Title: Constantine

Saw it tonight... meh, mediocre. It had some cool parts. The only thing that saved the movie was the special effects, the plot could have been better.

Doh, I wanted to hear awesome. Oh well, everything Reeves will appear in from this day foward will be compared to The Matrix, therefore all his upcoming shickle will blow. Sad but true.

I was able to watch Equilibrium yesterday night, a film that did not reach Europe. It was pretty interesting though I missed better special effects and a little deep argument, but those are failures proper of lack of money. Watch it.

I\'m going tonight.  I\'ve already read the book and I thought it was really entertaining, however I could understand where it could come off as lame or mediocre.

I know what youre saying. Personally I dont care too much about what other people say because my tastes in movies are completely different than most people that i know. Of course it would help if people were raving about it but hey, either way im going to see it and i still think it looks decent if anything.

I loved it. I thought the story was very good. And they did not screw it up at the end. I thought it was very interesting from start to finish.

I actually want to see it again. Just because I really enjoy things of this nature. And the movie was actually pretty good.

Horrible cuts, terrible pace, and awful acting make for one disappointing movie, imo.  I haven\'t been this upset since Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

I suppose I set myself up for disappointment when I read the book, as is usually the case, but I had hoped since the book is based on the actual screenplay it would be somewhat comparable...so wrong.  I can only assume that either John Shirley (author of the book) went above and beyond the call of duty, or that the director visciously fucked the screenplay.  I\'m going with the latter.

I highly recommend the book to those of you who like the movie, you\'ll get MUCH more out of the story than you could have possibly appreciated with the movie.  My friend, who had not read the book, said the movie felt incomplete in many regards.  I filled him in on some of the missing details and he agrees, the movie is half-assed.

Anyway, the preview for Sin City was very cool. *shrugs

WTF Mate?

I love Prisoner of Azkabam, and the acting was far from shitty.

Well, I can\'t help you other than to remind you that it\'s my opinion.  I found the acting very poor and most of the dialouge(sp?) awkwardly played out.

I\'ve heard that those who only saw the Prisoner of Azkaban movie thought it was good, even the best HP so far.  I read, and absolutely adored, the book though.  The sense of immenent danger, which makes the 3rd book so much fun to read, was lost, and several important details were underplayed or entirely absent.

This is the only thread I\'ve seen anywhere in which the Constantine movie book has been mentioned at all.

Wouldn\'t we all just be better off picking up the first Hellblazer TPB? :)

I\'ve heard good things about the novelization, at least. You can\'t say that about everything.

First I am hearing there is a book for this. But you can\'t ever expect that the movie will be as good as the book. I mean things are always omitted and never elabatered on for various cinema reasons.

I expected it to be as good because both the book and movie are based on the same screenplay.  I only know about it because I spotted the book about three weeks ago when I was browsing for a new read.  It was only 6$ so I figured why not, it can\'t be that different from what I\'m anxiously waiting to see.  The book was fantastic in many regards, but two things of note were the pace at which the story unfolds and the visuals the author manages to convey with words.  It is an intense and frightening read, two things I felt were very much lost in the movie.

I dont know what to tell anybody really. I liked it a lot but at the same time there were some so so parts that i thought could have been better. I dont want to say it was bad because its not but i dont want to say it was the shit because i dont think its that either.

I saw it for free as usual so that made it worth seeing anyway. Maybe it was because i had to sit so close to the screen that made it not as good. Maybe ill see it again later.

I say, see it for yourself. Dont take too many opinions to heart and go during a matinee time.

Saw it last night.  Thought it was good.  It wasnt the best movie I\'ve ever seen but hey, you can ony do so much with the story.  I was satisfied with my $5.50 ticket.

It was entertaining. That\'s pretty much it. Entertaining. I don\'t really have a like or dislike feeling toward it. It just made me feel like meh. This movie was banned in a few countries for gruesome religious depictions. FUN!!

One too many cliches but I was satisfied.  I wish someone would look at Frank E. Peretti\'s books and make a movie about them.  Much better stories regarding heaven/hell on earth.

I suggest you start reading the first 9 series of the books if you wanna get deep into the story.

Thats what I was told.

Never paid attention to the movie reviews.

Nine timess ouuta ten the book is much better, but if they were to go by the book the price tag on the movie would more than likely be well over 100 mil

Just saw it. I liked it a lot, but im confused about 2 things..

[sp]What was god\'s part in it? Was he just sitting back and watching things happened because keanu said "we are god\'s ant farm." But then they said god and the devil made a pact and are having a game so that threw me off.

Lastly, was Gabriel "betrayed" by god because she/he did the wrong thing by creating evil so people would triumph and be good? Because i thought the belief was that if you had the right intentions that you would be accepted by god. And then god just made her human to prove herself?[/sp]

Yeah, I\'ve come up with several questions myself since seeing it over a week ago.

[sp]It was mentioned several times that demons CAN\'T cross over into our world, it\'s not possible.

It happened numerous times through out the movie.[/sp]
Title: Constantine
Post by: Viper_Fujax on February 26, 2005, 04:26:18 PM
[sp]That was what was unique about the situation. The devil\'s son was going to come out in the world and take over. But Satan stopped him by sending him back to hell.

I wasnt too sure about that scene where Constantine\'s friend died..not the fat one, but the nerd. And when he got attacked by the swarm of bugs[/sp]

[sp]But Mammon wasn\'t through yet, why is it that demons could cross over willingly?  The movie gave no explanation.

Balthazar had something to with Beeman\'s death. (the nerd)[/sp]

[sp]ah yea. Thats a good point. Maybe just to make the movie better in that they could come at any moment. Or that explaining it would be more dragged out rather than if it just happened.

I guess there was something cool after the credits that left it open. Pretty ticked off i didnt stay for it. Anyone see it?[/sp]

Standard demons were crossing over through people.. That asian chick kinda explained that..  The devils son wasn\'t a standard demon, he had to follow rules to get through.

ohh yea don\'t read the above.

[sp]Constantine visited Chaz\'s grave.  Constantine starts walking away then stops, turns around and sees Chaz, with angel wings ,crouching on top of his tombstone.  Chaz flies off...[/sp]

That doesn\'t explain the insect demon or the horde of demons when the street lights were going out.  The insect demon might have been a half-breed but the flying demons were not.

F***! I wish i would have stayed to see that. I knew there might have been something but I didnt want to inconvenience my friend who got me in (he was leaving).
[sp]I still dont understand how the kid died. I mean i know how but did mammon leave the girls body to kill him? Because by that time i thought he had already possesed the girl.[/sp] Meh. There were a lot of questions that i had and a couple explanations for some others. As odd as it may sound, im at least glad to see that people liked the movie enough to talk about it.

shrugs*

[sp]It was Gabriel while she was invisible.  It was also Gabriel who tore through that building when what\'s her name was taken. [/sp]

Like I said, if you liked the movie do yourself a favor and pick up the novelization by John Shirley.  As I mentioned before, I thought the movie seemed hacked up in some areas that I would have been at a complete loss for had it not been for the book.

i really want to read the book. But reading bores the crap out of me. Maybe if it was online because i can read on a computer screen all day.

Just something about books. I either lose concentration a lot easier then have to go back and read, or i want to skip over a paragraph, and another paragraph, etc. so thered be no point in reading.

Its kinda easy to tell gabriel killed the kid, a few seconds later Constantine was doing a spell to revil who was in the pool area with them.

I didn\'t mind the movie, a few unanswered questions though and it did drag on in certain parts, but it wasn\'t entirely crap.

[sp]Perhaps it was just me but at first i didnt think Gabriel had anything to do with the squabble until the part when he/she appeared. I wonder what Gabriel will do now. meh.[/sp]

I guess i just didnt fit the implications in with the obvious.

Great movie. I enjoyed everything about this movie. I am not a fan of Hellblazer so the minor changes they made didnt bother me at the least. Keanu did very well as John Constantine. He has the perfect personality for the part. The special effects were great and I loved the exorcism at the beginning. I am definitely going to keep on the lookout for the sequel.
