Title: aliens Quadrilogy
Post by: guar on January 09, 2005, 02:04:19 PM: Just picked up the quadrilogy. Man it\'s going to take forever to watch these. Hope the director\'s versions were worth it. Anyone else out there own this set? If so, what do you think of it? I guess what prompted me was the new wscreen HDTV.

Yea. i\'ve got the box set too, pretty cool. I haven\'t noticed many differences, besides effects. but in the 3rd she doesn\'t have the alien burst out of her chest...

Post by: Coredweller on January 09, 2005, 10:13:34 PM: The additional 17 minutes in the so-called "special edition" of Aliens, which has actually been available for quite a while, is worthwhile. It doesn\'t include anything essential to the story, but it\'s worthwhile. I don\'t dislike it.

The so-called "special edition" of Alien3 is essential in my opinion. It is MUCH better than the theatrical version. The alien birth sequence is immensely superior, and there are many other bits and pieces that make the story more logical. I\'ve always liked Alien3, and I\'m really glad this version is available now.

Regarding Alien, the "special edition" or "director\'s cut" or whatever it\'s called, is a BIG MISTAKE. The restored scenes are not necessary, and in the case of the cocoon scene near the end, they completely destroy the pacing. As far as I\'m concerned, the theatrical version of Alien is the best version.

I have no comment or interest in Alien Resurrection. Jean-Pierre Jeunet can go to hell, stupid hack.

I want this box set soooo bad. Definatly buying it sometime soon.

And as for MM... He has never had it and never will but he has always been the local ass around here so y\'all should be used to him. We love him for who he is right???

Well, with Ashford deleting his post after I quoted him things would seem a little out of place. But it’s a quality I forgot to keep in mind when posting here.

I would have bought it eventually anyways.
