Title: System of a Down- Mezmorize
Post by: Viper_Fujax on May 21, 2005, 08:14:24 PM
Clips\' thread gave me the idea of doing a thread on the new SOAD cd.

I think its pretty damn awesome, but theyll never make another CD that meets the standard of Toxicity and S/T. But none the less, still a very good album. The guitarist sings a crap load in it, but people have mixed feelings on his voice. I personally like it, especially on a raggae part they throw in on one of their songs (Radio/Video).

Its definitly better than Steal this Album, but seeing as STA was just extra songs from toxicity, you cant compare that album with the rest.

Just amazes me how many simple songs SOAD makes, but theyre still awesome songs. And they throw in so many different sounds in the album: acoustic, heavy (SOAD heavy..not..heavy heavy), raggae, eletronic, etc.

Not really any songs that stand out from the others. Lost in Hollywood is good for the first couple minutes but then gets tiresome.

I guess this is the first cd of a double cd release. the other one comes out in like 6 months. Kinda hoping its an acoustic album, but i obviously wouldnt mind the usual SOAD kind of CD.

Havent really liked them since SoD (first cd), when Sugar came out. There were a couple catchy songs on Toxicity but besides that i havent really liked them since.

Not to barge in on this thread, just thought I\'d ask something nicely of you guys.  All of you that listen to them, please stop.  That only encourages this shitty band to make more music.

anyone know of any bands that have similar songs to SOAD\'s BYOB?  I love that reggae rift in there, it reminds me of Martian Puppets

ROFL

Their entire sound is borrowed from punk.

Real punk that is.

Not that that\'s a bad thing either. They do it very well and add their own twist. But it all wreaks of Dead Kennedies/Sex Pistols etc. etc.

I personally think they are medicore band that gets by only because of their political "message", which to me, sounds more like a gimmick for the band, then anything.

when Rage Against The Machine broke up the media saw a place for SOAD to fill in.

Personally, I find the political message from Rage far greater than any SOAD effort.

Can\'t stand RATM... SOAD on the other hand has their moments. My favorite song from them still is \'Aerials\'.

i didnt even know soad was political till toxicity came out and someone said "i wonder if theyll have more political lyrics"...i guess from the first album suggestions is political but some/a lot of their lyrics are purely random shit..er stuff we can only speculate on and only sergi er whatever the singers name is really knows what it means.

Aerials is everyones favorite song..especially if ur not generally a fan of the rock genre (i dont feel like playing the label game..but its not what u normally listen to)

The very fact that fans say a lot of the lyrics are "purely random shit" takes away from the whole point, doesn\'t it?

i still like the music a lot..and i like the singers voice..i just dont take what he says to heart because..its random/i dont know what hes talking about

I could care less about any bands "message".

I find the "ass eating" message in R.Kelly\'s music particularly moving

march on little soldier, march on.

Im the complete opposite... for the most part.

btw, A bands message is a fairly important part to the music but i cant stand it when people say they love a band purely for that reason. People get their panties in a knot when i say i listen to the MUSIC not the message. Thats the reason its called music in the first place. I just cant listen to crap with good lyrics.

*shrugs*

Great band. I absolutely can\'t freaking stand the singer...but the band is so good I just look past that.
