i heard that the new playstation 2s, the smaller ones that came out this year, i heard that u cant leave them on for too long because they will over heat n all this other stuff. if anyone knows anything about this please let me know everything you KNOW about it and why its like that.

No. The fuss is that there\'re no fans, but apparently they\'re just smaller.

Because there\'s no power button on the back, they recommend unplugging it when not in use. I thought that was silly, but since I hardly use it anymore, I just pulled the plug from the back of the system.

there are fans, just smaller. I have one and have never had a prob. leave it on all the time, too. Don\'t have carpet though...prob not a good idea...

aight, thanks. i figured it out too. i had it on for a couple days now. im trying to beat the Def Jam fight for new york game.  i jus got grand turismo 4 too but didnt get to play it yet. n i cant wait til the new twisted metal comes out. what are some other hot games out or gun be out. or does any1 kno wen the new twisted metal come out

I never ever unplug my ps2. If it takes a dump its under warranty. and if it burns my house down I\'m sure Sony will be happy to buy me a new one.

I mean I dont leave it on, I leave it on standby with the red dot. it\'s nothing the old ps2 couldn\'t handle so why cant this one, and it not like the fans are supposed to be on when it\'s on standby.

well, its save electricity cost.  I guess Sony care enough to informed us to not waste electricity cost if you don\'t use it for a long period of time.  Just turn it off on the back or disconnect the power cord for the newer models...

But again, it probably won\'t cost much anyway if we aren\'t using it for a long time...standby mode uses very little wattages...
