me it\'s just trying to hard to be stylish.  I figured I\'d give it a try.

I think I like 6 the best.  It\'s just like 3, just the element of the gradation.

Looks like I am going to work with 6 and 3.  Just an easier read than the others.  Honestly the company name is just a legal front.  I\'m really just my self.

this sucks ass dont do anything like this. Plus do you have any idea how much $$ it takes to put this kind of thing on business cards and such.

I think you better hurry up and get a real job if you take this long to figure out your logo to get the rest of the company set up will be an act of GOD.. You\'ll be on welfare soon and then the feds will come in a do an eileen gonazales on your ass and you\'ll be humping the wife in a shelter.

oh ans btw I hope this works out for it it\'s great to work for yourself.

Won\'t cost much at all.  Matter of fact full color is the same price as single color.

I\'ve just been playing with the logo design.  I just got my bank account a couple of days ago and can\'t do anything till next week anyway.  SO I\'m just having fun playing around.

Plus, it\'s hard to design a logo when you are freaking working every day.   I made in 4 weeks 1/4 of last years income.  So maybe I\'ll wait until May to jump into the welfare line.
