Title: Marylin Manson.
Post by: unknown on January 19, 2005, 08:25:17 PM
Who likes him and who doesn\'t.

I Don\'t care about all the stereo types, the gossip, the rumors, or his media rep, He is a rock pioneer.

He\'s a shock rocker.  Just wants attention.  I can never listen to an entire song of his so I\'ll reserve musical judgement to you. :)

Manson is pop if he likes it or not.

If you want real industrial music try wumpscut, L\'Ame immortelle, Assemblage 23, Icon Of Coil, Razed In Black etc etc etc etc

Manson is a try hard who\'s gained popularity through his hype machine. He think\'s he\'s so fuc**** gothic but he wouldn\'t know gothic if it hit him in the face.

I wouldnt say he thinks he\'s gothic. IDK. Hes an intelligent cookie. I used to listen to him a little but after rock and roll nigger, it was over. Heh. But seriously, hes not the wost thing in the world. I just dont listen to him anymore.

That seems to be a trend going on. A Perfect Circle doing their cover cd, Korn doing a cover cd. Except korn is doing god of emptiness by Morbid Angel. Praying they dont murder it.

Isn\'t Manson a preacher for the devil\'s church? I also heard he had two ribs removed so he could give himself head. Any truth to those rumors?

I don\'t know about the rib thing, but he did in fact join the "Church of Satan." He has a book out about it, with some freaky ass pictures inside. Creeped me out a bit.

As for Marilyn Manson, I like their music, but I hate Brian Warner...he\'s...not right in the head.

I like about 6 of his songs, all singles. I tried listening to some of his other songs, but.. naw... I didn\'t care that much. I can only listen to so much white people music before my head hurts anyway...

Music is music. I hate isolating races to certain types of music [even though white people suck at rapping, except Eminem]. It\'s like..."Damn kids! Turn down that obnoxious black people music!" I freaking hate that. And I hate old people ;)

I think theres a love or hate for "white people music." I think swif can understand its the same with his kind of music because i cant stand emo.

I can understand why people wouldnt like the vocals in metal bands though so i wont hate on others for not liking it. The guitars and drums own in our music though.

So was Jimmy Hendrix white music or black music? Or how about Sevendust?... Rage against the machine?  Skindred?  Lenny?

I guess I\'m just confused as to what exactly makes music white or black music.

Throwing music into any racial category is friggin retarded.

Antichrist Superstar was the best album and that is due to the heavy influence of Trent Reznor and Jeordie White. Anything else has been medicore.

He is not a "rock pioneer". He is a shock rocker, in the sense of Alice Cooper. Nothing more. He has said nothing that another artist has not said. Done nothing that has not been done. He just knows how to do it to get attention.

With that said, I own all the albums and don\'t mind the music for the most part, but I do think he is over-rated.

As for emo> everything..

Is ..

Senses Fail
Something Corporate
My Chemical Romance
Modest Mouse
Sunny Day Real Estate

Considered emo? If so - emo is okay.

...

Or is...

YellowCard
Dashboard Confessional
Fallout Boy

Considered Emo? If so...Emo bites.

Old Modest Mouse or new Modest Mouse?

I noticed that Blender (think it was) had Modest Mouse has one of the best "new artist", even though they have been around for years. Infact, their newest album is by far the weakest one. Go look up some of the classic songs like "Talking Shit about a Pretty Sunset", "Inerstate 8" and other old ones.

Yellowcard bites. My g/f loves all that emo crapola.

Manson is okay considering the trash that\'s being peddled as music today, IMO.

He\'s not as lyrically deep as he sounds.

I mean, guns.. God.. and government. WTG Brian. What\'s your point?

Yeah im pretty damn sure.

And as for "white music" and "black music" i dont really find putting it that way too too bad but i can understand were a lot of you guys are coming from. I mean nobody likes to have somebody say I hate this type of music, as if they dont like some small part of you because youre apart of that "race."

Its more of a common courtesy sort of thing in my opinion because when you get to the overall view of things, Rap, hip hop, etc. is/was developed, and performed mostly by black people. Now there are those grey area but say you listen to gore metal, or black metal, or thrash or grind core etc etc. Most of the people that make, develop blah blah blah are white people.

So you can kinda say that there is some truth behind the statements but i just feel that its more pleasant or common courtesy to not put labels on everything.

That was far too much than i inteded to write.

I don\'t mind emo but I can only take so much pussy whining. I can listen to some when I\'m depressed or in the mood. Other than that, it is full rock in my car. I only have a few emo songs on my computer anyway. I\'m not sure if Taking Back Sunday is emo but I do listen to them.

when I think of emo, I think of wannabe punk bands with 17 year old boys who aren\'t good song-writers... but they also dig "screamo" which I hate.
Title: Marylin Manson.
Post by: Titan on January 21, 2005, 07:59:54 PM
Just put it this way. You feel really depressed to the point of drowning your sorrows with booze and Samwise. That is the kind of music they sing about, really depressing heart break music. Basically, the artists are really bad in the field of love, or really f\'ed up in the head.
Title: Marylin Manson.
Post by: Viper_Fujax on January 21, 2005, 08:58:53 PM
yellowcard isnt emo. It\'s 15 year old girl music. And you need a button up pladish shirt, a trucker hat, jeans, maybe some sunglasses, and maybe a tie if your stuck in the 2003\'s.

And you arent racist if you say black music or white music. Its just ignorant. Reread MPTheory and Nicon\'s posts.

I love how you say how much you hate isolating races to certain types of music and in the same sentence say that white people suck at rapping(which in essence makes it non-white people\'s music).

Just because there is only one famous white rapper does not mean that white people suck at rapping. Do black people suck at playing the guitar? I was watching MTV and I didn\'t see any so it must be true.

This man has got it ^ more or less.

Im not really focusing on the topic too much.

And emo - Sucks horribly imo. As does most of this pop punkish stuff etc etc.

Good Charlotte, NFG, Dashboard and even new blink all make me want to puke. Im sorry if there are a few of you that like this stuff but personally i cant take all of the whining. And when its not whining, they just sound whiny or just plain annoying. That and it always seems that stars (as in the 5 point star) are always big emo/pop punk symbols. Why i mention it? IDK but for some odd reason, it too becomes annoying.

w/e. Im super tired. Dont mind me.

Trent created Manson. Without him and NIN there would be no manson, he formed his image, his sound, everything. Manson was a puppet.

For people who like his music, there is a wealth of true industrial electro goth music out there that just stomps all over his hype machine. The guy is whacked. His sound is good, but there is so much more out there that\'s just so much better.

I have yet to listen to a single rap or hip-hop person who I can really say posesses real artistic merit.

The only music I can\'t stand is the type where people are playing a bunch of garbage that sounds like a 3 yr old on some pots and than some wanna be rock star screaming at the top of his lungs. That type of stuff has no musical talent IMO. I don\'t understand how people can possibly understand that "music".

I for the most part don\'t stick to one genre of music, but if its a good song than ill listen to it, if its bad than just turn it off.

It depends on what mood im in but some of the things my sister and I (sometimes) listen to are far harder than anything you\'ll find on the radio.

Death, Black, etc etc - metal. The list goes on though shes far more into that shit than i am. I used to be moreso than i am now. Now i can just tolerate it. The scene is just polluted with dicks and nazis. Though thats not the only reason why i dont listen anymore.
