I know this is old but is anyone else playing this? I was hesitant to grab it because a friend of mine said it sucked but I really liked it. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is great. Most people\'s complaints seem to be with the combat system but I didn\'t really have a problem with that. My main problem was the fact that the enemies blocked too much.
I played it all the way through twice. I did one as a good guy and one as a bad ass. Its funny because this is the first time that I felt kind of bad for some of the bad ass decisions I made in a game. [sp]I was trying to get the evil demon to show up in that little girl and the way she was crying and asking me for help made me reconsider for a moment. Also, when I was about to steal the power of the water dragon in the cave under the palace the look on her face was one of the most emotive things I\'ve ever seen in a game. She looked SO sad that I actually felt bad.[/sp] The voice acting is great too. I didn\'t recognize any of the voices(except for Sagacious Zu who sounded like Leonardo from TMNT). The voice talent did some great acting work.
One thing I didn\'t like was the half-assed ending stories for each character. I would have liked more than just some text about what happens to each character but it is more than a lot of other games bother to do.
IMO, If you have an Xbox you should also have this game. I give it a 8.5 out of 10.

I love Bioware.
I\'ll be checking this out eventually.
Is it coming out on PC?
-
My two character names:
Massive Wang (Male)
Lo Mein (Female)

I don\'t know. I just did a search and found some interviews from late last year that say it is a possibility.

Definitely a great game.
I still haven\'t finished my closed fist game, but I\'ll see. I tend to not care about other people in the game unless they\'re ridiculously cool or something, so I doubt I\'d mind.
I always play darkside in KOTOR and KOTOR 2 anyway.

As was KoToR, but it was still a great game. So was FF7 and people regard that as a great game. Just because a game is linear, does not mean it can\'t be a great game. Still, I will agree that linear games have less replay value, I mean, how often do you replay Shenmue?
;)

you\'re comparing it to ancient games, bro
how many times did i play shenmue and FF7?
how long does it take to beat jade empire vs shenmue or FF7?
-
I never play games more than once.

True. Still, my point was a linear game can be fun.

I very rarely do. Infact, the only games I have ever went through more than once or even twice would be CastleVania : SOTN, Super Metriod and Resident Evil: Remake.

Hey guys, when I\'m playing Jade Empire I really wish I can just suddenly turn into a cow and fight the God of War. I should always be surprised.
I also love those Goosebumps books where you decide the outcome by choosing a page to continue with.
Haha sometimes you die olol.

I played through Shenmue several times and am playing through Shenmue 2 again...

you need another hobbie...

Isn\'t the novelty of Shenmue worn off once you know exactly when and what to do?
-
No, the novelty of Shenmue is the exact opposite.. talking to 50 different people to get information that only one or two of them have.
Kind of like real life, except I\'d say the odds of finding information faster are pretty good.

As opposed to which game?

Meanwhile, you didn\'t answer the question...

Besides MMORPG, What games AREN\'T linear?
-
I would argue that games like Super Metriod or CastleVania: Sotn are not really linear. If nothing else, because you can do almost everything out of order. Yes, it will be harder, but it can be done. Then of course there is other games, like Pong.
;)
-
Who gives a sh*t if a game is linear? Just enjoy the game and STFU. ;)
-
SOTN is about as non-linear as a 2D side-scroller can get.. pretty much..

SOTN roxorz my boxorz...
Seriously...that\'s a great game.
-
Yea, that game should come out for the PSP.
-
No it shouldn\'t. Konami and Sony both should pull their heads out of their asses and release a 2D Castlevania title for either the PS3 or PSP. Much like they have done for the GBA.
