First of all, i love Nintendo. Even when i was a young child. I have owned every console that nintendo has made, including Gamecube, and i dont think i could pass up the revolution. something about it seems very unique. Anyway, here are the specs that have been leaked.
"
This morning we received these specs for Nintendo\'s Revolution from a trustworthy Nintendo insider
After speaking to developers close to Revolution development we can confirm that these are indeed legitimate.
Here is the rundown -
IBM Single 1.5Ghz Risc Core (Broadway)
ATI 300Mhz Graphics Core (Hollywood)
128MB MoSys Ram UMA Total System
Audio Handled via CPU
12x DVD 48x CD-ROM Drive
15GB HDD
Built in WiFi (802.11b/g)
Wireless Controllers
480 ProgScan support
Full Backwards Compatibity With GC Software Library
Like they said, power isnt about anything, and i can expect the graphics to be on par with the x360 and ps3. i cant wait to see some tech demos!

I mean demos showing what the hardware can do. in other words, yes, games. Nintendo didnt show anything about the revolution except a peice of plastic and a few shady details.

Sorry, I was just playing a bit.
Ok, now the specs do seem a bit yesteryear at first sight but we gotta
keep in mind that it is indeed that thin little black box which\'ll contain this hardware.
I can imagine heat dissipation being
a problem with superduper clockspeeds.
Of course, alot will become more clear when they reveal their user interface i guess.
-
everyone is saying this is fake, but seeing how small the console will be, I guess it would be adequate.
-
I seriously doubt those are real, for Nintendo\'s sake.
-
Nintendo said graphics weren\'t as important as Revolutionary ideas...but I hope they weren\'t thinking graphics weren\'t important at all. I hope those aren\'t real.

It\'s from Psychonauts.

I haven\'t had a chance to play that, but since I bought a new PS2...well...:p I heard it\'s a great game.
-
480p support and CPU-handled audio will blow our minds!!!
-
Oh yes...it sure will... o_O
-
Nintendo seems to be way behind their competition
-
If those are the specs then Nintendo is completely outclassed this generation.

well maybe they don\'t care..they have the handheld gen on lock and no matter what they know that whatever the specs are people are gonna jump at the next mario or zelda game from them..guaranteed...
-
Bah it would have been better for them if they started making games for other platforms like Sega did. They are hurting theirselves if these are the real specs.
edit:On a second thought I think its a good decision.Even if it was more powerful than PS3 or XBOX360 nothing quarantees that they can succeed at competing them.
That what also happend with the GC.they prefer a very low cost hardware which would be enough to bring them profit without the need of massive sales knowing that Nintendo fans are a sure userbase.
Nintendo is almoast as if they belong to a different kind of market,They have different kinds of targets

If that is Nintendo\'s goal, it doesn\'t change the fact.
Personally I would think it would be fiscally smarter for Nintendo to develope software for all platforms. Like you said people will jump at the chance to play Zelda and Mario, but many won\'t buy a Nintendo console just to play Nintendo frachises... Many will, but they would definitely do well cross-platform instead of making a console.

So, what you are saying is, Nintendo should go multiplatform? If they do, then what would we have? Zelda on Xbox 360? Mario on PS3? That would NEVER happen.
-
people never thought they\'de see sonic on xbox
-
Nintendo is a very different company. Nintendo has a great handheld market which they currently dominate, and their exclusives are on their handheld systems.... do you think nintendo would rather have mario on xbox 360, or on a handheld that they made? if anything happens, i think nintendo will go totally handheld, and would never become a 3rd party.
-
Even if they do have a handheld market, they can\'t support another dying console.
I personally don\'t want them to go third party, look at Sega\'s games once they went third party, complete shit.
I\'m more curious about this revolutionary idea that the system is suppose to bring.
-
Nintendo turns profits on its console.
Hard as it may be, I think the company will be able to shoulder that tremendous burden again.
The Revolution is hot. I don\'t know jack about it, but I want one. I want Chrono Trigger for Super Nintendo. Super Smash Bros. will launch as an online game, too, which is a good first step.
PS3 and Xbox 360 haven\'t won me over yet. I\'ll buy them, sure. ;] But I don\'t know why yet. Maybe Rare, maybe not. I don\'t know. Rockstar? Next Rockstar game should be cool. The graphics are the only thing really lagging behind for them.

The very fact that one of reasons you want this "Revolution" is because of Chrono Trigger shows two things.
1: It\'s a good idea and may be a selling point for some people.
2: It\'s pathetic when that is the selling point for the Revolution. How does that warrant the name "Revolution"?
-
Yeah, thats what im interested in but i cant say im expecting too much. Perhaps, with Nintendo\'s console, developers will easily be able to tap all of its power allowing the graphics to be somewhere in the field but not touching the competition. Then their whole "revolutionary" idea will carry the console the rest of the way.
If they are able to stay in the game with such hardware, it would save nintendo a lot of money. Perhaps thats the point. Who knows. Gamecube, to my understanding (besides the flipper) didnt have anything crazy under the hood, but it was able to compete with Xbox fairly well. Maybe we can expect the same of this new console.
BTW: I so wish Sega would come back with something incredible and just blow our minds but the sad reality is that it will most likely never happen.
Its a sad thing to see giants fall.
-
Those specs must have been leaked intentionally.I doubt these are real.

It doesn\'t.
So far it\'s ironic that the biggest revolution is to go back in time and relive everything, heh.
The only forward thinking idea shown so far is wireless play out of the box.
Nintendo caught up with the idea of DVD playback and online play. The machine will be on par with the other systems. Just like the current one is now. It\'s less impressive technically, but visually is another story.
Why Revolution? Dunno yet. Maybe cause Evolution didn\'t sound impressive enough, heh.

How about Zelda and Mario on Xbox and PS3.... I don\'t see why not, why would a franchise have to be limited to a single platform? The big money in software would be multi platform.
-
Then before you know it, I\'ll be playing Sonic on GameCube. Anarchy.
-Dan
-
Well, if Miyamoto has anything to do with it, the console may not be a big step, but the controller sure will be odd looking.
-
I heard it\'ll have nine handles and no buttons. You throw it at the tv like a boomerang and whatever it hits turns to dust and you lose.

I just saw the press conference yesterday and i have to say, Nintendo fanboys really gobble up anything the big N has to say. In all reality though, their speakers were far better than anybody elses really except for maybe that woman trying to get her nintendog to do things and being unsuccessful.
Me, being into music production etc found that one DJ game thing to be pretty kool. They almost got me interested in DS. The presentation on the Revolution wasnt spectacular but with better speakers than anybody else, they almost make you feel that specs dont matter (hey id love to play all my old nes, snes, and 64 games that i cant play anymore).
Anyway, they said exactly what i predicted, and that was that the console would be really easy to program for allowing them to tap its full power, thus keeping it relatively in the race with sony and MS.
I still think they are making some silly moves but it should be interesting how this next gen turns out for them.

Easy to program for is not going to close the gap between Revolution abd XBox 360 / PS3.
Obviously Nintendo realizes it will not be able to compete against MS and Sony head to head, so they tweaked there strategy.
Revolution will sport the usual Nintendo franchises as well as gameboy connectivity. I\'m sure both the Revolution and games will cost alot less then PS3 or Xbox 360.
This is Nintendo\'s new strategy. Cheaper hardware will require less initial capital, and they will be profitting sooner from it.
