I was jsut wondering today why post election that even though the voter turn out was very high even with the risk of death, some people still believe we are forcing our views on these people in Iraq. If anything it is the terroritst and rebels there that try to impose thier views with death threats. I think that some people just have to give up their argument in some points and admit their wrong. Also some people blame our government for being selfish and not caring about others, but than we are the only ones to lose thousands of lives to bring freedom to other people.( I know some people are gonna say "Just wait and see what the goernment gets out of this" to that last sentance) I mean we have a very stong country militarialry(sp?). politically and socially, but as soon as we put our nose into other peoples businesses were just big bullies who are pushing other smaller countries around.
Also I\'m sick of everyone complaining about the government and the way we live our lives, because I\'d absolutley love to see some people go to a third world country and live there for a while, than come back and tell everyone how much they love their life here. I just think some people here (America), including myself, don\'t realize how easy we have it. I could be wrong, but it\'s just that I constantly hear the people who are consistantly opposing the way are country is going, even though that same government is one of the reasons why they can live so comfortably at home. Anyone in the world who doesn\'t have that freedom would die to have it, and the people who voted in Iraq showed that by risking their lives. I know I don\'t truley realize what I have, and I don\'t think I possibly could (and this goes for the rest of you as well) unless I have lived in conditions where I can\'t live as I do here.
Just writing how I felt, wasn\'t aiming anything I said at anyone in particular, more of the America peoples.

nobody\'s mad at the gov\'t it\'s just that some, well me in particular know that the u.s. did not do this for the iraqi people because they "CARE"...see how your beloved gov\'t already has you believing that? If that\'s the case why go some of those african countries that are running amok with corrupted governments and savage killings happening daily? please don\'t come with a remark of "well go back to africa or some such garbage" i pay enough taxes and work hard daily to earn my stay here...
the u.s. is thee best place to live, no doubt about it, i\'ve known cats that went to england, france the islands and they still say the u.s. is where it\'s at...i\'ve stated before in another thread yea i guess we really don\'t know how good we have it...but at what cost abroad is the u.s. imposing it\'s foreign policy for the sake of us living the way we do? i\'m not even talkin about the war on terror...i mean in general?...nobody really knows how our gov\'t conducts itself outside of our borders except for we see on tv...
this country is slowly goin down the tubes...it\'s totally backwards without gettin into too much detail...bush has ordred another what 83 billion for the war, but then educational programs are bein cut, there will be zero social security for you and I at this point, and jobs....bush stated himself that there just isn\'t enough people working to support social security...add to the fact most of our IT jobs are bein outsourced to india and other countries abroad...nobody says anything about this yet it continues to happen...
bush states jobs are bein created that\'s bulls**t i don\'t think buliding a wendys or a mcdonalds down the street counts as true income...it\'s amazing how we can get money for wars almost immediately yet, money for the basic fubdamentals of life get challenged or they say"we have no money in the budget for that"......end rant........

I never said that I believed we went to war to free the people. I know we went to war over "WMD\'s". But people complain that our soldiers are dying and the only reason they think they are dying is for the reason that our government said. It may not of been our initial reason for invading but it is one of the things that came along. So to say that people are dying over there for no reason is jsut a ludacris statement. People don\'t need to be told that freeing the Iraqi\'s is the main goal to see that the war is worth our men dying.
Thats all I meant by that.

Nobody is mad at the government, just shocked in disbelief that it\'s doing nothing more than selling us a story and continues to mislead Americans. The elections went smooth, but how does that benefit us in the long run? Saddam is out of power, but how was he a threat and could it have been stopped another way?
We would never know. And now we have Iran, North Korea and Lybia threatening us the way Iraq hasn\'t done in a while.
Now we watch this new budget cuts, amazing actually. There goes my neighborhood(HUD, Medicaid and on...)
-
Lybia is threatening us?
About time someone cut some of these programs - they don\'t inspire people to make their lives better - they just give people a free ride.
-
What story exactly is the government trying to sell us? I haven\'t really listened to Bush or his people speak so all I have heard about the war is what the news tells me, so basically I hear all the bad news and just the really important good news.
I\'m just trying to argue the fact that some people say that we are wasting lives in Iraq when that is completly wrong, and if that\'s what you believe you are selfish and don\'t wish to help others. I\'m just saying people focus too much on the bad aspects of this war and are blind to the good. It is one of the least costly war life wise in history, we are bringing freedom to an entire nation and we are taking out terrorists. Of coarse were going to lose lives, but people seem to think that the amount we have lost is too much.

it\'s not that some think the amount is too much it\'s just that those young men and women lives didn\'t have to be extinguished so early in the first place...did bush really give those inspectors a chance? Nope he told them to get the hell outa there or risk gettin bombed...he didn\'t exhaust all of his options....from bush\'s stance and attitude at the time he wanted nothing else but to go to war, anyone watching bush from oct 02- march 03 knew that.
i\'m a little sesnsistive when it comes to s**t like this cause yea these are human lives not mere grunts you send to get slaughtered and then you say "well uh we didn\'t find those weapons but at least we bought libert and freedom to the iraqi people"...point is bush was supposed to use war as a last option when clearly he didn\'t...

We should have just asked nicely for Saddam to step down, that would have been a better option.

how about stayin focused on the one guy who we know was responsible for 911? yea instead of overlooking him and going on some type of personal crusade to withdraw saddam...i also remenber n.kores poppin a whole lotta s**t straight to bushes face...yet we don\'t to fight them..heavens no let\'s talk with them ..yea yea i know n.korea possibly has nukes and would be too much of a risk yadda yadda yadda, but if you\'re so concerned of these so called wmd\'s and situation is grave, yet you say absolutley nothing when n.korea stated they will bring death to the u.s. if we launched an attack..i remember colin powell saying "we heard what n.korea stated and it\'s nothing more than empty threats" riiight...

The left seems to think Bin Laden is the Holy Grail of terrorists - with his capture terrorism will magically end.
-
The left thinks that?
Wow, this coming from a man who supports the "War on Terrorism"....
-
I agree with cloud. We are too selfish and some of us don\'t even realize it. When\'s the last time you visited a 3rd world country?
It takes a real person to risk their life for someone else\'s freedom.
-
Yes, the left is constantly whining about how we haven\'t caught the mastermind behind all of terrorism. They bring it up regarding Iraq constantly - claiming Saddam wasn\'t a bad guy. Being the neocon I am I live in the real world. Hippy.
-
I know the Prez is the main man in charge, but the democrats have a part in the governments decisions too, but of course nobody knows that.
-
GigaShadow.... My point may have not been clear.
Yes liberals whine about bin laden, and it is pointless.
But declaring war on a idea, such as terrorism, is declaring war on something that cannot be completley erased. I think the government is doing a good job stopping further attacks, but it is not because we invaded Iraq.

Wow, you called liberals hippies!
Thats a new one, I\'m really offended...
I constantly bring up Osama not because he was the "mastermind behind all terrorism"(which you invented in order to keep your rhetoric seem at the very least conceivable) but because he was the MASTERMIND of the SEPTEMBER 11 attacks that completely immobilized this country! It just happens to be a HUGE deal Giga, but appereantly we forgot that our beloved President promised us this guy dead or alive, instead, we get a shit hole in Iraq and Rice threatening another country with war. Because appereantly our military can sustain being stretched even further.
It\'s sad watching the BS rhetoric of this government being spewed out by it\'s followers.

Anyway, Mystiq in one post you whine about how we are doing nothing about Iran, North Korea (and Lybia whatever the hell that means). Then in this thread you whine about us threatening Iran. Which is it Miss tiq? You are being inconsistent hippy.
-
When liberals bring up the whole "Well why not _________ country..." They are simply playing devil\'s advocate, because the people at the head of the US do not have any real good answers.
-
They would cry either way DH. Our leaders are much smarter than you or I.
-
I don\'t believe that for a second.
-
Well maybe they aren\'t smarter than me, but anyone who thinks Anarchy is a good thing really doesn\'t have a clue IMO.
-
I could say the same about you, but it wouldn\'t get me anywhere.
-
You really think you are smarter than our leaders? You being oh what, 16 years old? I am trying not to laugh... really... not.
-
I think they know more about certain things, and I know more about certain things.
All people know different things.
Politics and intelligence are kind of different.
I think they know more school-book knowledge due to their wide-spanning experience and education, BUT I think I know more about other subjects.
And I think I\'d be a nicer leader. :P
But no, I think they have a better education then me.
Is that what your asking?
Applying intelligence to politics is a bit messy.
-
Ok you can type whatever you want after this, but I am not going to reply as this conversation is rapidly approaching the bottom.
They not only have a better education than you, but they also have more years of experience in their fields than you have years of actually being on this earth. You don\'t hold a candle to them - Republican or Dem. To actually think you are smarter than them - come back to reality DH this isn\'t fantasy land. I am trying to remember if I ever thought I was smarter than our leaders when I was 16... nope can\'t really say I did, I wasn\'t that naive.
Go to college, go get your masters and/or PhD and then come back and tell me how much you don\'t know.
-
Your view of what qualifys as intelligence is narrow and preverse.
You don\'t have to be a buisnessman/politician to be intelligent, you don\'t even need any formal education at all.
But I don\'t expect you to understand this.
I cannot say if I am more or less inteligent then a man that I have never met.
Age and experience do not neccicarly dictate intelligence.
All I believe about the siutation is as follows: Bush is president. I will never be President. The President oversees and allows things I disagree with. Therefore, I like myself better then President Bush and I do not feel he has the right social knowledge to be a good leader.
End of discussion, there is more then one answer to every question. Get over yourself.

The bigotry in these forums runs rampant yet the moderator seems not to care?
I wonder why? If I was to call him "whitey" or resort to a allusional word for his race I would be labeled a racist and be trialed. Hypocritical bigots.
In one post I whine about how we are doing nothing abour Iran, NK and Lybia(The country which NK is doing deals with...Or Syria one of them, it\'s on a freaking thread!)
Anyways that is not the point. What good is threatening going to do? None, because we can\'t do ANYTHING about those countries because all of our might has gone into extermenating the most deadliest and most dangerous country of them all-which in the end, after the dust of a rushed war settled, had not one degree of a threat level. But, of course, we freed the people-our intentions all along. Right?

"Is our children learning?"
Quote of the year.
You\'ve got to be kidding me if you claim that Bush, and I\'m using him because he just happens to be the most important guy in Washington, is bright at all. The guy went to a top university because of name and money, just like all our leaders do. I doubt any of them came from the ground up. Sad really, and if you base their intelligence on "what they know and experience" then why don\'t they open up to what "they know" and then we can measure intelligence levels?
They aren\'t more intelligent, they just have access to more information.
-
oh to be young and naive
I love how all these high schoolers think they know more than government leaders. They must have learned all that knowledge and gained the experience in 3rd period right before P.E.
Whether you agree with them or not they *are* smarter than you. I\'d like to see you guys getting elected president after saying "Is our children learning?"

Good call.
You people can say whatever you want, your entitled to your opinion. But time and time again the conservatives and moderates on this forum blatantly refuse to even consider options and ideas presented by either the far-left, or young-people.
Your ideas on intelligence are just as skewed as your views on every other social subject.
Fight Diversity! :bounce:

I\'ve heard it been said, young people are more idealistic, old people are more realistic.
Either way it\'s nice to see young people interested in politics for once. Well not after reading Mystiq\'s posts. :p

Nobody on these forums are more intelligent than George W. Hes not a good public speaker, it doesn\'t make him stupid. If you base someone\'s knowledge on how they speak and a few gramatical errors than your view on what knowledge is is messed up. You go head to head to him in a Jeopardy type of thing, I gurantee he wins. Or if you don\'t want to see only his book smarts, take some sort of tests that put you in certain situations where you must figure a logical way out. I bet he will win.
-
Jeopardy tests knowledge of useless facts.
And I don\'t care how he talks, I care about what he does.
