Nothing lasts forever and Sony won\'t have a stonghold on the market forever. It\'s a slow but gradual process.
-
oh noes, analysts and random people on the intarweb say sony and PS3 are doomed!!!!1

assumptions made about marketing trends and technology always end up biting someone in the ass.
-
tell that to microsoft VP of xbox sales in japan
i mean the former VP
-
Juslight, you\'re right. A great number of analysts predicted Microsoft would exit the console business within two years of the Xbox launch. Here we are on the eve of the Xbox successor and things are looking pretty good.
Someone would have to be pretty naive to think that Sony could be an exception to trend of what goes up must eventually come down. I don\'t expect that Sony will fail by any means, but I do think their days reigning as an unequaled force in the industry are coming to a close.

Somehow I disagree. I think XBOX360 will do a good job in the market, but PS3 still dominates. Who know if ps3 will dominate the video game industry as big as ps2 did, but i believe ps3 will dominate either way.

You\'re disagreeing with something I didn\'t say. What I suggested is that Sony won\'t dominate by such a large margin.
I also didn\'t say that it would be Microsoft alone that took the market share from Sony.
-
hmm...it sounds like you said that on your previous post that you meant XBOX360 will have an equal share of Sony PS3 which I doubt it.
-
In any case, that\'s not how I meant it. I\'ll reiterate by saying that I believe this next generation will be on much more even ground than it has been before.
There will be a victor, and I believe it will be PS3. I just don\'t think they\'ll manage to take 70%+ of the market like before.

What we\'re seeing is that the Japanese devs are kind of lagging behind in terms of technical gamedevelopment. They need an
\'easy to code for\' platform to do a viable game project.
So, i think we\'ll see atleast a marginal shift of Japanese devs towards Xbox360.
But i don\'t think it\'ll punch Sony\'s marketshare alot either. Nintendo\'s Revolution is rumoured to be priced ALOT lower than both Xb0x360 and PS3 so Nintendo might be the one to gain some substantial marketshare.

don\'t kid yourselves
PS3 will dominate xbox 2

What it seems like to me, PS3\'s architecture (from what ive heard at least) is a lot easier to develop on than the ps2. You dont have to deal with programming for the two different vector units and such. I forgot why, but it also seems that its going to give PC developers a much easier time as well (evidence- unreal).
I just dont think that ease of development is going to keep japanese devs from the ps3.

If I am not mistaken something similar was predicted for the PS2 as well by some analysts.
-
No one said PS3 won\'t sell the most. It\'s just simple matter of fact, that Sony will slowly lose marketshare. It\'s not something that can be avoided. Eventually, Sony will be in second place. I think this generation will have Sony closer to 2ND than ever, but they will still come out on top.

Nothing last forever sorry fanboys *oops people*:)
Sony is bound to fall. And the father of playstation seems to think that no matter how much a ps3 cost or what it does or doesn\'t offer people will support it til the end of time because it\'s playstation.
-
Well, remember the Empire is Microsoft. Sony is the smaller guy here. Microsoft is bound to fall, fanboys *oops people*. :)

yea..i don\'t like when companies get all cocky and arrogant. s**t like no-matter what they put out, people will buy it..yo, f**k that! it\'s probably why they demoted his a$$!...trust it\'s a good thing that microsoft is in the game...keeps sony from gettin in a comfort zone...and they were never really worried about nintendo anyway...(well neither was microsoft)...now it seems that they will be takin an even bigger loss than microsoft did when it launched the xbox....he won\'t be poppin s**t when sony is in the red so much that they can\'t recover some or half of the profits, and they will be forced to lay some people off...startin with his arrogant ass...
-
I assume you are referring to that Arrogant A-hole KK. Did you hear what happened when he started the PS3 project with IBM. He scraped the project 2 times in the begining with the IBM engineers cause his demands were so unrealitic that the good old people at IBM had to give him a reality check, that he was still living in the 20th century.

tell that to monopolistic things...
still waiting for windows to fall....
law of gravity shouldn\'t be used to explain a company or its chances in the future
some things stay on top for long times...look at Coke, etc.
but i do agree The lines between consoles will be closer this next round, but one never knows what may happen - marketing & games is what will determine this in the end. if its done right and the games are there the console will reign

That\'s the way the cookie crumbles, nothing lasts forever, enjoy it while it lasts...take your pick. It\'s only a question of time.

PS3 could be the new saturn.
Arrogance and high manufacturing cost.Just like Sega and Saturn.High enough that Sony could be struggling if the analysts predict correctly.MS doesnt care about a few losses. They have more control on XBOX360\'s price than Sony has on the PS3.

I agree with this part, after all isn\'t this the position most companies adopt when ever they become #1 for an extended period of time.

Btw the TGS isnt very far and still no news on PS3 games. And we are supposed to see it in playable form?

yea we haven\'t really seen anything from sony since E3...i know ps3 is still a little ways off but we should be seeing SOMETHING!...sometimes when a company takes too long to show their stuff, it doesn\'t bode well for them. sony still has some time left tho before people start doubting them,...but not much....sheeit show us some games!...
-
Ppl are impatient.
Xbox360 releases REAL early imho.
And by nature I\'m more curious about
which is not revealed or clear yet ;
PS3 & Revolution
-
I think TGS will be the right time to finally reveal actual work-in-progress along with some playable games. With the 360 we didn\'t see any screenshots until just recently -- like back in May, and that\'s 7 months before release. The PS3 is rumored to be released this coming Spring so TGS sounds like the perfect event to really kick things off, and not to mention it will be an opportune moment to capture some of the 360\'s thunder right before its launch.

Rikku:Hopefully this is the case.It seems very logical :)
