Well she:
- had a suspended license
- was speeding right in front of an unmarked police car
- gave an attitude (telling cop how to do his job)
- refused to do what the cop told her because she was on the cell phone :rolleyes:
I say she had it coming but that non-lethal weapon is designed to take down anyone, even a 300 lb man. If the cop used physical force he could have injured her. The taser is 50k volts for 5 seconds.
She was clearly being melodramatic. I say she deserved it. Cops serve the public and work crappy hours with shitty wages to bring peace and order. They deserve a little respect at the very least.

we just do shit differently in aus, we handle things without having to "taser" people to resolve a issue so dangerous as a 22 year old chick talking on a mobile and not leaving a car.... To do it TWICE to her when she was on the ground basically screwed is just beyond lame.
Being a cop in the states must have been real hard before the tasers came in. Guess they never got around to teaching social skills. :/

He wasn\'t in any danger or threatened in any way. Then to taser her again while she was on the ground screwed from the first time is just beyond bullshit. How can u justify that!

How did they handle it befores tasers? Put themselves in danger by having to physically address her. Why should these cops risk themselves just cause this dumb bitch is against police? She could have a knife on her or who knows what else. Also, all she had to do was listen to the officer. And she was hardly screwed from the first time. One thought: Maybe she didn\'t know what a Taser was (until now).
She saw a cop pointing a gun at her, and she figured, "no cop is going to shoot me in my own car for talking on a cell phone" so she continued to do whatever she wanted to do.
Now, if a cop pointed an object at me and said "GET OUT OF THE CAR OR I WILL [DO SOMETHING] TO YOU" I would tend to believe him. Maybe she was too dumb to believe.
How does the cop get the citizen to obey him, by presenting a credible and understandable threat, without resorting to physical handling that might open them to a lawsuit? I would guess the rules for taser use are well understood, and there is probably a judicial case history supporting the cops in situations like this. Therefore, it might be less risky to use the Taser than to use a baton. The effects of the Taser are well documented. The effects of the baton might be almost anything.

As much as I dislike police. She had it coming....
(1) Suspended lisence.
(2) Driving over speed limit.
(3) Being a smartass.
(4) Disobeying direct orders.
(5) Was given the option, not to be tasered. He told her . She refused.
Tase her ass. if that is the only way to get through to her, then so be it.
And let me say this about cops. Not all are bad. Want examples? Here you go.
This happened within three weekends.
1: Superbowl weekend. Girlfriend and I are in the car. I\'m driving, notice I am in the wrong lane. Don\'t look real good, and I swerve to the other lane. Guess what? I HIT the sheriff. I literally wrecked and hit the cop. Dented my car, took paint off his. Guess what else happened? Nothing. He realized it was a silly drivers mistake, asked if I was okay, I said yes and he went on. Never check to see if I was drinking or anything. Even gave me his card, so if I wanted to turn it into the insurance.
2: Pulled over twice in one night. Once for no turning signal and going 60 in a 50 mph zone. Got a warning and went on my merry way. Fifteen mintues later, almost at my G/F\'s, get pulled over again. This time for 75 in a 35. I explained to the cop I wasn\'t from around there, didn\'t know it was a 35 (BULLSHIT). He checked my record, saw I had no priors and let me go...
3: Got pulled over, because I didn\'t come to a complete stop and almost hit another cop..Got a ticket on that one...Why? Because it was a woman cop....
Moral of the story? Three bad weekends. Four incidents with the police. One ticket. Why? Because it was a female cop. Cops should not be chicks. Oh and traffic school come this Tuesday.

i dont doubt some policemen suck..but in any group of society, there is always "a few bad apples"..hell in grade school theres always the one kid that asks if theres homework.
and u deserve the ticket for almost hitting a cop,lol. I mean it does suck and its an extreme to not doing any damage. But if some guy almost hit u, i guarantee ud be like "fuck man..that douchebag almost hit me..id ticket the asshole"...well cops can do that so they will.
so to look at it as "not all cops are bad" instead of "some cops suck" isnt cool.

I dislike the whole police state. That we need people telling us what to do at all times. However, not all police are bad. Some are on ego trips and some aren\'t. I wouldn\'t call me an "ass" for hitting one. It was an accident.
And I never said I didn\'t deserve the ticket. I made a joke about the only reason I got a ticket was because it was a female cop.

The cop became impatient. His first threat was the tazer. Not to arrest, or threaten without means of harm. It was, get out of the car or i\'ll tazer you. Doesn\'t matter how many times he warns her, he was already impatient and threatening a non threatening person with violence... There’s a reason why there’s a little link saying "Are officers too quick to fire Tasers?"

She was talking to her boyfriend and telling him the location where she was pulled over. Her boyfriend could come down there, while she continues to delay things and refuse orders, and when he gets there, he could create an unnecessary and potentially violent scene. And the cop would have to taser him too. ;) Who knows? He might have even brought a gun or some stupid sh*t. Maybe the b*tch will learn from this situation and STFU in the future.

I\'ve seen a guy get pulled over for a routine traffic stop, and the dude in the car pulled a gun out, shot the cop in the chest, and then sped off. Luckily, he was wearing a vest. Human beings are unpredictable and you don\'t know wtf can happen.

oh, well i guess next time someone gets pulled over by a cop. The police better make sure they don\'t tell anyone they got pulled over. Someone could come back and bomb the cop shop, or if they\'ve been pulled over for drink driving and they need to call family for someone to pick them up etc etc

I\'ve called home for help when my friend got pulled over for drunk driving and my dad helped lessen the situation with the cop. Nobody in the car was being a stupid bitch like the chick that got tasered. If the chic acts like that, you could guess what her boyfriend is like. I was just making a scenario. Yes it could happen, and yes...it could also NOT happen. You are using your opinion as a definite end all to this situation. All I said was anything can happen, and you responded with "nuh-uh!"

phil, as i said, just because someone didn\'t die, doesn\'t mean what happened was right or justified. IMO He acted to quickly with the taser and there was probably many ways to avoid the use of the taser so early if at all. How is this so hard to understand..

So would using force and take the phone from her cause unnecessary fighting and what-not... arresting her would involve having to drag her out of the car and then this discussion switches from tasers to throwing people on the ground who are ignoring the cop. I didn\'t say that she was a risk, I said there was a potential for something to occur, and I also said that absolutely nothing could have happened as well.
Again, the affects of tasering someone is short-lived. You get much more damage from punching someone in the arm and giving them a bruise. Tasering hurts like a bitch (I have one). Me and my friends were being retards and tested it out (even the charge held in the metal tips after it\'s used hurts like hell). The cop-issued tasers are about 20 times as powerful though (the one I have runs off a freaking 9V battery), but they still have the same affect, just for a longer period of time.
Your muscles contract you into a fetal position, rendering you useless. It only affects the neuromuscular, not the cardiovascular. Tasering someone for 1 second will render the average person into a "passive" state. What I don\'t agree with was the length of time the cop tasered the chic for. He did it for like 10 f*cking seconds or something. That was way more than enough for the situation. Maybe if she had become violent or something, then I\'d understand. But again, the affects of being tasered are short-lived, and disappear as soon as you recover and your muscles aren\'t contracted anymore. There are no permanent side affects, so it isn\'t a big deal. She wouldn\'t listen to a damn thing he was saying, and this shit went on for like 10 minutes. What was he going to do, wait another 30 minutes? Would that justify a tasering? What time is long enough for you? Yes, I think he could have taken a little more time with the situation, but there aren\'t a lot of options when dealing with dipshits.
I agree with the tasering, I just don\'t agree with the length of time which he tasered the stupid woman for.
arresting her would involve having to drag her out of the car and then this discussion switches from tasers to throwing people on the ground who are ignoring the cop.
That would make Soully argue about how the cop should of spent more time talking to her before dragging her out of the car for not cooperating the entire time. Throwing someone on the ground could cause more injury than tasering. It\'s a lot safer than you think. Tasers are designed to end bad situations without causing the person any physical harm. Tasers just make you STFU.

The first thought that comes to I\'m sure a lot of peoples minds, including the cop, is the potential harm from that.

On programs like realtv they show shootouts between cops and people over simple traffic stops just like this. To start giving the person the benefit of the doubt he puts himself in great danger. As I said just before she was willing to break the law many times before this, what stops her from getting violent now? Shes already resisting arrest and acting irrationally.

yo, i\'ll be the first to say f**k the cops... when i put in a complaint for profiling a couple of years back, they were protecting their fellow officier to no end and acting like i was the one with the problem...:mad:..but ultimately this chick was wrong from the jump, you gotta listen to the police, maybe the cop should\'ve called for back up or something, who knows, but none of that would have happened if she would have done what the cop wanted her to do....

Do you know how long you would have to be tasered for before you die? Whoever did that must have been tasering them for a solid minute or something without stopping...WTF? Was this a cop? Whoever used the taser in an inappropriate manner should have their privileges taken away. Tasers are meant to be used for a very short time...not going out all hardcore and tasering the crap out of someone for a long ass time until you realize..."Oops...they\'re not breathing."

phil, as i said, just because someone didn\'t die, doesn\'t mean what happened was right or justified. IMO He acted to quickly with the taser and there was probably many ways to avoid the use of the taser so early if at all. How is this so hard to understand..

He may have acted quick to taser, but under the contactually code, it would be ok at that time for an officer to use a taser if he wanted. Most will not, but he choose to and it is perfectly written in his manual. He was present, gave verbal directions, repeated them, went to use short physical force, met resistance, at the time being there, he could have used his baton, mase, or taser.

I never saw the video from the inital stop. I\'ve only heard on the radio the actual taser video.
That initial stop she deserved a freaking taser up the poop shoot. She was annoying and very abusive from the very beginning.
