9.6 :eek:.... I was expecting good but not that GOOD.
Since its debut on the PlayStation in 1996, the genre-defining Resident Evil series has had its ups and downs, though it\'s always remained at the forefront of survival horror games. Yet it\'s not enough to call Resident Evil 4 one of the high points of the series, because this is probably the single greatest horror-themed action game ever created.
Resident Evil 4 is an amazing achievement in a variety of ways, especially in how its inspired, state-of-the-art cinematic presentation works so well with its relentlessly exciting, white-knuckle action, all of which is wrapped up in a decidedly lengthy adventure chock-full of hidden secrets and bonus extras.
It obviously isn\'t for the squeamish or for those otherwise not qualified to play this gory, mature-rated GameCube game, which is too bad for them, because it\'s hard to imagine anyone else not being consistently thrilled and impressed by what Resident Evil 4 has to offer.

sweet now I gotta get my GC back off my mother
(she plays a lot of games but doesn\'t own a console so I let her borrow it)
thats if she hasn\'t already bought RE4 tho, resident evil are her fav games.

Thats why I bought a Second Gamecube so that i can play my games on...the WIFE is HOOKED on Animal Crossing.

hmmm.....i was gonna get this since my son has a gamecube,...but since this is comin to ps2, i can wait...it might take a small graphical hit,..but not much..*thinks of silent hill 3 & 4*....i was gonna just buy it and play it at night while my son was asleep,..but that would\'ve been too much trouble. i can wait...sounds good tho...hopefully this will bring the res evil series back to AAA status...

It\'s getting awesome reviews. Can\'t wait to pick it up this friday.

I picked it up today. It\'s just as good as the reviews say, sorta gets me loving console games again. Just pure fun and no unecessarily hard puzzles.. Played it for about 5 hours until my Gamecube locked up... first time that ever happened.

For the record, I\'ve played both Gaylo\'s, and Ninja Gayden. I hated them all.
As for RE... I liked the first one, I liked every one after less and less, and this game is more action than any of the others from what everyones saying. I hate the action in the series. I liked the puzzles and atmosphere. Its cool, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, etc have taken what I liked about the original RE and done it better. Enjoy the updated Winback... err... I mean overhauled RE game, with the Fisher Price controller to boot. *pretends to gag*

I agree with you on Halo. Bought an Xbox 2 weeks ago and found this game to be totally overhyped... I\'d rather play a game of 2D Worms.:o

Played it for 2 seconds in the store on one of those sample things, then had to go so didnt have the cahcne to really test it out :( But it did look really good :)

In a world where Survivor and American Idol are wildly popular, it\'s no surprise the latest RE gets a near-perfect score.
It can get whatever reviews it wants. Resident Evil is still Silent Hill\'s bitch.

Can\'t help it. The last four or five RE games have been progressively more sophomoric. I\'ll play 4, but I can\'t really see this one beating out SH in my heart.

I loved the first silent hill but I got sick and tired of those dumb stick figure enemies, and even the task of hitting them was a chore. I have only SH1 & 2, hopefully the later versions are better.

Silent Hill 1 and 3 to me was great as the stories was linked.
2 was good as it was the first SH series on the PS2 and the graphics at the time was the best thing I ever saw in a horror series.
However 4 really sucks, played it about halfway and have got bored of it. Konami needs to inject something new into the franchise.

I personally find SH4 as the best and most creative in the series since SH1.
Its true that it gest a bit boring at some parts but after you reach a point it gets very interesting and very very challenging compared to SH2 and SH3 which were easy to beat.
I stopped halfway as well because it gets annoying.And I mean the good silent hill way.
My appartment is transforming into hell and its dangerous just by being there.
Oh and just love the small touches here and there ;)
A tip for those who are still at the beginning:Save as much health drinks as you can.Try not to use them at all.Try to heal in the room because later not only you wouldnt be able to heal there BUT.......oh well dont want to spoil it for you :p

I am at the train station for the second time where the Nasty looking woman appears. Does Silent Hill 4 ever get the ugly look? Like in the other Silent Hills?

Not sure.I am a bit farther than you are.But not very far.Your appartment gets that ugly look thats for sure.I ll have to ask a friend of mine who is farther into the game.
After that you ll be at some other familiar locations.But this time expect weird meetings with some familiar characters and more danger.
I stopped playing it because it gets tiring.Not because I find it bad.But because its starting to get harder.Its not like the other SHs were you could just kill the monsters or avoid them and search the area with no problem at all.The whole place is filled with ghosts, a certain someone and you arent even safe in the appartment

Sounds Nasty, Well, may be I should just complete this game and see what happens. The SH series tends to be slow paced and have a reall cracking end to the game.

i agree with uni and weltall...i always felt the silent hill series was better than res evil...you always had fresh new characters and a new storyline..with res evil you ALWAYS knew umbrella was behind it and that when you were near the end of the game, it was always some type of countdown till a bomb went off :rolleyes:...
silent hill 4 i felt was pretty good they went off on a limb to make it different and i thought they did an excellent job..i didn\'t think bein in 1st person view could be scary, but it is...i love all of the silent hill games..but you must always play them late at night..it\'s the only way to play them....
as far as res evil goes, i\'ll wait for the ps2 version to pass judgement...

with games like silent hill 3 & 4 i can\'t see how this can be a problem...maybe res evil 4 has slightly more detail but nothing to the amount that article makes it out to be....but then again i\'m not workin on the game. it just seems that the game shouldn\'t take too much of a hit graphically or performance wise....

As they said, some of the textures might actually run better on the PS2, but other than that they are having a hard time.... I think the PS2 version will have lots of slowdown, which can be iritating.
The SH series is great (Gameplay and Graphically), thanks to Konami, but what I need to ask is if you guys have seen RE4 footage yet?...including actual playable demo footage (not edited)? When seeing it, it makes it hard to believe that the PS2 is going to pull it off... nothing against the PS2 at all (I have all 3 consoles and have had the PS2 since launch) but the PS2 is starting to show its age now.

Even though the source is pretty much the definition of sketchy I\'m pretty ceratain it will be inferior. Just like Viewtiful Joe was better on GC than on PS2, even though they had tons of time to port it over.

s**t my son has a gamecube and i was considering gettin it for myself..bwahaha!..bad i know..but it would\'ve been too much of a hassle tryin to play it at night....even tho that article concerns me a little i\'m still gonna wait for the ps2 version........

I like my consoles all equal, there are too many good games out there (Can you imagine no GT, MGS, etc in your life?), but I will support the best version of a game if it is multi platform. I bought Prince of Percia: SOT for GC as the PS2 had frame rate problems... this is what I think will happen to RE4 as well. POP looked great on PS2 as well but had serious slow down.

Problem is that I do websites for a living and the only time I\'m on a PC is when I work or surf the net. When I get home the last thing I feel like doing is playing games on a PC... nothing against it, just personal choice.
