While Sony are putting their weight behind Blu-Ray, it seems that Microsoft might just stick with good ol"-fashioned DVD in a bid to keep the costs of the system and its games down. Not even the HD variety, mind, which Microsoft has already put its backing behind.
While we find it hard to believe that Microsoft wouldn"t support next generation formats at all, especially given its goal of becoming more than just a console, we wonder if there will be numerous add-ins or bolt-ons to support one or even both of the new disc formats.
Well, if the new blue laser format camps each forge ahead each on their own, with no clear leader to determine the direction of the high capacity next gen solution, Microsoft may just say to heck with it, rather than to guess wrong and upset customers if one format is eventually dumped in favor of the other.
Hmmm, interesting....

Damn that would suck but MS has all the money it needs to throw in a cheaper HD-DVD drive (compared to blu-ray). The thing is Sony has lots to gain because they are one of the creators of blu-ray and also own Columbia Pictures.
To MS it\'s just a cool selling feature. Thanks for the article, I hope they go with a blue laser drive.
