Title: At last, a soundcard that encodes AC3 (dolby digital) in real-time.
Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on May 04, 2005, 09:15:34 AM
here it is,
HDA Digital X-Mystique 7.1 GOLD (http://www.ihda.co.kr./skin/ihda/goods/productView.php?goo_code=010000027136)
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.buydigital.co.kr%2Fdigital%2FXM71GOLD%2FXM71GOLD_BOX_CONTENTS_450.jpg&hash=582de2c4cf9bfd1cad3e38d5f3d3eba3c5242275)

If this card is better then my onboard MCP-T (soundstorm) chipset i\'ll be ordering one today...  I\'ve been reading reviews that people are saying it tops Audigy 2 ZS cards. hmmm

well i\'ve ordered one, will beat my soundstorm chipset which has treated me well, but i do want better performance.  Just wish creative would catch up and start making AC3 real-time encoding cards.

bzzzzt wrong, move along.

Its the soundcard for people who have systems like Inspire 5500D. "google it" Then take notice of the amount of analog input jacks the receiver has.  But thats ok, u stick to your overpriced Audigy card.

Any current soundcard that has AC3 DECODING like your audigy just has to use the pass through for your dvd movies.  I don\'t need that.  So i guess u must watch a lot of dvd movies on your pc ehh ;)    I need 3 PCM signals to be converted into 1 AC3 signal.

As for watching dvd movies, i have a nice little system for that. :)

The only convenience I would see of watching DVDs on a computer is if you had a laptop.

If you want to watch DVDs on your PC, then I guess one of those 30" Apple displays would suffice.

Also, who gives a sh^t what people do on their PCs?

Maybe the people who have crappy TVs spent all their money on nice PCs? And I didn\'t see anyone talking about your mom.

mm, there was no spin. its common knowledge that pretty much all of todays current soundcards that have a AC3 decoder, also support passthroughs for recievers to do the decoding instead.  As featured on such cards as Sblive series, Audigy 1/2 Series,  Hercules series etc etc. So theres really no point in buying this card if i was gonna use it for movies, when i could buy a "budget" card like the sblive instead. Although i have one sitting in my 2nd pc. ;)

Its simply for gaming and music. I\'ve been waiting ages for a sound card that could support AC3 Encoding in real-time to replace the soundstorm chipset i\'ve been using.  Its been ordered from NSWs, should be here in a few days.    Audigy cards would be totally useless to me, I\'d be getting only stereo in games, i\'m sure the Dolby Pro Logic feature would be nice though

Is such a card more cpu mean than, lets say...my onboard soundchip of the Asus P4C800E-d , AD1985 6 channel thingy ?

Currently I use a Creative Extigy 1 as a dolby encoder for my consoles. Reviews state it\'s more cpu mean than any onboard soundchip....

Cards are APU controlled, normally they don\'t need much if any cpu help.  Pretty much All onboard chipsets besides the MCP-T chipset on NF2 boards uses the CPU.

From the lawn gnome that whispers strange things in his ear every morning when he goes to get his daily newspaper off the lawn...the gnome tells him to make fun of other people in stupid ways, like telling them about the village they live in and the wood chips they use for money because they live in poverty, and also to mention that anything and everything is old and needs to be pointed out in any situation, no matter how annoying it may be...

not true EAX, it\'s a wrapper

like saying Glide runs on an ATi card

come on bro, pay some attention

oh, and EAX 1 and 2 hasnt been used since like Tomb Raider 2

honestly bro, get out of the tech field
you\'re dangerous

nice try, tho

sigh keep trying mm, fact is, it uses EAX and supports it.  Try reading the specs for your audigy card lol.

I personally don\'t bother with Reverb effects, probably sounds GREAT! on a 2 speaker system though.

wrapper

you bought a DD 5.1 sound card for a 2.1 speaker system?

wtf?

you really did buy this to watch DVD\'s on your PC.  im absolutely shocked

you\'re a numbskull
do you even know what an API is or how it works?

i give up, you\'re like a child
Title: At last, a soundcard that encodes in AC3 (dolby digital)
Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on May 12, 2005, 04:17:49 PM
dood try reading, i bought it for a DD receiver.. 5.1 system.  I\'m saying EAX effects probably sound great on a 2 speaker system.. I\'m on a 5.1 system so don\'t use them.

and again, any soundcard that has a spdif passthrough will work for dvds. Pretty much every card today supports that.  Wtf would i buy this card when i could have just used my sblive5.1 card sitting in my other pc.  Yes mm, i know what a API is. Even if they were using it with a wrapper. It doesn\'t decrease the effect or gaming framerates when its done in a little thing called hardware.
I wouldn\'t be giving me shit about my card, my card is what CREATIVE will most likely be following and charging 3x the amount for.

Eax 1/2 is used in most current games.

sigh, troll elsewhere please.

fuck your slow.

I have a Dolby Digital Reciever, It only has 1 analog input (front Left, Right speakers)
When i play games i want to use 5.1 surround.
So this soundcard like my soundstorm chipset convert 3 pcm signals (front L/R, Rear L/R, Center and Sub) into 1 AC3 encoded signal in Real-Time.  Then it sends this signal to my reciever by optical (toslink) to my receiver to decode.  So i get 5.1 surround in my games instead of just getting stereo.
