Chellenging and huge according to the review :)

whats with the blur?
-
??
Are you refering to the textures?
-
Ill be playing it this week most likely. I hope its what 2 should have been.
*crosses fingers*
-
Wow, those graphics suck balls.
-
I\'ve said it once and I\'ll say it again. Look at the original DMC screencaps and then go play it. The game is meant to be seen in motion. If you go play and still think it sucks balls, then my apologies.
-
No apologies needed im sure. If he thinks the game looks like shit then tough f*ing titty. The original still looks pretty good IMO.
-
I\'ll just forget DMC2 ever happened... although I\'m overcome with MVP 2005...
-
those textures look almost bad. I guess framerates and more characters on screen and able to maintain 60fps is more important than good textures and polygon counts. And i agree too, if they can keep the game flow in 60fps, less load times, and great gameplay, it will be better than good graphic but everything else failed...

Dante seems to be made from more polygons IMO than DMC1.
And I am wih Phil.
DMC images looked crapped. While the game in mnotion was one of the best looking games then.
Also there are more effects present onm screen than any of the previous DMC games.
Just watch some gameplay movies. Its far more impressive than these screenshots. And if you have noticed there are no bars on screen.Apparently we arent watching at the full screen but at a zoomed part of the screen
-
yeah, i watched some clips and was impressive at the fluidity and details that some characters have. Its look better than the pictures...

The game looks just as good as any of the other ones. The muzzle flash, while exagerrated, looks good as does most of everything else. Nothing ground breaking but it easily does the job. I really hate the fact that they didnt use the same voice actor. I know dante is supposed to be younger but still. At times he sounds kinda whiney but not to some unbearable amount.
They put a lot of old elements back in the game but the controls arent the same as DMC1. They have 4 or so fighting styles that you can switch between before missions. You can build up these different styles but what happens once you level up is beyond me. I wasnt paying full attention. The not so great part is that you cant switch between the two at any time you want.
The animations are nice and the move variety is decent. No more floating upwards when you shoot like in DMC2 (blah) and if you delay pressing a button in your normal slash combo he\'ll do a different one. Doing "stinger" off of a ledge allows you to jump really far like in the first one as well.
So far the story isnt bad. Nothing completely crazy. I think i only got to the 3rd or 4th mission but the pacing seems alright.
I wont go into too much detail but i think the game is very easily worth a rental (at least). The game is pretty challenging like DMC1 and nowhere near as easy as DMC2. I dont know what they offer for longevity or how long the actual game is since i just got to play it today but if you liked the first one enough to buy it then you might consider investing in this one.

A Finnish publication went forth to claim that DMC3 is "An uninspired mess that has no sense of style nor substance." Worst in the series?
Anyone dare second this?
-
Well.Only someone who has the game can tell us for sure.An average press rating is 8.7 so far at ign

nicon, what style sre you starting off with? even tho there are different styles, in reviews around the web they say to pick ONE style and stay with it and build it up throughout the whole game because changing the style with every mission doesn\'t give dante enough time to level up properly ...are you doing this? or are you changing with every mission?

You guys haven\'t seen the videos of the game apparently. Didn\'t DMC1 get a perfect 10?

i\'ve seem videos, and imo i tend to think that the 1st devil may cry still plays more smoothly than this one..bu that could be because there\'s alot more goin on in this version...so evi are you sayin that the 1st is still better than the 3rd? i mean cause a 10 back then probably won\'t receive a 10 now...
-
I\'ve yet to come across a video running at 60fps.. Don\'t judge the smoothness from vids.
-
Playing the game is still the one and only way to get a feel for it. ;) But mm\'s original comment saying "LøøK HøW T3H SuCK T3H T3XtUReZz 4®3!"... I always find it annoying when people say that.
so evi are you sayin that the 1st is still better than the 3rd?
The 1st one kicked ass, the 2nd one blew ass. The 1st one was made by a different team than the 2nd one. This 3rd installment is made by the same crap team that made the 2nd one. But I still have high hopes because they realized the DMC2 blew goats and tried to make it more like the original.

The game is still a 10 to me.

I thought the original team and director was involved in the third
The game is still a 10 to me.
Cant recall anywhere DMC1 gettin a perfect 10.But also reverse your thinking.Dont you think that a game that gets an 8 or a 9 today might have gotten higher praise and scores if it was released 4 or 3 years before?
Not that I ve playied DMC3.But most reviews give it an 8 or 9.
-
the guy at Gamestop told me it was HARD. I\'ll rent it before I buy it.
By the way I like the "booby" Avatar!
-
meh, if this place gets filled up with anymore more zexy avvy\'s I\'ll have to stop browsing here at work (I deliver at dominoes pizza).

Worst in the series? Not even close. Personally i find it much better than 2. A few old things from the 1st have been thrown in. I can easily agree that its not what the first one was but its a lot better than 2.
Clips im using Trickster style only so far.
The game is pretty smooth though there have been a few times where it slows down in big battles with a lot of enemies and such. Personally i think it looks awesome when it slows down, as odd as that sounds. It never really messes me up so it just ends up making the battle more dramatic.
Meh.
And the game is very hard. "Supposedly" Our normal mode is equal to the difficulty of Japan\'s Hard mode, which i find odd since the Japs usually walk all over our asses in just about anything game realated (or at least those games which come from japan).
I find it great. Ensures longevity - that is unless you cant beat it and get too frustrated. The second one was FAR too easy and the difficulty of this one alone (accompanied by a not so terrible presmise and battle system) makes it much better than the second one already.
My friend and I have some trouble in some places and end up wasting a lot of orbs buying yellow orbs ( to continue from a certain spot). Without that i can definately see somebody getting frustrated by this game. I reccomend getting at least one yellow orb. The good thing is if you die but save with a yellow orb and dont use it, you get to keep it when you restart the mission.... or something like that.
Some of my problems are that they didnt get the same voice actor and the new guy sounds kinds whiney sometimes. The script is ok but could be a lot better. Im sure there are a few other things (like the lack of force edge) but nothing else springs to mind.
Meh. Im done. The games good to me and I Love the first and basically hate the second but do as you wish.
-
i\'m with uni as far as thinking the original team made the third one...for some reason i just think even tho from reviews this latest joint is pretty hot, i still think if the original cast worked on it, it could\'ve been even better....
-
I rented it. It\'s good but it is hard. But I don\'t how many times capcom is going to remake this game but the camera angles still suck hard. You can turn the camera but it moves sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow and it only works in certain areas :thumbsdown;
