Title: Latest WoW Patch
Post by: GigaShadow on April 20, 2005, 05:25:04 AM
Ruined the game IMO.  First - LAG.  I was in TM last night fighting 4:1 odds vs the Alliance I was lucky if I could even target and actually hit my opponent.  When I thought I was standing next to an Alliance player I would get the dreaded "Too far away" message.  I would target an Alliance player and hit the "Charge" button and nothing would happen.

Secondly, every Horde outpost was taken over last night - all low level NPC\'s were killed - I can just imagine what people playing low level characters are thinking.  I am on a PvE server and it is terrible, it can only be worse if you are on a PvP server.  The honor system has ruined the game and IMO they should have waited and implemented it when they came out with Battlegrounds.

I am not so much angry as I am sad over Blizzards lack of forsight into what would happen if you based a reward system on PvP kills.

I ended up with 89 Honorable Kills when in truth it should have probably been much less.

Yup, looks like they totally ruined the game.

Even on the Non-PvP servers people are just wiping out towns waiting for someone to come fight them so they can get .0001 honor points.

I play on a PvP server and let me tell ya... It\'s a joke. You literally cant go anywhere cause all the level 60\'s do now is camp towns and kill anything that moves.

I dunno what to say. Blizzard ruined thier own game.

Jumpman called it.

When did this happen?  I\'ve been gone for 4 days now.  What a freaking bummer.

I\'m sure they are getting blasted with mail.  THey will hopefully pull some of this crap out right away.

Read their forums.  A majority are really ticked and want to cancel.  Blizzards response was something along the the lines of:

Just like a new toy, everyone wants to try it out, give it some time and things will settle down.

HAHAHA yeah... they don\'t get it, they have unleashed a demon that will never go away.  People are getting rewarded for this so they will never stop!

Well, that decides it for me.  Now I can buy the Matrix Online instead.  I\'ve been weighing the two for weeks now.  :)

People should get negative points for hitting anyone 5 levels below their level.  Or at least 10.  It\'s really freaking annoying that they are doing this.  I read the update and I was like, WHAT?

Well, I\'m not a gloater, but my past experiences with MMORPG\'s led me to my conclusion immediately.

Don\'t expect it to change either...very seldom do MMORPG developers make drastic changes directly to gameplay after it\'s been put out.

In Daoc, people have been complaining about a patch that\'s been out for a year(New Frontiers, basically twinking the reward system and all the battlezones), huge complaints, and no change. Star Wars Galaxies is still relatively untouched also.

Stick a fork into it, cause WoW is done.

I tried playing again tonight, and I played for about an hour.

I spent 10min actually playing, 40min running back to my corpse, and 10min getting ganked by a group of level 60 horde.

Seriously, I thought it couldn\'t be as bad as people were saying.... But it is.

It\'s almost like I\'m in shock.

This game went from being crazy fun, to really REALLY boring.

It\'s amazing the bright people at Blizzard didn\'t see this coming and/or do something about it. Too bad. :(

(I\'m not playing anymore either, but that wasn\'t because of gameplay, but rather time concerns)

Actually, I had fun last night - started in TM when the odds were pretty even, then left when the zerging began and went to XR.  There we completely owned the Alliance.  We had a huge raid group going and when we got bored the Blue Dragon in Azshari spawned so we all went to try and take it down.

At the end of the night I had 492 HK\'s.  Not bad.  The lag was tolerable tonight and it is enjoyable when you have a good group and you are also level 60.  On the other hand I really feel for those who are low in level.

I was debating on canceling my account, due to not being really impressed with the game and now this confirms it. I will give it a week or more and if this stuff keeps up, I\'ll go ahead and cancel, I guess.

WoW is most definitely not done, though I agree Blizzard should have implemented the Honor system alongside Battlegrounds.  And Blizz was correct in their "new toy" excuse.  Obviously when half the population has been doing the same damn thing over and over for the last 3 or 4 months, they\'re going to jump at the opportunity to try something new.  Anyone who expected the Honor system to be perfect on release is a fool.  There will be future hot fixes and patches to tweak it so more players can enjoy the game.

Yeah, I agree.

I\'m not going to cancel my account, or give up on my beloved Paladin yet.

I\'ll wait to see how this all shakes out.

Hey you guys should have gone to a PvE server.  I can imagine your pain in contested zones on a PvP server.

I could care less really. I only signed up because Capcom gave me his extra copy and because he was playing it. I never see him on it anymore, so I went ahead and killed my account. I guess MMORPGS are not for me, I can\'t sit down and dedicate all the time to the level grinding.

Raids blow on my computer.  My hard drive starts cooking and I don\'t see a darn thing.  Just a bunch of people sitting there.  I guess I need more ram.

I played a bit last night with no problems.

I never even bothered with the raids. My highest character is only LVL 13 and I doubt he makes it to 16 before my account expires.

I tried to get into the game, but never really could. Think Capcom moved on to the Final Fantasy Online game, doubt I even try that one due to it being Square. *Shrugs*

Guess I will go back to Quake 3 CTF and Half-Life 2 Deathmatches. Better suited for my low attention span.

That one thing they definatly need to fix.

I lose interest with each of my toons starting around 30 and definite by 40. I now have 3 toons above 30, with 2 above 40. 43 rogue, 44 priest, and 34 mage. Now currently on a 20ish warrior.

After seeing the havoc that the honor system has created on the PVE servers. I can only imagine what it is like on pvp servers esp when alliance scum outnumber us honarable Hodre 3-1. Right now there are toons that will come up to me around my level flag, and follow. I usually get tired and kill them. Most of the time the person ends up dead or atleast close before a ?? toon shows up and slaughters me. My guess is like less than 20 levels above so they get HK.

If they are going to keep this crap honor system they need to take away points if a ?? kills a lowbie. Side not I started a new toon on the new pvp server they just added. I do not mind pvp, but if you are horde it can reak major. Alliance does not have to leave their zones till 40. Horde has to do it at 30. Not quite fair esp when outnumbered by nasty little humans.
