MADDEN NFL NEXT-GEN COMMERCIAL
DEBUTS ON ESPN -- ONE TIME ONLY!
Draft Coverage Begins at 12pm ET / 9am PT
Along with finally providing an answer to the question of which player will be picked first in the 2005 NFL Draft, the first hour of ESPN\'s Draft coverage on Saturday, April 23, will also give the world its first look at the next generation of videogames -- Madden NFL football will make its next generation debut in a TV ad airing within the first hour of the broadcast, which begins at 12:00pm ET / 9am PT.
The ad, which will run only one time during the broadcast, is a 60-second preview of the photo-realistic graphics and heart-pounding football intensity that is the essence of Madden NFL football -- an experience that will come to life like never before on the next generation of video game consoles. This is the future of Madden NFL football, and if you\'re a football fan, this is a televised preview that is not to be missed. Set your VCRs or digital video recorders so you can play back the commercial again and again, because you may not believe what you\'re going to see.
The next generation of Madden NFL football is coming, and you can get your first glimpse on ESPN during the first hour of the 2005 NFL Draft. Don\'t miss it!

....wow...............
-
nice cutscenes
-
yeah and I expect better graphics than those cutscenes in real time too
-
Perhaps it\'s a bit much to expect from first gen game, but wouldn\'t it be neat if all that snow actually accumulated on the players\' shoulders?
Yeah, it would be neat.
-
im hella pumped about the next generation of sport games. Mainly football and baseball.
not sure if its worth waking up at 9am to watch or if it will come out on the internet. Part of me wants to watch the draft anyway but with the broncos trading their first pick away my interest level went down.
-
nice cutscenes
Yeah...they\'re real-time cut scenes. WTF is your point?
-
O.o
-
That\'s a great point...
-
my reaction to your posts, more or less
-
I know what it meant. Here\'s the latest pic in the series:
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.ea.com%2Fsports%2Fgames%2F06%2Fmadden%2Fnextgen%2Fngday4.jpg&hash=05049ac1f0781f9171ea712c85b66228c128bc87)
Also...girls have boobies, and you can squeeze them and stuff.
-
mm thinks they may be pre-rendered cut scenes. Only time will tell.
-
Eh...They could be in-game. It seems the trend will be to spend a lot of resources on lighting and particle effects. I just hope somebody spends some resouces on making some decent games that look pretty.
-
looks like rendered screens to me....meh like stated before it\'s gonna take alot to get me to pick up another madden joint...
-
Is that an EA logo I see on the corner of the pic?
PRE-RENDERED
-
look how the background is blurred, how does the game know what your focusing on? pre-rendered
-
What we know:
It has already been said that the Xbox 360 can handle the Unreal Engine 3 without so much as breaking a sweat, now think as to what they\'ll be able to do with more powerful engines.
Is that an EA logo I see on the corner of the pic?
PRE-RENDERED
That just means the pics were distributed by EA.
If those are pre-rendered then that\'s not very good art work. The eyes in that first pic don\'t seem life-like, and the crowd, from what little I can see, looks flat.

Pre-rendered that is supposed to represent real time thats why

The high-poly models aren\'t a surprise. The new machines are rumored to throw around hundreds of millions of polygons. I\'ve seen better models than those using less than 10,000 polys a piece, much better texture work as well.
The lighting and particle effects, have you any clue as to what the new game engines are capable of?
We\'re getting more polys for more complex models and more ram for better textures. Those pics may be doctored a bit, then again maybe not, but I think it\'s a very good indication of what we\'ll get come next gen. However I expect better later on...
-
Pre-rendered or not, I don\'t see why not this couldn\'t be legit next-gen stuff. I\'d be disappointed if they couldn\'t at least come close to this level of gfx.

Exactly.
I don\'t see anything about these pics that makes me think they are definately pre-rendered. As a matter of fact they look like regular Madden screens with a slightly higher poly count, high-res textures, and some bump mapping.

I am not discussing wether next gen consoles will be able to do that it in real time or not.
-
Eh... Looks like every recent football game.
They\'re so realistic now, who cares.
I\'m not into football, so I don\'t get it.
-Dan
-
It looks like each football player has the detail of the mad scientist in Doom 3. Even with the advanced hardware, the Xbox 360 couldn\'t handle 40 Doom 3 models on screen at the same time.
Pre-Rendered...

I think I know why most of you guys called it pre-rendered...because its EA....so, its must be
pre-rendered.
*which I kinda agree*
-
How about this...WAIT FOR E3!!
-
yeah, the yearly xbox mantra
-
I can see those as fairly feasible. The poor res on the screw on the helmet in the first pic or so seem to lead to that conclusion. Its not a lot of evidence but 1) these shots arent the most detailed things in the world and 2) if the next gen cant get close to this then i dont even know why we\'re bothering with a next gen so soon.
I want to be able to pick out the next gen material from this gen with my eyes half closed.

That seems like it could be real time.Edgy hand, edgy polygons, lighting effects dont seem touched to blend more realistically between touching objects.Still I dont trust EA`s.Not that I believe it cant be done in real time. But I wouldnt find it strange if they are low quality prerendered FMVs.
I wont conclude until I see images or movies that are 100% surely in real time.
-
You\'re crazy if you think this is realtime. There is not a chance that will be done in realtime and if it is, it\'ll only be in replays, much like Gran Turismo 3 looked great in replays, but during the actual gameplay it didn\'t look near as good. It\'s just like film, it\'s all about hype and camera angles.
;)
-
Well.Replays are real time too.And GT3 looked good in gameplay as well.If its indeed real time (something I doubt because i dont trust EA) even as replay I dont see a reason why we shouldnt be impressed.
Unreal3 shows more detail. The thing is it doesnt look as crisp and clean. So I still cant conclude if thats real time or not
-
so are they gonna release any "gameplay" screens?
oh wait, companies don\'t do that anymore

Pre-Rendered...
How did you come to that conclusion?
The models in doom 3 are normal mapped like everything else in the game, no?

You just don\'t trust EA. I understand...
I still think we\'ll see better than this come next gen
-
ehhh, Tekken 5s cut scenes look more detailed then those pics.
donno why they can\'t be real-time pics, i\'m sure the next gen consoles will be slightly more powerful then this gens ehh ;)
-
Well, Tekken 5 doesn\'t have 40 people on screen at once, Sooly..
-

Yeah someone posted some screens of DOOM3 without any effects, just with the simple textures(cant remember who), and the characters and areas were low polygon.

well if you read all my posts in this thread.....

Supposedly during the NFL draft.
-
What are you people on? The textures are nothing fantastic, the edges arent fully rounded either. Though im sure these arent in game shots since we wont see those for a while, there is little doubt in my mind that we could see something like this.
-
These pics are easily realtime imo.
They most likely use LOD dependant on situation and camera, geometry instancing for stuff that repeats or which has sequential order in it etc.
I really think the new Xbox can pull that and these graphics can be done by EA...
becuz i think other devs will create much better looking games on PS3 !
I mean... look at it ! How can you doubt that consumers will be willing to buy that console for less than such graphics.
This is the LEAST graphics improvement I expect from both MS and Sony.
-
that last pic bs posted...hmmm i don\'t know... could possibly be real time, but that\'s only because i\'m lookin at the edges around the coach, while mcnabb looks totally rendered...s**t i\'m 50/50 on that pic....
-
Who cares about how this game looks. Come tomorrow we will all find out, provided EA doesn\'t pus out and actually shows us some gameplay footage. I am just hoping for better in game physics, running game, presentation, defensive machanics.
-
Dubbed a "visual target," this pre-rendered cinematic was conceived early in development to give the team a goal for the visual detail in the in-game engine. Although we weren\'t shown the game running in real time, EA is claiming that its goal has been far exceeded. "This is what\'s so much fun about next gen," said Strauser. "We can start with a never-before-seen idea and then see it become reality."

-
Yep I was right.Pre-rendered that is supposed to represent real time graphics
-
What I find most interesting is that they say they exceeded those pre-rendered shots.
-
Then I will be impressed for sure
-
well i won\'t.
C\'mon. If THAT is next gen graphics for which you will pay the full money... gee,.. those visuals are the LEAST we should get get.
When the specs of ATi\'s & Nvidia\'s next gen gpu\'s will be publicised you\'ll get the picture.
-
40 people on screen including other details plus they said that the actual real time version looks better. And if thats what they get now imagine what we will be getting when:1) the hardware is finalised,2) developers gain more experience and 3)development kits are ready.
edit:Just remembered I dont trust EA.Thus I dont trust their statements :p
-
Yeah...it\'s just been confirmed that these are "renders"...but EA claims the game will actually look a LOT better than previously anticipated [meaning it\'ll look heaps better than the renders]. SHOW US THE DAMN GAMEPLAY!!
-
thoughts...still moves and plays very much like this generation madden.....me not impressed..

Nothing spectacular but decent.
Im not a madden fan. Actually im not even a big football fan so ill definately pass.
Its a decent start i guess.
-
I don\'t give a crap about this commercial. I want to see the real game in action...not rendered BS.
-
It\'s Madden, it\'s the EA whore franchise.
There is no way in hell that the game will look near this good, not sure why there is a debate about this. It\'s a trailor, nothing more.

How do you figure that?
-
Just figure its all speculation and hype.
-
...or not.
