I read this article and it seems the Pope is really near death. I\'ve read articles of his health deteriorating but I guess this may be the end.

BORING!
I would go out in a blaze of glory if I were him. Take some hostages, get some coke....and leap from the balcony on fire screaming "GOD IS DEAD, SUCKERS!"
But that\'s just me.

He should get someone to bring out a boom box playing Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue.
-
I want to see the reaction of the crowd at St. Peter\'s Square when the white smoke goes up.
They said that there are already 10s of thousands of people there.
-
He died at 21:37
-
Rest in Peace... He did some amazing things.
-
Well, he\'s no Mitch Hedberg.
Hard to believe my whole life (Well the part of my life that I\'ve payed attention) he\'s been the pope. Long long time.
-
Im so broken up.

It truly is sad. I just came back from Mexico just about an hour or two ago. I was at the Basilica de Guadalupe and you could not believe how many people where there. There were thousands of people there. The Pope really touched millions down in Mexico and I had the opportunity of seeing him in one of his visits to mexico. I was born the year the came to the US, and appereantly the US and the Vatican don\'t get along.
Now we just have to wait and see what is going to happen to the Church. I hope whomever is elected decides to call himself John Paul III and follow on John Paul\'s II footsteps.

I was saddend to by the news of his death...Still am.
I will never forget the day he came to Glasgow back in 1982, hey the family still have the VHS of the TV broadcast.

 Ok enough of that - that last one was a good one BS.

I enjoy laughing at religious nuts. I don\'t know why, but there\'s something deeply satsifying about it. Like all the catholics around the world who were driven to tears thinking about "papa" dying... It\'s fine to express concern about one man\'s death, but I\'m a little MORE concerned about 10,000 dying in Iraq, or 300,000 dying in SE Asia, etc. etc. Let\'s put it in perspective.
a. He never really did anything except wave his hand and occasionally make statements against homosexuals and birth control. Did this pope ever stop any wars or bring peace to any disputes? I haven\'t heard about it.
2. You can\'t be surprised that he died. The guy was incredibly old and he\'s had health problems. Don\'t act shocked that the pope is not immune to death.
c. You\'re just going to get another Pope in a few weeks anyway. What was so great about the last one that you can\'t just transfer that feel-good-popey emotion to the next strange man in a white robe?
I was baptised as a catholic, but I have no understanding of these people whatsoever.
-
Oh geez - come on this is about the Pope\'s death not some anti Iraq statement Core. Typical...
As you say just transfer your feel good Iraqi emotion to another 10,000 Iraqi\'s or another 300,000 SE Asians - not like they are in short supply...
-
Don\'t freak out... I was just trying to think of something recent where thousands of people were killed. I was going to mention Rwanda, but that was like 10 years ago.
I\'m just saying that one man\'s death doesn\'t warrant all this. I don\'t care who he was.
-
This Pope stood against Communism and was also the catalyst for the call of the Berlin Wall.
But I hear you Socialist/Dems sorta like that Commie shit idea....so I understand why you don\'t respect people who have an affinity for the Pope. Don\'t worry, you can disrespect me. You don\'t matter much anyway. ;)
-
This wasn\'t about you, Gman it was about the hardcore papists. Unless you are one... but I don\'t think you are.
In any case, I doubt that all these pope-a-philes are falling apart because of the death of their beloved anti-communism superhero (if that\'s what he was). It takes a dogmatic republican to retain an enduring fear of the "Big Bad Evil Communism"(tm).
The faithful catholic\'s love of the pope seems to be some deeper mystical bullshit that I don\'t understand. :)
