I just dropped 2 gigs of ram in my notebook. Up from 512 megs.
I should notice a significant increase in battery life now shouldn\'t I since the HD isn\'t swapping much any more, shouldn\'t I?
Anyone else have experience with this?
-
afraid it doesnt work that way
the ram might even use more juice than a HD
ram was to constantly be supplied with voltage, where as a hard drive might not
-
Well it seemed like my hard drive was always on. I\'ll do after effects work on the thing and it was pretty damn slow.
Oh well. Keep that sucker plugged in I guess.
-
whell think of it this way: if it was damn slow before, it means you needed to keep it on for longer to do the same amount of work. now it wouldn\'t take as long, so you end up using less power. ^_^

You\'ll get around %30 more battery life from the extra ram.

who farted?

You did.

negative points for both of you
try harder, please

Well, try to gauge the average battery use AfterEffects, then compare it to your notebook\'s battery life.
I think that app uses both RAM and HD quite intensively. What\'s your HD\'s rpm ;
5400 or 7200 ?
(ow, and Evis\' avvy rocks ! :bounce: )
