I took a blood test today, more specifically a chelesterol test. I\'ve taken it before without a problem. They stuck the needle in my arm and took out blood. I went into the bathroom to take my urine test and started to feel spotty (seeing spots). I got out and handed the doctor my cup and he told me to empty the rest out (he took what he needed). I said to him "dude, I feel sick" and I sat down. Next thing I knew, I was on the floor with 3 doctors around me with wet towels. I passed out and I didn\'t lose that much blood. Anyone else have this happen to them or any other weird medical story?
-
I also get really light-headed and come close to passing out everytime I have to give blood. Normal needles don\'t bother me, but getting blood drawn gets to me for some reason.
-
It\'s just weird because I\'ve taken that test a couple times like that before and I just got up and walked out. This time I completely lost it. Now all day I felt like crap.
-
i gotten light headed before but haven\'t pass out yet. Thanks goodness. I don\'t like blood drawn either unless its emergency or something.

I have no problems with blood (the sight of, or medical problems with), nor do I have a problem with needles.
PS. What were the wet towels for? Did they strip you stark bollock naked and whip your arse with them as you were lying on the floor?

pfff you are wusses.I have been giving blood for test countless times since I was a kid and even donated blood and never passed out :p

I just had mine taken too, I know I got real nervous, but once she stuck the needle and started taking blood everything was fine, I hate giving blood after seeing all the idiots in high school that let the wannabe nurses take blood from them for practice kind of always freaked me out a bit. But I didn\'t get light headed or anything like that.

The only time i\'ve ever had a problem with getting a blood test was the last time I had one done. Instead of looking away while they took the blood, I watched everything the Dr did (hey, I was curious). As soon as he took the needle out I sat up got off the bench and fainted. It was so weird. He did, however, take 3 viles, so i don\'t know if that got anything to do with it.

I doubt it, from what I remember, the average human body can afford to lose a few pints, whatever is taken out is usually replaced within a week or 2.

Was it the kind where they leave the needle in there for like a minute? I havent had one of those in a dogs age. When i was a kid though, i was just in shock and was just looking at it.
Nowadays you have to catch me in the right mood to stick a needle in me. about 10 years ago i freaked and they had to hold me down at first...... i dont know why.
Ive never felt light headed before though.

I never had a problem with needles too. I just don\'t like them. The towels were to cool me down and help me come back to consciousness.

They stuck it in my arm and left it in there for a couple minutes.

I also hate blood Tests , and needles.

I had blood taken and the result was a stiffy that lasted 8 hours. I had to be rushed to the hospital where a hottie fem nurse relieved the tension with her magical hand skillz.
-
I\'ve given blood a few times, first time I gave I felt sort of light headed but nothing out of the ordinary. Now I can give and still feel like I can run a race.

Id probably pass out from giving blood

Me 2.. Im not afraid of needles.. What really scares me is that fricking band they strap to your arm to get the veins to surface. My veins on the arms are not very visible, and since I get nervous the veins refuse to show themselves, but the nurses still tries to find them even though I tell them that they’ll have a hard time finding them.
That reminds me, once time when I was 6-7 perhaps, I was at the hospital so they could do some blood work, anyway the nurse could not find any veins in my arm so she said “There is no blood” , as a stupid little boy I thought I had no blood and was going to die. :D
She ended up poking holes in my fingers and drew blood that way, took forever.
I really really hate that, get all sweaty and shake like a little girl. :shy: At least I get the nurses comfort. ;)
Whenever I go to a check up, they do blood work.. Whenever I go to the hospital for a reason that has NOTHING to do with blood, they do blood work.

Fuck. The nurse at my local medical centre is just as old as my mum. Where are all the young sexy ones!

The one time I\'ve given blood to the red cross I got really light-headed. They are used to it though so they have these chairs that can recline back and even elevate your feet. Getting blood to the brain easier is all that\'s needed.

The problem is the nurse... If you want to get brainwork done you goto a neurologist if you need blood drawn goto a phlebotomist.. I have terrible veins everytime I get them drawn in the lab the person hits me in one shot drinking a DP with one hand and a needle in the other. Nurses dont draw bool day in day out I can do it but only if you veins are bulging and ready to burst. Always get it done by the little crack hoe that draws 50 samples a day.
