Man, he did such a great job of dropping off the face of the earth when he retired.

I read an article the other day that he still sends jokes in to Letterman for his monologue.

Guess not any more.

I have maybe watched Leno three times tops since Carson left.

Do you kids even know who Johnny Carson is?

Do you just think of Ed McMahon as the dude from Publisher\'s Clearing House?

I didn\'t get to watch him, but for a few clips. I appreciate what he\'s done and read the article about him pitching jokes to Letterman.

It\'s a sad day to see him go.

For those who don\'t know, he hosted the Tonight Show  and Ed McMahon was kind of like the Andy Richter cohost.

probably, the greatest comedian of all time IMO.  His delivery was unfoulable, and timing was outstanding.  If anyone doesn\'t know who he his, they should pick up the Johnny Carson box set, and I garuntee that after viewing it they will spit on the current talk show hosts.

I just bought the set not too long ago. I can\'t believe he finally passed, though. :( That bites.

It\'s hard to believe some people don\'t know Carson.

It was just a normal thing to watch him when he was on.

Sad.

no he hosted the tonight show, silly-ass. One of the longest-running late-night shows in usa. Funny guy. Much funnier than that douchebag Leno.

And if you were being facetious, then piss off. ;)

I never saw much of him but did think he was a funny guy. And I already know the late night shows suck nowadays. I\'m sure Carson kicked their asses. RIP man.

Carson was a phenom, he pulled in more viewers than the prime time shows.  He was an icon, and could make or break your career, if you combined all the power and talent of Oprah, Letterman and Leno they would still fail in comparison with Carson.

There is just no explanation of how big Carson was in the talk show world.

If you were on his show, then you were it.

Especially if you were a comedian.  There are many many stories of how the 4 minutes being on that show just changed people\'s lives.

Leno is useless to me.  Conan is useless to me.

I probably won\'t watch a late night talk show regularly until Jon Stewart gets a gig.  He is long overdue.  WHen rumours happened last year with him to replace abc news\' show, I was happy.  Still happy though since he\'s still on at 11.

He basically started everyone in comedy;  Dangerfield, Rickles, Cosby, Woody Allen, Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne, Garry Shandling, and these are just off the top of my head.  But anyways, he was basically the most imortant figure in American TV

for the people who don\'t know who Carson is, I guarantee he is a direct influence to the people that make you laugh on TV and movies nowadays so his influence lives on regardless/
RIP

I find it ironic that you\'re the ultimate authority on teenage geeks.
