Amazing what our little Tampa story has become.
Amazing how political it has become. I\'m emberassed to be a republican.
These stupid ass congressmen don\'t know shit about this case and just jump on it as a right to life type of thing.
Give me a break.
This has dragged on long enough. Let the poor girl pass.
The pictures they show on TV are all 4-5 years old. We have congressmen saying that they reviewed the tapes and she didn\'t look like she was in a PVS. Yet doctors who have been by her side for years all say there is no hope. Ugh. I need to go spit and kick my dog.

Freaking A right man.
I hope you can enlighten GigaShadow.

why the hell can\'t these people move on? She\'s been braindead for how long now? I say as long as the parents want to flip the bill let her live... this story blows.

A pillow....or a good shot of adrenaline, a la Million Dollar Baby - should suffice.

I went against the wind.. That means.. I\'m a underground anti-meanstream punk rock coolio.

Kore you are the one that needs enlightenment my friend. ;)
I think most of you are missing the point here - she didn\'t have a living will. Apparently activist judges now will admit hearsay into evidence.
As much as I think Congress shouldn\'t have gotten involved - in a way I am happy they did as our Judicial branch hasn\'t had anyone check or balance them in some time.
-
She isn\'t Shaivo anymore, she\'s just a brain dead corpse. Let it die.
-
Hey, don\'t misspell my name. I\'m not from Amerika, I\'m from the United States of AmeriCa!
You are not a legal expert, Giga. Congress was attempting to reverse the general direction of state law and judicial rulings in cases like this one. When there is no living will, the decision should either be made by medical experts, as stated in the Texas law that George Bush signed in 1999, or by the next of kin. The Parents are not the next of kin; the spouse is. He would know better what this woman\'s wishes were. That\'s the precedent, and that\'s the basis of the many rulings supporting Michael Shiavo over the years. Why do you assume the courts rulings were based on some political motivation? Why are you so quick to abandon the Rule of Law?
You think it\'s no big deal to leave a human being in a vegetative state just to placate the parents who can\'t let go? I say that is horrific.
-
The husband just wants her to peg so he can get some warm poonani.
On a serious note, how much more dead can she get?
-
Well she can get buried in a place so people don\'t stand around arguing about this.

Since when did you get your MD Kore? You are right about this being a politically motivated topic - by the left. As I stated before our Judicial system seems to think it doesn\'t fall under the checks and balances set up by our country.
This is totally different than the law he signed while Governor of Texas and you know it Koredweller. ;) This is a family dispute and no, I don\'t think the husband should have the right to decide her fate especially given his current status and relationship with another woman.
Oh and about her burial - the husband won\'t agree to let the family bury her in Florida where her family resides he wants her buried in PA and wants to limit their access to her gravesite.

Can we even call her brain dead?
Her head is filled with spinal fluid.
She doesn\'t even have a brain any more.
That is what\'s so fucking retarded about all of this.
Let it freaking go.
Funniest thing about it (For lack of a better term) is after all of these years (I covered this case when I shot news 7 freaking years ago) she may end up dying on Easter.
Awe fuck it. She died 15 years ago.
-
The fact that some members of Congress have been able to turn this into a political issue sickens me.
Let the woman go.
-
The argument is she is brain damaged not brain dead. Big difference and since none of us are MD\'s which have examined her I find it hard to say she is already dead.
As for being a political issue - funny how Jesse Jackson sided with Bush on this one... this issue does not stick to conventional political thinking as Koredweller pointed out earlier.
-
She has no brain. Her brain is filled with spinal fluid.
I have a feeling that I just might be the only person here who has actually been to the hospice center.
I\'m probably the only one who has spoken with attorneys on both sides.
I\'m probably the only one who has seen the joke of protesting they have tried to do outside of the hospice center and the even bigger joke of a protest outside of Shaivo\'s house.
ALthough to be honest it doesn\'t take a brain surgen (Ba dumb bum) to realize this needs to end.

And this qualifies you to make a medical opinion how? Have you spent any significant time with Terri Shiavo? Besides filming things, what qualifications do you have to state she has no brain when just as many doctors say the opposite. Frankly, you have no idea what this woman wants or wanted and being a part of the media I am surprised you haven\'t had any suspicions about the husbands motives.
Did you forget that when paramedics arrived when Terri Shiavo went into the coma they immediately didn\'t like what they saw and called the police believing it was a homicide attempt? What about the numerous broken bones discovered on her? Maybe there is another reason Michael Shiavo doesn\'t want this woman to get any better...
-
With the amount of court cases this thing has been through. If there was any validity to what you are saying then he would be in jail. It\'s not like he\'s OJ Simpson.
And I\'m not making a medical opinion. I\'m just stating what ALL of the medical professionals have stated that have actually been at her bedside and spent time with her.
What you are stating is what the chosen few are saying who have seen 5 year old tapes and are getting a few pennies to go on camera to shpew rhetoric.

Poll is done. Runs just like every poll I\'ve seen. About 80-20.
