Let me guess... Harry Potter??
-
Go for it im not impressed with it anyway
-
Meh....you\'ll all be disappointed. It\'s
[sp]Dumbledore dies. Now Harry\'s most powerful protector is gone. [/sp]
-
A bunch of crap if you ask me.
Who was it on these boards a couple years ago who waited in line for the midnight release and read it like the first day?
-
whoever it is, they must be banned... we cannot tolerate such faggotry

Ginko back in 2003:
It\'s the most enjoyable book series I\'ve ever read. Extremely accessible by almost anyone, and meets a wide demographic...not to mention the books are hugely entertaining. I guarantee that if you were to go see the lines of people at the book store tonight that you will meet quite a variety of people varying in age and interest.
If you think it\'s for kids you would be wrong, the series has grown up quite a bit in the 4 books that are out and from what I understand the 5th book has matured as well...not only the characters, but the situations they encounter.
I\'m mostly into Anne Rice and Michael Crichton, but I would stop reading anything from those two if I had another Harry Potter book to read...I actually owe it to the Harry Potter series for getting me back into reading.
The first book is okay...the series gets better as you move along as did J.K. Rowlings writing abilities. The best is The Prisoner of Azkaban...biggest jaw dropper ever!
If you like the movies, you would love the books...even though the movies have stayed quite faithful, there\'s something special about the books.
I will be there at midnight and I can\'t wait to get in to it...the 4th book left so many possibilities. Very excited
-
Ginko at 1pm day of release:
Nope...not yet anyway. Draco doesn\'t have what it takes to be another Voldimort.
Just an update...me and about 300 other people were in line last night to get the 5th book at our local Barnes and Noble. As I expected, there was a good varying crowd..a good mix of anyone between the ages of 5-70, it was alot of fun.
Very exciting...I\'m currently 135 pages in and will probably be to 300 by the end of the day.
I\'m LOVIN\' IT!!
-
Ginko, 3 days and 900 pages later.
Just finished it...WOW!
If you\'ve been reading the series and have been reluctant to pick this book up, I urge you to get a copy. Everything is revealed in the book...everything!
I might add it\'s rather good too
BRING ON BOOK 6!!
-
i like ginks an\' all but :ban:....heh j/k.:p..i never liked harry potter tho...we\'ll rip ginks on his gayness:gfight: when he comes back from his hiatus....
-
I read them and I liked them.
I\'ll read most anything though.

Until I found out it was ginko, I could have sweared it was sammy :p
-
I wouldn\'t mind having come up with the H.P. idea. R.K. Rowling has twice the money the English queen has. That\'s a lot of money.
-
I went to the midnight release of book 6 last night, and I\'m about a third of the way through at the moment. As of reading over 200 pages, I\'m not impressed. Meh.
On an unrelated note, go see Charlie and the Chocalate Factory. It\'s, dare I say, better than the original.:)

I\'m curious as to how that would spoil the book?
The fun of reading a novel, perhaps speaking only for myself, is having the story unfold and reaping the rewards at the end. I could very well be told who dies in the end, but then I\'m left with the questions as to why/when/who/how? The only way to reveal that information would be to read the story, and then I could understand, or interpret for myself, the significance of said event.
Out of curiousity, what satisfaction do you get out of knowing who dies in the latest Harry Potter book? Am I right to assume that you don\'t even care for the series?

Ding ding! But I care enough to warn people about it. I care. I care about how you feel. I don\'t want your wrath by spoiling it for you. Hence...why I made a subtle and indirect warning. I...don\'t want to lose you.....again. I want things to be like before.
-
It\'s, dare I say, better than the original.
The original sucked because it did not follow the book, which in turn pissed off the author. Tim Burton\'s interpretation was much closer to the book than the original. And Johnny Depp\'s version of Willy Wonka is much closer to the actual character than Gene Wilder\'s version. If you read the book you\'d hate the original and like the new one.
Another point...all the lyrics from the Oompa Loompa songs are taken directly from the book, unlike the original movie. And again...the new one is based on the book, not the original pisspoor interpretation.
I found it quite humorous and enjoyable.

You completely missed my point, the only way you could really spoil the book is to make a detailed run-down of the events in the book that lead to any one incident, and then explain the outcome (revealing the significance as to why it happened).
In the case of a character dying there must be some significance to that, otherwise it shouldn\'t have happened. I, for one, don\'t read the Harry Potter books to see who dies, and I\'d be dumbfounded to find any one person who reads them solely for that purpose. What\'s the satisfaction in knowing that? No, there\'s more surrounding an incident such as a character (an important one at that) dying that begs the question why? If you can validate your so called spoiler for me, and everything else that has even the slightest significance, then perhaps you\'ll save me from having to read the next 350 pages.

I think you took my thread waaay too seriously with that dissertation. I mean....wow! I should print it and put it on the wall or something.
You could have just replied "Eh? I don\'t care." and be back to reading your book.
I like the movies, though. It\'s got sounds and motion pikchers and they speak some of the lines outta the book! Didya know that? Oh...and it\'s Ron that dies. :p

I could mail you a signed copy if you like. I\'ll have to charge you postage of course.

And miss the chance to see you stumble around as to why you even bothered acquiring the information you posted? Where\'s the fun in that?

Okay. Now I know why Hollywood continues to make movies to the equivalent of watching runny shit get flushed down the toilet. Because there are people who like "sounds and motion pikchers."

There was a hint of sarcasm in that last response of his.

Actually, I did "stumble" upon it by accident. Someone just put the spoiler out in the subject title of a thread at a car forum I go to.
So...yeah...I didn\'t climb Mount Everest to get this info....but just for you, I did.
BTW...I\'m glad you find me more interesting than reading that childrens\' book. So....put the book back down and tell me more about the story while I edit a movie on my Mac.
You\'re a girl, right?

You haven\'t brought anything of significance in here. You\'ve neither harmed or helped, and this thread will no doubt sink out of view without having had any impact.
I\'ve given the book enough of my attention today, and I purposely came into your thread to play with you. I wanted to see what you thought it was you were doing (a poor attempt at humor is all I can gather at the moment) and see if I could possibly get a rise out of you. It seems I\'ve succeeded as you\'ve been reduced to trying to belittle me with my choice of reading with the poor comment "that children\'s book." Then I suppose you were trying to give yourself some kind of cool-guy significance by telling me you\'re editting a movie on your Mac? Last, but not least, you ask if I\'m a girl? That\'s neither here nor there, and if anything can be construed as a deragatory comment towards women.
Anyway, you\'re not as much fun as I thought you\'d be.
Oh, and good luck with editting that movie. I guess it takes some amount of skill and a good eye to include only the best scenes of yourself humping the couch.

Nothing here is really all that significant. Getting a rise out of me only happens in the political debate forum. And this thread...well...I didn\'t care much for Harry Potter but I just thought post it just for the hell of it. I didn\'t expect anyone to get so intrigued about this thread. Now I\'m glad I did...as you\'ve spent enough time wasting it on me. Those who didn\'t care for it just said "so what?" It seems you did get annoyed enough to reply a few times.
People know I edit movies on the side. Humping couches? But hey! That is funny!
But you\'re the one who got in line late at night to buy Harry Potter. Now that is pathetic. And you don\'t even enjoy the book all that much. *snicker*
-
Who cares if someone waits in line for something? I\'ve waited in line for many many things like console launches and movie releases. Doesn\'t matter if you think it\'s pathetic. People can do whatever the hell they want.
You got owned, Gman.

It\'s one thing to stand in line for a console where only 500,000 will be available to a fan base of over 50 million people. But for a book? Sheesh. I bought one for my wife this morning and there was literally a ton of the HP books right by the entrance of CostCo.
It\'s not like it\'s gonna be gone the next day.

What do you mean by saying "you\'ve spent enough time wasting it on me?" I think I\'m the one who will decide when I\'ve wasted enough time on you, until then I\'ll keep up this little exchange we have going on.
Annoyed? Hardly, this is fun while I take short breaks in between my homework due for my summer courses.

I suppose if that\'s your judgement on me then I\'ll take it and stride with the 600 other losers at the book store last night. I suppose after I\'m done with the book then I\'ll start looking into a Mac and a film editting program, then I\'ll be cool. So cool...

@ Rikku: Your new avatar is giving me light epilepsy. Is that Tom Cruise using his new evil Scientology powers?

If editing wedding videos is cool, then I prefer to be a dork. But I need the extra cash. Muggles can\'t conjure up money, ya know. Believe me, I\'d rather be killing off Emerald Weapon for the 20th time.
Now that - is cool. :)
You can make fun of me when I stand in line for the PS3. ;)

I think I\'ll pre-order this time. Although it\'s more fun to wait as the anticipation increases, I don\'t have the patience for waiting so fuggin\' long anymore.

I\'ll let you hijack Rikku\'s thread ;)
The Xbox360 is running up the downpayment list at ElBo at an enormous rate. $50 supposedly will secure a console for you. :)

I already pre-ordered the Xbox 360, so I don\'t have to worry about that right now.

Thats pretty lame.
I understand not liking the books but why go out of your way to ruin it for other people?
