Gates in latest TIME mag:
"Note to the hard-core faithful: the next version of Halo will not, repeat not, be ready in time for the launch of Xbox 360. It will be part of the all-important second wave next spring. \'It\'s perfect,\' Gates says, radiant with bloodlust. \'The day Sony launches [the new PlayStation], and they walk right into Halo 3.\'"

I think this is stupid.
It would have been better if Halo3 was released with XBOX360\'s launch.Since there is no competition yet creating the "wow factor" as soon as possible will convert consumers and boost up userbase.
But if he waits for PS3 to be released to release Halo3 he is also forgeting that many consumers are waiting for PS3 as well.
Especially if PS3 is launched with its own impressive AAA titles.That wont let Halo3 have the impact it would have had otherwise.
Unless Halo3 isnt ready/good enough in its current stage and thats just an excuse to build up hype for it

Unless the 360\'s launch is going to face a significant delay, Halo 3 won\'t be launching with it. Moore pretty much confirmed it.
Here\'s hoping they make the hitboxes and sticky aim like it was in the first Halo. Halo 2 = scrubified version of an already scrubby FPS, but still fun.

Hi Nu. :) I will agree Halo 2 generally sucks ass compared to the real FPS\'s but for some reason I\'m always compelled to play it when a new one\'s out.
About the auto-aiming though, I hope they allow us to turn that crap off. The 360 will allow for mice and keyboards for precision fun.

For some reason I don\'t forsee Halo 3 over shadowing PS3\'s launch even in the slightest. But Glad to see MS taking the rivalry seriously

Didn\'t Sony try this with the launch of the DC? If I remember correctly, FVIII come out on 9/9/99? I think so, because I recall gettin\' my DC and games, along with that game.
In the end, I think sales was good for the game, but it didn\'t impact Sega in the least. MS can expect the same with this plan.

I believe the media will all but make a footnote about Halo3 while 99% of their coverage will be on Sony. You guys remember all the media news coverage about all those people trying to get a PS2? Imagine when PS3 is launched.

I think this\'ll hurt Halo more than the PS3.
PS3 might have a non-rushed version of Killzone out to compete anyways. Not to mention a shedload of other games.
Eitherway, I don\'t think I\'m going to bite on Halo 3.

While Halo 3 on the same day as ps3. I don\'t think it will stop the ps3. I think we have the design and controller for that;)
But lets be serious. Those of us who are set of buying a ps3 will still buy one. So I will get the best of both worlds. PS3 and Halo3.

If GTA: Next is indeed a launch title for the PS3, then that alone nullifies this whole strategy. When it comes to gaming marketshare GTA owns Halo.

That doesn\'t prove anything to me, mainly because we fucked around with the hit boxes a while ago and noticed that. It was already understood that everything homes at a greater degree when we first played it back in November.
The fact that I can play Halo 2 on Live then play Halo 1 multiplayer seamlessly pretty much voids that video. The new "hit box accuracy" just speeds the killing.

The melee argument in that video was horribly stupid.

Good point but don\'t forget many of us have more than 1 console. A decent percentage of those 60mil probably DO care about Halo. :)

How\'d you assume none of those 60 million people bought Halo1 or 2? I have both systems and naturaly I have both Halo 1 and 2.
Your way of thinking seems really limited. If those 60 million people were so dedicated, why aren\'t there 60 million sales for GTA games or Gran Turismo 4?

It\'s not sounding like they are. They want to keep Xbox live very, very successful and that\'s what Halo 2 is doing for them right now.

I actually factored that in already.
80 million PS2 sold - 20 million Xbox users = 60 million PS2 users that don\'t have a Xbox.

Yea but what\'s the point? The GPU in the Xbox is much more powerful than our cards. And the Xbox now accepts a mouse and keyboard. The line is thinning I guess.

yeah sure. I played it when it was quite new. 1985 or something. I sucked it. Damn ghosts got me everytime.
That\'s why i suck at twitch multiplayer fps games too ( I enjoyed GoldenEye N64 though). Gimme slowpaced 3rd adventure games or stealth.
Ever read Steven Poole\'s book "Trigger Happy" ?
Imo a must read for videogame lovers with intellect to some extent.
