I\'m bored, so I figured i\'d make a thread.
anyways, two of the most famous songs of all time.
Which one do you prefer?
I chose rhapsody.
but Stairs still gets love too.
-
I gotta go with Rhaspody, much funner song to sing.
-
AHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :fu: :sconf:
My head is going to explode! I like \'em both. It\'s a close tie.

I agree.
Both songs are pretty damn long.

It\'s plain and obvious. "Stairway to Heaven" is a superior composition, both harmonically and lyrically. Musicians would choose the Led Zeppelin song. People who don\'t know shit about music would choose the Queen song, which is nothing more than a novelty song when you get right down to it.
I would vote for "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" by the Allman Brothers. :)
-
stair ^same reasons
-
Core is teh right.
Stairway gets my vote.
-
I know this will be lame for my reasoning but I have very fond memories at a young age of watching Wayne and Garth headbang to rhapsody. Which still makes me laugh to this day.
Now I love Stairs like I said before, but for me whenever rhapsody comes on when i\'m out drinking with my buddies. its impossible for us not to sing and act retarted to it, so its a song for me that brings a boat load of good memories with it.
I find I mostly enjoy stairs when i\'m by myself and can just relax and let it come over you.
-
Rhapsody for me.
-
BH for me
-
queen sucks ass, so I gotta go with my boy Jimmy Page. That f*cker knew how to rock a pair of skin-tight dragon-embroidered flares. Freddie Mercury was a misplaced flamboyant broadway pillow-biter.
-
core said it perfectly
-
Led Zepplin will forver be cool because of the groupie and the fish.
I mean anyone who will screw a groupie with a live fish is cool in my books.
Oh and for DVD collectors, if you pick up the Led Zepplin DVD it has amazing footage of them doing a small gig with the audience just sitting around them cross legged. Years before they became famous. Very cool indeed.
Anyways, back to the 2 songs. I don\'t find it particulary fair to judge someones entire taste in music based upon one song :)
Had the comparison been between oh...lets say "rock your body" by Justin Timberlake and "over and over again" by Nelly and Tim McGraw.
Had that been the case, I think castration wouldn\'t of been to far behind :P

I agree with your comment but I gotta say you make Queen sound liek they suck and if you think that then well, you suck ;)
I\'ll go with Queen, but Underpressure is a much cooler song than rhapsody.

Stairway is a better song lyric wise, but I would only listen to it if I was in the mood for that song. Now Bohemian Raspody is a song I can listen to anytime.

Boom! there we go, thats pretty much what I was trying to say :)

sturr wizzle to hizzle yo.... no dizzle about thizzle
-
I like SW as a whole better, definitely the superior song and is a perfect song, but when the guitars get heavy in Bohemian it\'s simply the greatest thing ever in my book. 30 seconds of pure bliss.
Queen is an awesome band, but really has nothing on Zeppelin.
-

Fo rizzle.

Stairway (used to like it) -Most over played, covered song ever though. Well maybe not ever but to some degree. Every damn person i know that plays the guitar, learns or wants to learn that song first and to be honest, im sick of it. Good song, composition , w/e. My vote is on Rhapsody for the time being.
-
lol yes, that was one of my goals when I started playing guitar.
That and dream on.
-
Learning the song and playing it well are 2 different things. ;) Definitely not a beginner\'s song, no matter how much they want it to be.
-
hehe yeah, I never did finish learning it...

Doesn\'t that give you a hint of the overall greatness of the song?

Yes perhaps it does. Like i said - " i used to like it." People just ruined it. Shit happens. At this point and time despite its "greatness" I\'d much rather listen to Bohemian Rhapsody.
-
I would probably have to go with Bohemian Rhapsody.
Yes, Stairway is probably the better song musically and lyrically, but I at least just can\'t sing along with it and get into the mood of the song like with Bohemian Rhapsody. Better song to listen to with a lot of people, and just more fun. I love stairway, but I just think Rhapsody has that sorta fun element that Stairway doesn\'t.
-
I get more excited when I hear Stairway come on the radio. Case closed
