ROME, Italy (Reuters) -- Dog owners in Turin will be fined up to $650 if they don\'t walk their pets at least three times a day, under a new law from the city\'s council.

People will also be banned from dyeing their pets\' fur or "any form of animal mutilation" for merely aesthetic motives such as docking dogs\' tails, under the law about to be passed in the northern Italian city.

"In Turin it will be illegal to turn one\'s dog into a ridiculous fluffy toy," the city\'s La Stampa daily reported.

Italians can already be fined up to 10,000 euros and spend a year in prison if found guilty of torturing or abandoning their pets, but Turin\'s new rules go into much greater detail.

Dogs may be led for walks by people on bicycles, the rules say, "but not in a way that would tire the animal too much."





Dogs suck and now they have to walk them 3 times a day.

Dogs deserve to be walked 3 times a day, anyone that has one probably would anyway, or let it out in the back garden to burn off some excess energy.

The only people who would get caught up in this, are those lazy cruel batsards who buy a dog for the sake of it, then let it suffer by not feeding/not excersizing/beating it regualry.

Twats like that should be fined anyway.

Good point.  I see lots of dogs that just stay cramped up in a small @ss home or apt.  Those are usually the craziest and most annoying because when they do finally go out they go nuts.

Walking 3x a day is a little excessive though.  Once a day + let rome in the backyard would seem sufficient to me.

Meh. My dog gets walked at least like 5 times a day: 6am,1pm,4/5pm,7pm and then 9/10pm.

I hate taking him out though because hes an attention whore.

He\'ll see a person a either walk towards them or stand still till they walk towards him and when im trying to move or go somewhere it looks like im an asshole because i have to yank/drag him a bit just to get him to go.

I love him when hes in the house but i HATE walking him. Most of the people in my house know it so i usually have to do it once a day tops.

BTW: fu fu yuppie dogs are gay and their owners should be shot.
