Title: please help me id my ps2 problem

Hi all,
How can I determine whether the laser on my ps2 is broken? My games won\'t load (just keeps loading and sometimes disc read error). How do I find out that this is a laser problem (and not some other issus)?
All relevant suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
